SFC Rodney Amistad hugs his children Anthony, 4, and Anaya, 7, as family and friends welcome members of XVIII Airborne Corps at Pope Air Force Base Saturday in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Approximately 200 soldiers returned following a 15-month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
PITTSBURGH OFFICER SHOOTING

On Saturday, Margaret Poplawski called 911 so that police could kick out her son, Richard, after the two argued over a dog urinating in the house.
When Officers Stephen Mayhle and Paul Sciullo II arrived, Poplawski opened the door, unaware that Richard was standing behind her with a rifle. Officer Sciullo, 37, died of wounds to the head and torso and Officer Mayhle, 29, was shot in the head. Officer Eric Kelly, 41, arrived to help the first two officers, but was killed in the street.
Poplawski is charged with three counts of criminal homicide, as well as nine counts of attempted homicide — one each for the eight officers who were shot at in a SWAT vehicle, and a ninth for one who was shot in the hand as he tried to help Officer Kelly.
DALLAS OFFICER QUITS
Officer Robert Powell has resigned following outrage over his hospital parking lot confrontation with NFL player Ryan Moats.
In a statement, Powell said:
“I still hope to speak with the Moats family to personally express my deep regret, sympathy, and to apologize for my poor judgment and unprofessional conduct.
I have sincere respect and admiration for the men and women of the Dallas Police Department and the work they perform daily, and I wish them well.”
Good morning all!
God Bless the families of the slain..
I live in pittsburgh just about two minutes from stanton hieghts. The entire city is mourning. Stanton Hieghts was described by the media as a quiet clean cut nieghborhood. It isn’t. This should be a lesson to everyone that crime is everywhere and it just doesn’t happen in “the hood”.
The city of pittsburgh is devastated and upset about what happen. Not all cops are bad and Pittsburgh has alot of good ones. These three were great and will be truly missed.
this is just craziness.
THAT OFFICER NEEDED TO QUIT! That was a darn shame! It’s a shame that I know this, but the cream sweater and orange button down shirt that the lil’ boy is wearing is from the Children’s Place Easter line. He looks so happy.
The look in the boys eyes trying to hang on to his dad is priceless.
Prayers goes out to the family of the slain.
I love that picture of the soldier holding his kids! I agree that the look on that little boys face and his hug is priceless! And that dad is handsome
Wonderful Wonderful!
my heart goes out to the families of the officers killed. this is just tragic. Killing these men over a dumb domestic dispute and now he faces the death penalty (if PA has that). that is why i could not be a cop. between the public’s mistrust of all cops to putting your life on the line over dumb crap, it is not worth it. the first picture is a beautiful picture of the kids. that little boy is holding on for dear life to the dad!
sad, sad
Big ups to the men and women of Fort Bragg returning home. I’m in the military as well, and have been to the war zone.
That is one of the greatest feelings in the world…retuning home all in tact. For some, there will be some sleepless nights but those will dissipate over time.
The tables have turned on these policemen, huh? Now, I consider them good cops.
As for that other a-hole cop who stopped the football player from seeing his dying mother-in-law – good riddance.
SMH i hope stuff in this world gets better. It is crazy right now.
Glad the soldiers returned home ok, that picture is too cute. That Pittsburgh story is madness, very tragic. Looks like that Dallas officer jumped before he was pushed, because he knew he abused his power.
What is the world coming to?? Too much is going on!! Pray ya’ll!!
May God give the families of those police officers strength during their time of mourning!
smh… thats a damn shame, theres some mad people out there..
—All those “returning soldiers” are just going to be re-deployed back out into the
—Middle East anyway. Especially after the war with Iran finally pops off. There was
—an anti-Iran propaganda segment on “60 Minutes” last night.
—These stories concerning gun violence and the killing of “police officers” is a pretext
—to modifying and amending the right to bear arms right before they declare martial
—law in this society when all hell breaks loose.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire community in Pitt…I am a police officer in Oakland, CA and on March 21st, 2009, we experienced a similar tragedy. This is a time for the entire community to rally together. Unlike Oakland, I hope they do not honor the “monster” that murdered those Officers. Rest In Peace my brothers…see you on the other side!
He better had resigned…shoot
A bottle of pee-bee-gone could have saved three lives.

——Hopefully you’ll meet the same fate soon enough, damn devil.
Poor Judah…
