Here’s a new track that was leaked from Brandy’s Human sessions. It’s supposedly produced by Bryan-Michael Cox, who was initially supposed to be executive produce Brandy’s latest effort. The song is similar to the last cut on Brandy’s album, “Fall.” In any event, I always think that Brandy’s voice sounds amazing on any track that she touches, but I’m not sure whether or not it fit in with the overall feel of the album. Brandy, however, is already in the studio working on new material with Tricky Stewart. Should be interesting.

Teairra Mari is still on the promo trail for her sophomore album. I was hoping that she would be getting a little more promo with her new songs, but it seems as though it’s not taking off as quickly as I had hope. I’m not sure what’s going on with her project, At That Point, but new music is leaking. “Deja Vu” is not the best of the new material, but it’s produced by The Movement and still carries that pop/R&B sound that Teairra has been going for this go ’round.

Another artist who has been laying low. Disturbing Tha Peace’s Jarvis dropped a single last summer, but we never heard anything else from him. Here’s the new track, “Superman,” which takes from the popular Souljaboy song “Crank Dat.” The song was produced by Jazze Pha, and you can definitely hear him on the background vocals during the chorus. I’m hoping that DTP decided to put the time and energy (and money) into his project, because they haven’t been making much noise with any of their artists, aside from Ludacris…
♫ Johnta Austin – I’m A Mess (full) – listen
I think that Johnta Austin is a very talented songwriter — probably one of the most successful in the game, but it seems as though he just can’t break into the industry as an artist. And with all these writers and producers putting out albums (Keri Hilson, The Dream on his second, Ryan Leslie, etc.), Austin has to feel some kind of way with suffering from Sean Garrett syndrome. Ocean Drive has songs leaking left and right, but seems as though it will never see the light of day. His material isn’t bad, and his voice isn’t half bad either… so why can’t Johnta catch on?

Johnta is WHATS UP right now. I am curious myself as to why people have not caught on to him. To me he is a better writer than Neo and has a better voice. Love the Brandy track but this woman has one the greatest voices and tone and can do know wrong in my eyes. Why didn’t Human do better the whole album is fire. Anywayz looking forward to the knew album hopefully dropping at the end of the year!
I like the Brandy track. I am a big fan of Brandy. @ 25 I agree! Please Brandy bring that new album out this year and do some duets with Usher, etc. Brandy’s voice is so soothing and awesome! She has one of the best singing voice out there and although I am a Beyonce fan, Brandy should be where beyonce is in the music industry, that voice and the way she sings has true, real emotionally meaning. It’s like you can feel she means what she is singing. I hope one day soon I can have that effect when I sing, just Like B-Rocka Brandy!

@28- Someone on CL always has to bring B into a post lol, well B stans are amongst the most obsessed out there so it wouldn’t surprise me if they bought multiple copies from different stores. And B is heavily promoted, when her albums due for release she goes heavy on promoting it, you can’t turn on your computer without 10 ads for I am Sascha appearing on websites.

What amazes me is how many people claim to “LOVE” Brandy, and her album flops hards, but Beyonce has sooo many people that claim to dislike her, and her album sells sooo well.

The reason Bey sells so well is because she targets the mainstream market. Brandy use to target this same market when she first came out but then she got pregnant, faked a marriage and in all honesty grew up. Her image completely changed and her music became more organic, honest and soulful. Thus she became a lot less mainstream even though she had become a better artist. Concreteloop has a lot of REAL r&b fans as posters so an artist like Brandy is gonna appeal to a lot of folks at this board which is why she gets a lot of positive feedback here. Beyonce has a good voice and is a wonderful entertainer. The girl is talented! But if you ask a REAL r&b fan who they would rather listen too, chances are they would pick Brandy. But Bey has the hype, promotion, image and mainstream look that the pop market LOVES! This is why she sells more than her r&b peers. Doesn’t make her a better artist, it just means she has the right image.

@ 35 I could not agree more. I love my Brandy since day one and have all of her albums. Her new album in which she said on twitter should be due later this fall she is working with Ne-Yo, The Dream, Tricky Stewart and Timbaland. This album will be hot and she said there will be more party records on here and plus she is signed to new management Rhythm Nation which is Jay-Z management team so she will be good I pray.

Call me crazy, but I actually liked the Teairra Mari song better than the Brandy song. I love myself some Brandy ever since I was 8 years old and she came out with “I wanna be down.” But I really wish she would do away with that tired special effect on her voice. And just sing already! I’m also feeling the Johnta song. I think he’s not catching on because his voice is mediocre. Either that or he doesn’t look sexy enough.
#43 – Brandy doesn’t sing with effects on her voice.. I mean, of course there is mastering, but her voice is naturally smooth like that. If you go to youtube and listen to her recent live performances or her doing an acapella it’s obvious. Her voice changed and showed MAJOR growth between Never Say Never and the Full Moon album.
These other singers get effects on their voice to sound like Brandy.

Haven’t listened to any of the music, but the reviews sound promising, and I will listen to them after class.
And WHY must people bring Beyonce (and although I haven’t read her name yet but I see it constantly in other posts) or Rihanna in every post? Focus on the people actually mentioned.
Love Love Brandy but this song with B.cox is lackluster. she’s too versatile for this boring mess. I can’t wait for her new album that’s in the works though. Tricky Stewart and The Dream were in the studio with her and Tricky said on his twitter page that “In the studio with Brandy , man her Voice is CRAZY” so maybe even he was shocked that there are no effects on her voice. she has her own sound people.
Big Von, I’ve seen Brandy perform live a couple of times and she has the most beautiful voice without effects and tricks. It’s smooth and her arrangements and harmonies are SICK and have been since she was 13. Although some of her producers tricked out the occasional word or phrase on Never Say Never, they didn’t need to and if you check a few youtube clips, you’ll have confirmation of that fact. She and India.Arie have some of the most beautiful, raw voices in r&b and I need them to record an acappella duet for the next album. Peace, y’all.
