American Idol’s 2007 champ Jordin Sparks is back with her first single from her sophomore album, “Battlefield.” The track was produced by Ryan Tedder, who was largely responsible for a few hits over the past couple of years, including Leona Lewis’ “Bleeding Love,” the crossover Timbaland/OneRepublic hit, “Apologize” and more recently, Beyonce’s “Halo.”
Although Jordin’s new album has yet to be titled, it has a schedule release date of July 14th, via Jive Records and she’s rumored to have clocked in studio time with Timbaland, Jesse McCartney, and there is a rumored duet with Leona Lewis.

A LOT OF THE RYAN TEDDER’S BEATS LIKE THIS ONE HAVE BASSLINES THAT ADD A REAL THROWBACK R&B VIBE THAT I LIKE, LIKE FROM THE “BLACKSTREET” AND “SILKK” R&B DAYS. SAME WITH THE BASSLINE THAT “BLEEDING LOVE” HAS.

Love Jordin Sparks is beautiful, with NICE character and personality….she’s always SO positive and straight forward about her “well being”….However, if I’m being completely honest, this track is about as DRY as a 90 year old woman’s vagina, it s NOT good, and that’s the NICEST I can put it.

anyway she sounds different to me. her voice always changes imo. and i feel like her voice doesn’t stand out enough. i have trouble id’ing her voice sometimes. i think it’s a good song for her. this is her type of music and it’s good in that sense.

Love Jordin! But, it seems that she sings random songs. Its like she hasn’t found her niche yet. I personally think she can be a young Mariah.
I never understood why the made Jordin into a pop artist, a wack pop artist at that. “No Air” will always be her best song.

I personally love it, and the production is very good, I like Ryan Tedder’s stuff. I think this will be a radio hit and pop chart hit on both sides of the Atlantic… and there’s nothing wrong with that. A duet with her and Leona would be weighty cos them girls can sang.

hot song….should do good on the radio…if she doesn’t have a good video it won’t do as good….it would be hotter if she had a rapper who is BIG right now on the track…but it has a retro feel to it. but i don’t think its like beyonce or rihanna kind of music

I never once mentioned the sizes of these other artists so I am not too sure what you are talking about. One hing I won’t do is debate on a blog with people I don’t know and will proably never see or meet.
FYI, I am not a Jordin Sparks fan regardless but I do think she sheds light on certain sitautions. Again you don’t have to be a 0, 4, or a darn 8, nor do you have too have every designer bag or shoe to be noticed (which I am more then sure she can prolly go cop one or two). That was my point.

One of the reasons why the industry sucks is because their is no genuine artistry- everyone’s working with the same songwriters and producers. If I were a singer I wouldn’t be working with Tedder, I’d actually work with artists and writers that I respected because of their great artistry i.e. Prince, Lenny Kravitz, Sade, Sia etc. Why is it that artists nowadays, especially the famous ones stick to the same producers and writers? I’m starting to think its because they’re not that talented or passionate about music! Surely there are people that Jordin would rather work with rather than just calling up the hottest renta-producer! Where’s the creativity at?
