With all the recent publicity of Christina Milian’s relationship with singer/songwriter The Dream, some have gotten lost in the sauce and forgot that Milian is actually a recording artist.
Her first single, “Us Against the World,” which debuted on MySpace failed to garner any real attention or radio play, but she’s hooked up with The Dream to produce the majority of her new album, Elope, which is slated to release this summer. “Zipper” is an uptempo club track. Cool for listening, but nothing to write home about.

You know what I miss about music, when everybody did not sound the same. You know what we need to return to those Barry Gordy roots where he said, even if you sing another person’s song, you need to find your energy and own it. In my mind, she sounds like everybody else that is out here. I would play this song, and I don’t hate it, but I hate its unoriginality. That’s me.

I think what i want from her is a strong view point. she has always had songs about issues but i guess i really want to know what its like in her life through her music. This song is one of the best club songs (and songs period) that I’ve heard in awhile. It’s catchy and the concept alone is great. The-Dream did his thing and so did Ms. Milian. Can’t wait for the album.

These days its not hard for someone like christina to have a ‘hit’ song; she’s pretty, she can dance, she can’t sing- thats like the perfect formula nowadays! She just needs a catchy song and a video where she’s butt naked rolling in mud or something and bamb there’s a hit. She’s done it before, its not like she can’t do it again.

I realize I’m not necessarily an authority on the PR of artists and how it affects their music sales, but I wish somebody would tell this girl to please layoff the public romances with producers who are “coincidentally” producing her next released album and work on her credibility. Already she is being perceived by the public as being a f***ing for tracks sort of artist and it doesn’t help when she constantly puts out sexually explicit music, dates the producer of her current album and seems to have no real credibility of her own as a viable musician, singer or artist. I was rooting for her on her first release but I wish she would focus more on her artistry and not taking the easy way out by sleeping her way through the music industry. She’s sinking into the bottomless abyss of pretty faces that get screwed over in this industry.
and by the way…if this is all you got out of the deal you were horribly disserviced.
