After three years of marriage, Nas and Kelis have reportedly called it quits.
“I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” a spokesperson for Kelis told VIBE. “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.”
At around 3:45pm PST, high-powered attorney Laura Wasser filed final divorce papers today on behalf of Kelis, citing verbal abuse and infidelity.
Kelis, who is currently seven months pregnant, is asking for spousal support and child support. She is also asking for joint legal and physical custody of their unborn child. Word is, they officially split two weeks ago. Wow! I’m shocked!
CHRIS BROWN COURT DATE PUSHED BACK
On Wednesday, L.A. Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg granted Chris Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos a delay in the Rihanna assault case (Brown was not present).
Attorney Geragos says he plans to file motions at court involving police discipline records — which suggests he will seek dismissal of the case because of police leaks in the investigation. (In February, Los Angeles police launched an internal investigation to determine who released a picture that shows a bruised and battered Rihanna the night of the Feb. 8 attack.)
The next hearing has been set for May 28. A judge then will decide whether there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial. A preliminary hearing is likely to begin in June.
But Brown — who has pleaded not guilty to two felony counts (assault and making criminal threats) — could reach a plea deal with prosecutors before then.

FIRST OFF, the two of them could have planned the pregnancy, not just Kelis. Second, the baby could have been conceived by accident, birth control is not 100% safe no matter what you use. Third, what money could Nas possibly give her? This guy is no Jay-Z!! Let’s be for real. This cat doesn’t sell so why would she be after his money that he doesn’t even have to begin with?? And that’s how we’re being fooled. Everytime I read comments like this my reply is well so did Halle Berry when she was beaten up. So did Brandy when she was trying to save face with a fake marriage. They were all happy and glowing but extremely miserable in reality. Celebrities must HIDE their misery because that’s part of their job, making the public dream. Even those who’ve been married for over 10 years. Don’t idealize Will&Jada, Jay&Bey, or Denzel&Pauletta. We have no idea what goes on behind closed doors, and I personally don’t think ANY of these marriages is happy but that’s just me, and I’ll keep my reasons and opinions to myself. Bottomline is, Kelis wasn’t happy and it takes a strong woman to leave, most women just accept cheating and find thousands of excuses.
