First Lady Michelle Obama pictured taking off her jacket to help plant a tree in Washington, DC on Wednesday afternoon.
In observance of Earth Day, Mrs. Obama, along with her husband President Barack Obama, participated in the event at the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. The event was organized by the Student Conservation Association, an Americorp organization.
Earlier in the day, President Obama signed the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act that intends to more than triple the AmeriCorp volunteers to over 250,000 in the United States costing taxpayers roughly a billion dollars a year, over the next five years. (View more pics below).

Please…always planting somebody’s plants and trees. I guess we’re all now supposed to be planting trees everywhere in a vain effort to “save the planet”? BS!
What kills me with this country is that the corporations dump tons of toxic waist into the drinking waters, plow down rain forests and other national reserves, burn all types of harmful chemicals into the atmosphere and then give us cancerous toxic cleaning agents for our homes so we can kill ourselves. Then WE need to take responisibilty for what they are doing to the planet. Ok sure.
I just read an article the other day about how the drug companies are legally dumping over 271 million pounds of pharmaceuticals into the drinking water. Federal and industry officials dont regularly check the amounts being dumped and dont even know how much more of these drugs are being released into our water. The article said even dilluted amounts of some of the drugs are harmful for the aquatic life and causes human cells to fail to grow.

The whole point of it all is to set an example by doing it yourself. But putting words into action to inspire others to pick up the trend. We are losing our trees. In some places it is a rarity to see something as simple as a tree. Go Michelle!
