I’m trippin cause i know girls like Solange, who came to my school, and told us that they had traveled that road….And i was thinking then, why are they here telling me not to..

I have to admit, i never had sex in high school. I knew a bunch of girls (not all friends, but some i just knew of) who it seemed like they had sex one time and got pregnant. I knew i wanted a life, so i hung around girls like myself who wanted anything and everything except a baby! We all were doing positive fun stuff to occupy our time. I started modeling with a Canadian modeling agency at the age of 14. It kept me busy, gave me goals, and most importantly, kept me around young women who wanted something out of life. We all knew you couldn’t get modeling jobs with a big belly. Might sound stupid, but it’s good for parents to do anything to get a young woman through the bloom of youth, when all you want to do is be loved (have sex) with a guy you like….I just couldn’t risk it. I didn’t run with the fast crew in school, i didn’t run with the low self-esteem group of girls, i ran with the crew who had it together mentally and physically….and it sustained me throughout high school and throughout college…..

So I’m sorry, Solange just seem like the biggest joke and the hypocrite of the decade to me. I’m certainly not downing anyone who fell short in that respect, but i certainly got a bone to pick of those who decide to stand in front of a group of people and tell me to do something they couldnt.

I think it all depends on how people want to learn their lesson. Some people appreciate the aspect of hearing 1st hand accounts, others want to hear from those who resisted, and some just wanna learn the hard way by experiencing themselves.

I’m married, so I have don’t have to worry bout safe sex, but if I could have done it all over again, I would have waited till I got married. Then I wouldn’t have had to get tested before I got marred, and sweated it out. Even with Condoms you taking a chance now a days. I hope some of you realize how ignorant you sound.

Since when is it a bad thing for a person to advocate, protecting yourself and making better decisions? Just because she had a baby as a teenager doesn’t mean she can’t encourage others to make better life decisions. Promoting safe sex, is as simple as that: promoting safe sex. She may not be infected with HIV, but there are plenty of people all over the world that are infected with HIV or AIDS yet they still advocate and promote safe sex. They use their life experiences as an example of what not to do. Are they too not allowed to speak on it because of their past mistakes?

I think this is a very brave move for her to make BECAUSE she is a young mother and had a child at a young age; puts her in a vulnerable position to be criticized. But anyone who dwells on that, rather than seeing this for the bigger picture (that regardless of what happened in her past, she could very well get through to many and save people from making irrational decisions), is purrely out of touch with reality and far removed from moving our society, forward.

If you’re going to criticize someone for trying to do good and contribute to their community, make sure your own house is in order.

Let me add this, I hope the same people in here getting on Solange about promoting AIDS prevention, also took the time to get on TI when he decided to use his community service requirements to better the lives of people in community by encouraging them to give up the street life. I’m sure many of you tuned into the Road to Redemption.
