Her album didnt debut anywhere at number one and it kept going down until the rerelease and the hot songs disturbia and take a bow and major promo (grammys….) thats how she started to sell WELL and could reach platinium in the US. Artists like Alicia, Beyoncé, Justin, fergie, they sell STRAIGHT IN ONE YEAR long! She had the intelligence to release some dance tracks and the right tracks gotta give her credit, that ppl in Europe specially love and to valid their point again change drastically her image to some rock punk style with dark clothes and make up to appeal even more to new audiences! Alicia Keys audience is different (majority of adults with not a lot of youngsters) Beyoncé’s is different (majority of females) and Rihanna’s audiences concerns a lot of kids and young ppl who are the actual buyers of CDs!
Her first two albums barely touch 4 million so u just cant compare her numbers to the artists you just mentionned like Rihanna is too much superior! lol Those artists were HOT in the beginning, Alicia, Justin, Beyoncé, fergie, jay-z, even ciara, they first came out they sold millions! Chris was only scheduled for 3 shows in England,(Europe) but becuase he outsold tickets within a hour. He had 10+ shows, in the biggest arenas you can name… With Ne-yo his got a tour in Europe in july and his got numerous amount of outsold arena shows to showcase his performing… The same is said for Tpain… oh and John Legend …

Rihanna wasnt even aware of what ”Techno music” was. She arrived in New york in 2005. All she knew was her ”Carri,Regge” genre.When she spoke about the Gwen situation. She said she discovered that type of genre, and she was starting like it. However she was still a new artist and regardless if wanted to change. The label only a makes that decision.

first of all I can’t believe I just read all of that…but yeah anyway……Rhianna is a beauty….it takes years to develop your own sound and style in the industry….no one is seriously famous in music solely on their ability to sing. Look at mariah, that girl can sing, but for a while their her albums weren’t selling and her image was seriously in the toilet. Janet Jackson can’t sing, but she can dance and she is famous primarily for her family. Whitney was fashion model before she became a singer, Bey once started her career 10 years ago!!! People in this industry are either going to sink or swim. One minute they area star and the next thing you know they are out. Just because Rhianna’s style has changed doesn’t mean she is trying to hid the fact that she can’t sing. I think she has a unique voice and great stage presence. What hurt Kelis wasn’t her ability to sing, what hurt her was her personality….you have to have some kind of personality to sell records. Finally take Britney Spears, they built her image as a on the enge goody goody/bad girl , they gave her catchy songs and she was able to dance. She was also a beautiful.
