Ummm can i please correct one thing.. Amarie didnt come up with this style. She stole it from Kelis…. If you listen to kelis’s older stuff even her newer stuff this all sounds like a watered down version of it all.. And if you didnt tell me this was Amarie, i would have thought it was kelis with a bad cold…..its aiight… she is trying to hard…. i dont think her effort will be noticed much tho…..

I like it. I was pleasantly surprised. I don’t know why I just don’t expect much from female r&b artists these days. It has a good energy. Different than anything out for sure. This could possibly do well on the pop charts too if it gets released as a single.

It does sound like something she usually does…but, hey, the girl is trying to satisfy fans and sell music…Janet Jackson seems to be such an anomaly…no one has come close to serving the high energy dance music to ballads the way she did with thinly veiled vocals…she’s the one who started this mtv video singer/dancer phenomenon and most can’t pull it off consistently…timeless music that is…hopefully, Amerie’s videos does the trick…formulas only work for so long…you’ve gotta give people music they can feel…like TLC and Aaliyah…sensuality” is missing…not sexy….but, a sensual approach to music…”the senses”…we feel it…

I like the upbeat approach she seems to be doing for this album. Everybody is trying to do that crossover pop ballad stuff. It’s smart to go in the opposite direction with upbeat tracks like Lady Gaga is doing. She’ll have a better chance of standing out. This track is just ok to me though. I’m a fan so I’m pretty familiar with her work, and this doesn’t sound like an official track to me, just a lil something to keep her buzz going.

@ 18 That doesn’t make any sense. Why would she release Because I Love It in the U.S. now? That album has already been out for 2 years and she actually released two U.S. singles from that album too. Nobody’s going to buy an already old album for just a few new tracks.

I got the same feeling that I got when I first heard 1 Thing…something is missing…bass?..background harmonies/vocals..sounds unfinished. I remember they went back and added vocals and strings to give 1 Thing UMP! and there we had a hit! This has potential but needs more work…looking forward to the new album.

I have been a fan of Amerie ever since I heard a medley of some of her hits on soulbounce.com…she is real. Maybe not the most talented, but who is?

I can’t wait to buy her new album when it drops. I will be purchasing that. Her music just makes you want to dance and do something creative…I like that about an artist. And her lyrics 89 percent of the time are spot on. Its like , “dang…word??”

Sounds just like everything else she did with Rich Harrison (if he did this song) with the bass, snares, trumpets, etc. Sad b/c that album that got shelved by Columbia 2 years ago had a couple of different pop/cross-over songs that could’ve worked for her. She needs to step out of the box. I mean, her vocals are not the best, she strains a lot, and let’s face, an Amerie album is always hit-or-miss, she’s a singles girl and never puts out a solid effort. Wish her the best though, I see she still tryna hang in there but she is not the artist she thinks she is.
