Three-time Grammy-winning singer-turned actress Jill Scott covers the newest issue of JET Magazine. Scott is starring in HBO’s newest series, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, airing Sundays at 8pm EST.
Jill sat down with JET and spoke about her new baby and more:
Scott is counting down the days before she gets to lay eyes on what she calls her most precious gift yet. The soon-to-be-mom, whose due date is April 25, looks forward to her little one, since past doctors told her that she was unable to conceive. He’s my little warrior, Scott told Jet magazine. So far, he’s been to Africa with me, he’s worked in extreme heat and during 14-15 hour days. He’s hung in there with me through this whole thing and I just cannot get over it. This is incredible.
If things had gone as intended, Scott would have married Lil John Roberts, 37, her band’s drummer, last month. The pregnancy, however, has since altered their plans. We are just people, of course, so we have to deal with one thing at a time. We may get married. We may not. Who knows? We don’t. We’re just taking it as slow as we can.

The Murders
Hudson still does not talk about the murders, even with those closest to her. “I try not to say anything about it,” says her childhood friend and longtime assistant, Walter Williams III. “She’s okay as long as people don’t bring it up. She’s trying to put all of that behind her.”Attending Church
“We were what you call ‘born in the church,’” Hudson says. “I would go with my grandmother and my mom, and when I was little, I would fall asleep on their laps in the choir stand. Hudson is now embarking on a 27-show tour, coheadlining with singer Robin Thicke. “This is what I love to do, and I hate to sit still,” she said. “I have been active for the past four or five years, and to be working like that and then to just stop and all you hear is the clock ticking…” She shakes her head. “That will drive you crazy.”

I listened to Jill’s last album today and it was rather lackluster, it just seemed like her soul wasn’t in the music and she was just regurgitating the same type of lyrics she’d done before. I do hope that she goes back to music at some point and makes a great album afterall the world needs some good new music

I agree with Dennis & Dee Dee.Too many in our community make up excuses to not get married. I don’t understand the mentality of being ready to be a parent which is a 18 to 21 yr commitment (and even after that you still worry about them for the rest of your or their life) point blank but not ready for marriage which may or may not last. If the possibility of a divorce is a reason to not get married than breaking up with someone is a reason to not date or be in a realtionship, everything is a gamble when you are alive. We need to be as picky about having a baby with someone as we are about marry someone because too many are hella picky when it comes to marriage.

Regardless of the choices people make in life there will be right and wrong. EX: Just because someone decide to be married and raise their children together does not mean that everything will be perfect (nothing is). God know that married couples will have problems, (we humans) but it doesnt mean to stray away from his word because something may not work out. His word is their for our guidance so that when problems do arise, we have his word to rely on and help us through our problems and to continue to follow him. I give much respect to those who try to do the right thing versus someone who do the wrong and then make up all kinds of justification for their wrongs. There will and always gonna be people who have children out of wedlock, sometimes multiples and never get married. Some learn from their mistakes and some do not and probably dont care. No matter what color you are if you in the wrong, you wrong, but that dont mean that theres room for improvement. God judge the heart, so we can say all day what our intentions are, but God really knows if we mean it or not. So at the end of the day doing God word is whats going to matter regardless of what you believe in.

“Bosslady,” sounds like you have an extremely pessimistic view on marriage – as if divorce is an inevitability – which is simply not the case for everyone, if you have the right attitude going into marriage. I really think it comes down to a certain mentality and fundamental belief system. Truth be told, if you look at divorce as an option, you will more than likely divorce your spouse when things get tough.
I know you find it hard to understand, but some people do believe in the sanctity of marriage. Most couples whose marriages endure do not see divorce as an option. In my opinion, the mentality that a man is good enough to have a baby with, but not good enough to marry makes absolutely no sense. Never will. That’s accepting less than you are worth. Those who try to justify it have deluded themselves.

Main reason why so many marriages end up in divorce is because people believe the goal is to get married, then they don’t work on it and don’t give their heart and soul 100%, taking their spouse for granted. The goal is not to “get married” the goal is to “MAKE IT LAST”. If all you want to be called husband or wife (the title) you might as well not get married at all. When two people get in a lifetime commitment with the common goal to make it work, make it last, with integrity, fidelity and honesty, and a real desire to make it a beautiful experience, marriage is a daily blessing. The common goal should be to make it last, and to do so people have to work on creating together the very relationship they want, not waiting and see what happens, but creating it literally. Being involved.
Why are people so interested in what is going on in Jennifer’s uterus? I mean get over yourselves. I met Jennifer in Baltimore this past weekend and she is an amazing young woman. She is quiet she doesn’t bother anyone but yet everyone is in her business and then because she is somewhat quiet you want to say she is hiding something or lying about something. If you don’t know her then shut it. I met her I gave her a hug and she didn’t seem a bit pregnant to me. But if by chance she is that is her damn business!
