First lady Michelle Obama walks the family’s new Portuguese water dog Bo, followed by U.S. President Barack Obama and their daughters, Malia and Sasha during the dog’s introduction to the White House press corps at the South Lawn of the White House Tuesday, April 14th in Washington, DC.
The six-month-old puppy is a gift from Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA) who owns several Portuguese water dogs himself. This breed of dog is considered a good pet for children who have allergies, as Malia does.

Honestly, I can’t stand looking at this dog because it’s so ugly (to me). Couldn’t they have gotten a cuter dog–like a dachshund, or a wire hair fox terrier, or at least a Golden Retriever!–but then again, a Kennedy gave it to them…

I have never in my life seen a race of people so obsessed with hair and clothes. Malia and Sasha are children. Children play outside and their hair isn’t always going to be in place. Black women really need to deal with this obsession. I say “black women” because sisters are the only ones I hear whining and crying about someone’s hair. Kids will be kids, so get over it, NYC gurl. Dang, what are you going to do with your children? Call them in every second to make sure every strand of their hair is in place? Again, relax sister. There are bigger fish to fry!
