Chrisette Michele has been on the promo trail with her first single, “Epiphany,” but it seems as though they are gearing up to release her second single, “Notebook,” from her sophomore set, Epiphany, which is set to hit stores May 5th. I actually really dig this song a lot more than the initial single. It’s interesting to hear Chrisette sing like this as well. She has sort of stepped away from that original jazz vocal that popularized her on rappers’ hooks.

Here’s the final CD quality version of the new Monica song we posted a couple of weeks ago. If this is indeed the new single, I’m not mad at it. I just hope that the rest of the material on the new record will pan out, because Monica really needs to come strong and solid this time around. I feel like a lot of her fans were very disappointed with the last record, The Makings of Me. So this is her chance to redeem herself.

The boys of One Chance are still working on their debut album, Private, but I’m just not sure if all this work is in vain. It seems like a new track from them leaks every week. What will their album consist of? It’s a terrible thing, especially considering I was rooting for these boys at the beginning of their career, but there’s some of this material that’s leaking, I can’t even vouch for. “In the City” being one of them.

Just recently, we posted the new single from Sammie featuring Young Joc, and now it seems as though new material from Sammie’s new project, Coming of Age is making it’s way on to the internet. I actually am digging this new song, and haven’t been disappointed in a lot of Sammie’s material. The production on the mid-tempo song is pretty cool and laid back. I think Sammie’s album may shape up to be pretty interesting.

The Sammie track already leaked in September of 2007 sung by One Chance entitled ‘Just A Playa’.
Monica’s song is nice. So is Sammie’s. Chrisette Michelle song is okay. But she is a great artist. I liked her last cd. I will be getting the new one.
I LOVE Chrisette’s song!! She’s definitely taking a step forward with this new album. She did the classic jazz style on “I Am”, I think she wants to show that she can do a contemporary sounding record, too.
Monica’s is nice and pleasant sounding. Sort of reminds me of a Keyshia Cole song. Still, Mo sounds great. She deserves commercial success again.

Man, I love Chrisette`s new song!!!!! This girl has such range and she`s definitely ol` skool. This is what I call great music. I don`t listen to “mainstream” radio anymore, and haven`t for a LONG minute, because real talented artists like Michelle are passed by for the bubble gum pop/hip hop style. Her songs will pass the test of time because they`re not fleeting. She is someone, who, the Industry should be giving more exposure to.
I just got sick and tired of the garbage that the Industry continues to breed and said, “no more”. You see, I`m ol` skool as I grew up in The 70s/80s…a golden time in music. A time when music touched the depth of your spirit and the essence of ones` being. Today, the music seemed to have stopped and, all that is left are catchy hooks with no real substance. Chrisette wants to bring a rebirth to music and I`m definitely geared for the ride. I love her and will continue to support, with my dollars, all her work. I love her debut album and I`m sure her sophomore effort will be no exception..
I love Monica’s last album…Almost every song was Hot and the one’s I didn’t care for are definetly still listenable. I’ll definetly be getting the new one!!!!
I think all of the songs are pretty good. I’m really excited for Chrisette Michelle’s new material, I love her new song Epiphany as well as Notebook.
I can not stop playing Chrisette Notebook I like it better than Epiphany .. Regardless I will be picking up my copy on May 5. Its time to support good music.

If Usher don’t let One chance bring out a cd already! We never got a first cd from One Chance, they have the potential to blast Day 26 out the water! If Usher will not promote This awesome singing group, why not let another record label get them? What is going on with Usher? I want a One Chance cd already and stop with the “new single” from them until you have a official cd coming out with the group. Come on Usher get it together and I pray Usher’s new cd coming this year is another Confessions type with the vibe and smoothness it had even 8701 cd and not that crap here I stand.
I love Chrisette’s new joint! I’ve been blasting it for the last two days. It’s more than okay it’s as great as “Golden” and much more better than “Epiphany”. I love it! I love it!… wish I still wrote about someone special in my notebook ;-P

Chrisette – Not a fan so I didn’t listen. Maybe I’ll try to get into her music one of these days since I am apparently missing out.
Monica – I like it. Would this launch Monica into the status she had back in the 90s? No, but at least it won’t disappoint her fans. It falls into Monica’s classic, vulnerable sound.
One Chance – Didn’t even listen to more than 1 minute. I mean. It’s like they took every cliche’ and threw them all into one song. Terrible song writing. They do have good singing talent, but songs like this will get them forever shelved. Haven’t they been putting (well, TRYING to put) out this cliche music since the beginning? Hmmm…if it’s not working, shouldn’t they try something different? I’m just sayin’.
Sammie – It’s okay. Was never really a Sammie fan b/c he’s just that “typical R&B guy”. His voice has definitely matured though.

I don’t like Chrisette’s song because she sounds like all the other boring cookie cutter comercial (CCC!) artists on the radio! Her jazzy vocals is what makes her special! Don’t do it Chrisette! Don’t assimilate!
In an interview, Monica stated this isn’t her lead single for her new album. I like it, and I love Mo, hopes she is successful with this album.

One Chance-I usually think their songs are generic but I’m pleasantly surprised by this one. I don’t know what the hold up is with Usher promoting this group either. I think they’ve been out since 2005 or 2006. That’s sad, hopefully they will get to release something eventually.
Sammie-Another nice one. I always thought he had a good voice, but a little on the generic side. He needs standout production to make him more charismatic.

IMO Monica’s last album sucked. This song is ok but I don’t see it bringing her “back” Monica’s greatest effort today IMO was “After The Storm” now that album was a comeback! I wish her the best anyways because she is one of the few out there who can actually sing.

I knew the label would mess up Chrisette Michelle’s career. The jazz can be fused with the R and B, she did it on her first album (track 12). Just need the right producers. Her vocals are fine, but it is just not her.

Can”t hear any of the music at work, but The Makings of Me was a great CD, I think she just didn’t make videos for the right songs such as Why Her and Hell No. R&B cds don’t do good anymore, not because the cds aren’t good, but because not enough people are supporting it.
