Kid Cudi gets on top of Lady GaGa’s acoustic version of her #1 Billboard hit, “Poker Face” with Kanye West and Common, which I originally loved when I heard it. I can appreciate the new version, it’s very interesting and I like the way the sampled Lady GaGa’s vocal. I guess my question is: will this make Kid Cudi’s album? Last I heard, he still had people submitting tracks. Cudi needs to strike while the iron is hot!

I’ve always been a fan of Dre & Vidal’s productions, so I’m glad to hear Mario working with them. Their songs are always so smooth, they have such a laid back sound, even with their upbeat tracks. “Come Back to Me” is from Mario’s latest recording sessions. I’m hoping that Dre & Vidal have contributed more to the album, I think they have a really great sound.

New music from Chingy, who I’ve heard is currently recording a new album in Atlanta. I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t a little confused about what Chingy’s situation is, as far as labels. Chingy previously was on Ludacris’ Disturbing tha Peace label, but later tried to detach himself from the brand, but with his last couple of projects, he’s been with Ludacris again. In any event, “She Get It In” isn’t necessarily my favorite. I think that Chingy needs to fill that void that Nelly’s left with a more pop-tinged sound.
♫ Usher – Secrets (full) – listen
It’s been said that Usher is working on a new project to put out this year, where he is working with The Neptunes and Adam Levine. Good thing, too, considering that major disappointment with Here I Stand. “Secrets” may be from these new sessions, but it also could be leftover material from his last album. The track is, again, produced by Dre & Vidal, and although it’s a little more uptempo, it still carries that same laid back sound.
Nothing really great.
I quite like the Usher song. Can’t really be bothered with the rest.

Wow that Poker Face song was really raunchy. I thought Kid Cudi was different, guess not. I also see that Common clearly sold out. All that consciousness went out the window when the money got low. These guys will do anything for Fame even if it means dumbing themselves down and subjecting the masses to trash, smdh.

Brian I agree with you 100%, Dre and Vidal are two of the best producers to do it today and I hope that they do work with Mario and actually put his great voice to use.

Love Mario’s voice! This song is cool. I just want him to pick it up with a more uptempto song. Chingy needs to find a 9-5, ASAP! Usher needs to shave. lol Still love his sound and his music. I agree that people, including myself, slept on his last album. I actually liked all of his singles so far. Just didnt buy the album for some reason.

Anytime you sell close to 15 million albums for one album anything after that will most likely be a commercial failure by anyones standards. Now, don’t get me wrong “Confessions” is, was and will always be a classic R&B album but if you really take the time to listen to “Here I Stand”, you will see how great that album was as well. We all have our opinions, which is what we are entitled to as individuals and I personally think that Usher’s last CD is, was and will always be the hotness too. Mind you, I don’t think he’s the greatest entertainer ever, but I’m a singer, so I know when someone can sang and not just hold a tune and Usher is defintely one of the best out here right now. Apparently Lady Gaga was scheduled to be on Jamn9.45. She had a list of questions which were not to be asked; the meaning of ‘Poker Face’ being one of them. Needless to say the interview was cancelled. She wrote that song with the intended subliminal message ‘Poker Her Face’ in it, at one point in the song she actually says “fu*ck her face”.
It’s quite obvious she didn’t want to be responsible for the vulgar message so she let this thirsty phony ‘artist’ take it along with the slack. Now when she’s asked about the song’s true meaning she’ll simply put it on the puppet Cudi and the rest of those losers who rapped on it. This song is porn on a cd, wow. It’s no wonder the original by Gaga has been banned in certain countries. Is this what the music industry has become? We are being bombarded with sexually explicit lyrics and music, some subliminal which have a far greater affect on the conscious mind. This music requires no thought it appeals to our lower levels, making some easliy controlled and conditioned.

There is nothing “beast” about Kid Cudi. Im sick and tired of people calling him new, fresh and innovative. His music has the same exact material that every other artist has out there. He’s rapping about aliens, space, robots, and the moon. I can name you 5 songs that have the word ‘moon’ in it and countless other songs referencing aliens and space or spaceships. Can’t you guys see there is no originallity in the industry, and that you are being programmed to think a certain way??
I used to think Janelle Monae was on some new ish untill I realized how many other people are talking about the same exact things she is, whether its Pop, R&B, or Hip Hop. It’s all the same, no originality. I wouldn’t be surprised if these ‘artists’ are handed a list of things they have to sing or rap about as soon as they sign that contract. And why does Concrete Loop constantly calling Usher’s album Here I Stand a disappointment? It did not sell as well as his previous cds, but it is a good album nonetheless.
Sorry no matter how you spin it, “here I stand” was a huge disappointment. It barely went Platinum and had only one hit, although i actually enjoyed the cd. Same with Mariah’s last cd. Platinum for someone like them is a disappointment, especially when you look at the money it costs to produce and promote artist of there stature. They didn’t even have big singles, where as some like Rihanna sold over 2 million cd’s and over 6 million downloads of her singles, thats a success.
