PITTSBURGH OFFICER SHOOTING

On Saturday, Margaret Poplawski called 911 so that police could kick out her son, Richard, after the two argued over a dog urinating in the house.
When Officers Stephen Mayhle and Paul Sciullo II arrived, Poplawski opened the door, unaware that Richard was standing behind her with a rifle. Officer Sciullo, 37, died of wounds to the head and torso and Officer Mayhle, 29, was shot in the head. Officer Eric Kelly, 41, arrived to help the first two officers, but was killed in the street.
Poplawski is charged with three counts of criminal homicide, as well as nine counts of attempted homicide — one each for the eight officers who were shot at in a SWAT vehicle, and a ninth for one who was shot in the hand as he tried to help Officer Kelly.
