MUSIC NEWS: MAXWELL REVEALS ALBUM COVER + TOUR DATE INFO


♫ Maxwell – Pretty Wings

Maxwell just revealed the cover to his anticipated new album, “BLACKsummers’night,” via his official website. I love it, plus it gives me a reason to post his latest song, “Pretty Wings” again. LOL!

“BLACKsummers’night,” is Maxwell’s first album in over seven years and is set for a July 7th release via Columbia Records (PRE-ORDER HERE).

AWARENESS: DENZEL & PAULETTA AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS @ 6TH ANNUAL NEUROSCIENCE AWARDS

Actor Denzel Washington and his wife Pauletta Washington attend the 6th annual Family Gifted Scholars in Neuroscience Awards at Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. Middle School on Wednesday in Los Angeles, California. Actress Jurnee Smollett and actor Roger Guenveur Smith also attended the event.

The Annual Pauletta and Denzel Washington Family Gifted Scholars in Neuroscience Awards was established in 2004 to support and encourage students to pursue a career in neuroscience. It provides $2,500 monthly support for graduate-level research and $2,000 per month for an undergraduate.

Recipients this year included: Wes Phillips, Marcus Gates, and Marisa Riley (all pictured in that order below).

MINI ROUNDUP: MORE INFO ON UPCOMING NAS & KELIS DIVORCE / MICHAEL VICK RELEASED FROM PRISON

More info just came out this week about the ongoing Nas and Kelis divorce proceedings. According to TMZ sources:

Kelis filed for divorce April 30. She’s weeks from giving birth and unable to work, but no matter to Nas — he’s asking the judge to deny her the spousal support she’s seeking. For bad measure, he also wants her to pay her own lawyer’s fees.

Nas and Kelis both want joint custody of their unborn child.

Kelis cites “irreconcilable differences” for the divorce and word is she believes he was cheating on her. But other rumors indicate that Kelis’ rumored sex tape was the beginning of the end for the couple.

MICHAEL VICK BACK HOME

Former NFL star Michael Vick was released from a federal penitentiary in Kansas Wednesday after serving 18 months for his role in a dogfighting operation.

According to authorities Vick, a former NFL star athlete, will serve the rest of his sentence at his home in Virginia (2 months). NFL sources say they will only reinstate the star athlete if he displays truthful remorse.

“Michael is going to have to demonstrate to myself and the general public and to a lot of people, did he learn anything from this experience? Does he regret what happened?” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said prior to Vick’s release.
