Jennifer Hudson performs at at WaMu Theater in Madison Square Garden on Friday night in New York City.
She recently chatted with USA Today, saying she’s fine, happy and glad to be here:
On Her Belief in God:
“My family and friends have always called me a woman of faith. For my whole life, that has helped me get through everything.”On What She Hopes Her Fans Get from Her Concert:
“A sense of ‘the evolution of Jennifer, where I’m from, how I became who I am’. There’s a medley from Dreamgirls, ‘and a medley of songs by divas who inspired me, like Whitney and Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan‘.”On Her Future Acting Roles:
“I get a lot of scripts, but it’s not about how many films I can do, it’s about the quality. I would love to do a comedy — that would be cool and different.” A Broadway musical also is a possibility, “maybe in the next three or four years.”On Her Upcoming Wedding:
“I’ve sung at a lot of weddings and seen a lot of the same things, and I want to make sure this is different — but traditional, and very, very classy. I’ll be surrounded by family and friends. I hope that when I’m 80 years old, people will still be talking about my wedding.” She adds that her dress “might be the most untraditional thing” about the affair. “Everybody comes down the aisle in a white gown. Maybe I’ll give it a twist.”
Robin Thicke also performed at at WaMu Theater in Madison Square Garden on Friday night in New York City.
He was a contributing writer on Jennifer’s self-titled debut album. “After the chemistry we had working together, this was a no-brainer,” she said.
Oh lawd I hope her wedding dress comes out rite…talkin bout a twist…because her personal style is lackluster….but im proud of her tho..I counldnt make it 2 her concert this time around….but im glad to see her on her two feet doing thing….best of luck 2 her wedding and marriage…

Jenny has so much personality and she keeps it real, her responses never seem scripted and im sure her wedding dress will match who she is. I got to see her and mr. thicke, i missed him on purpose last time, i just couldnt pay to see who he was on tour with, but this time is the greatest packagea powerhouse our day icon and all that smooth and sexy swag in thicke. loves it!

The concert was great when I went. As for the fairy comment, Robin was all man for me. I wish Jennifer all the best. Although I’m not a fan of hers, I admire her strength. I don’t know if I would have survived what she went through. She is definitely an inspiration in that regard.

I love this lady and she puts on an outstanding show! She is classy and beautiful and she has a huge amount of strength and I greatly admire her. When most would have gone into self destruct mode she held onto her faith and remaining family.
People want to throw shade on her but that is ok she has endured much worse than some hatters!

I must admit I felt the same way when I heard they were a couple. BUT! After seeing them together backstage in Baltimore and DC he really is there for her and they do make a cute couple. The New York thing bugged me at first but she genuinely seems happy so I’m happy for her.
Doing a comedy with Jamie, Steve, Wendy & Whoopi would be a great for Jennifer.

You know what I respect everything that you just said! Why? Because you expressed it in a respectfull and well thought out manner. People don’t have to like her but there is no reason to say hurtful nasty things about her either.
As far as the family thing goes I think she took that time to herself to deal with it so that she wouldn’t have to be in the public eye grieving. If she came out a week later and started doing interviews people would have said that she wasn’t grieving properly and that she was trying to capitalize on the incident. She stayed quiet and people still see it as a problem. I would say the like her friend Walter said she can hold it together as long as nobody mentions it. Is the grief any less at this point probably not but she has learned who to put it into perspective and keep living.
Well,I just hope she wasn’t pushed back out too soon by “Husband too be” or her label so the money could start back flowing.All I know when I had a person very close to me that passed it too me a year almost two to get to where I could talk about it.
