President Barack Obama gives a thumbs-up to the Notre Dame University graduating class of 2009 during the 164th commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 17, in South Bend, Indiana. While, First Lady Michelle Obama delivered the commencement speech at the University of California, Merced on Saturday, May 16.
The President received an honorary law degree from the university and delivered the commencement address amid protests.

Its a beautiful thing, I Love the OBAMAS!!!!!
Michelle always looks like she went through a wind tunnel. SMH
Smart lady though!
Man, I had a dream I was talking to the Obamas…they’re awesome!!!! Black Love!!
I LOVED how he didn’t RUN from the controversy. He addressed it in his speech.
“Michelle always looks like she went through a wind tunnel.” she is going thru a wind tunnel she is the 1st blk 1st lady that crap is hella windy u think. i think she is stepping up her game in the fashion department…keep them in your prayers cause the devil uses blk, smart and rich folk too.
Those protestors were very disrespectful, not to Obama per se, but to their fellow students. Graduating college is a monumental feat and it was very selfish of those so called anti-abortion activists to even attempt to spoil the celebration for so many students. Shame on them!
It also struck me that the biggest and most vocal advocates against abortion are men who can’t get pr egnant. I mean, such a decision is not arrived at lightly, and one gauze cannot be used to cover every s0re. Every situation is unique; therefore, the decision is to be left up to the woman and her family. I mean, frankly, I have seen and read about some women who abused and even m urdered their kids and thought to myself, “Damn, she should have either s w a l lo w e d or have an ab0rtion.”
And another observation, why are the Catholic Church and its priests so against abortion? Maybe they want the kids to be born so they can m! olest them. The more the merrier, I guess.
beautiful, just beautiful, Michelle , really stepped up in the fashison department , truly , beautiful
I LOVE THIS COUPLE. They doing some big things in the white house these days. Never seen a president doing such “different” things. I love it!
I thought he did a wonderful job on the speech in light of all the protesters
What was the protest for? I wish they were at my school:(.
LOL at @6 and the catholic priests. You hit the nail on the head about the anti-abortion “activists”. You see them all emotional about saving unborn “children,” but where do they go when these same “children” are born in poverty? Where is the concern for human life then? It really blows my mind.
Man I would have LOVED for the President and First Lady to come speak at my college graduation!! Haters fall back.
@11
I don’t see anyone protesting against pedophilia. I tell you, people’s priorities are mixed up.
It was so disrespectful for the protestors to heckle during the President’s speech. I don’t understand, here it is we have an intelligent postive black man as President yet they continue to hate on everything he say and does. I am proud of Obama, he has been able to do what NO OTHER BLACK man has been able to accomplish. The mere fact that he is so intelligent, well spoken, articulate, and handsome should be enough of a reason to give him the utmost respect.
I love Michelle she is such a postive role model for ALL woman.
The Obama are truly the hottest couple on the planet!!!!!!!!
No one should have been surprised at the protests seeing as Notre Dame is a Catholic institution. Obama himself was not surprised so I have no idea why his supporters would be surprised. The church system operates as an entity that attempts to cast itself as some type of bastion of morality, so even though it is known that their clergy are pedophiles, they still must maintain a stance on certain issues. It’s all an image anyway because the official religion of America is Catholicism. In order for America to be for abortion, the Catholic church must also be for it behind the scenes, and it falls in line with the worship of Molech which is the true “god” of America’s “god bless America” and “In ‘god’ we trust” (Leviticus 18:21, Psalms 106:35-38). America endorses abortion because Satan needs the blood sacrifice of children, particularly infants, even more particularly black infants.
As an aside; if a child or infant were to be put to death, it falls on the decision of the father, not the mother. It is the father’s seed and he is supposed to be the head. To say that a woman has sole decision-making resposibilities when it comes to the birth or death of a child because she carries the seed is like saying a suicidal driver has the right to drive off of a cliff with another person in the car, because the suicidal person owns the car. It’s normal, European/American worship of the woman. It’s also subliminal support of the wh*redom of these women in America. Brothers defer all the power to the woman and then complain when they get shafted in the court system by the woman.
@Dukesman
The reason why no one protests pedophilia is because to end pedophilia, you would have to restore the family structure. That means the disempowerment and de-glorification of the woman, because she would have to re-assume the role of the caretaker instead of trying to usurp authority over men. The fact of the matter is that children are being molested because they are left unattended. I honestly think that once the situation is broken down, many people would rather leave children to be molested so that they can glorify themselves.
They are my favorite couple!!!
THE Obama’s are the SHIT!
@ Dukesman you hit the nail on the head and by the way I am CATHOLIC!
People’s priorities are really mixed up and it irritates me soo much that men with ugly penises and WITHOUT A UTERUS are the most vocal when it comes to the whole anti abortion thingy. Like what exactly do they know about it? I know how difficult it is for women who do it to even come to that conclusion. Personally, nothing is worse than bringing a child into this sinful world and not being able to take care of him/her. Some may say…well give it up for adoption. Err, i take a pass on that too. What is the guarantee that he/she will be placed in a good home? and the thought of my child calling another woman mommy..Um JUST NO!
With that said, it is not certain what i’ll do when placed in such dilema.
And I really wanted to b&#&#h slap that old lady who is now known as “Roe” from the Roe v Wade trial. Ok you old cargo, because of you, the supreme court legalized abortion and now cos ur old and can no longer conceive, you feel the need to HECKLE THE PRESIDENT @ a commencement speech?? How Hypocritical can people be?? You would think she of all people would not be the one to pass judgment on people.
SMH
Obama looks old. I guess it ain’t as easy when you’re actually in the White House.
@ 15 Judah
Where do you get your info from America is not being ran by Catholicism. We are a Protestant country. That is one of the reasons why people didnt like JFK is because he was Catholic. So where did you get that from? Also, you can be a stay at home mom and your child still has a chance at being molested. There is no way in the world you can protect your child 24/7. Also, do YOU feel inferior to women, because you seen to go hard body against us blaming us for trying to usurp authority from men. You make me laugh.
i’m so proud of the obamas. i watched both of barack’s speeches on cnn.
luv4life, i have been saying that all the time. why do they care so much for children to be born but when they are, what is being done to help them? are these protesters making sure they are being fed, taken care of properly, getting an education? i say no.
judah, people like you always seem to end up blaming the woman/mother when most of the time they’re the only ones involved in their child’s life. now you’re blaming pedophilia on the child’s mother? what about the pedophile, aren’t they to blame?!
@Judah,
I hear you brother and to be honest, I am torn between what is right and what’s wrong; and I have come to the conclusion that in this situation there are no right way or reason to carry out such a despicable procedure. The reason I stated that it is the woman’s decision is clearly simple. In this society, the woman’s emotions and feeling garners so much empathy, it is as if she can do no wrong. The man has no say so by default; it is the woman’s decision. And frankly, if a woman wants to have an abortion there isn’t anything under the sun that the man can do to prevent her from going through with it. The man won’t even know until after she’s gone through with it. She doesn’t even have to tell him she’s pregnant. And if he ever finds out, what can he really do? He can rant and rave all he wants and rip her head off for killing his seed but the fact of the matter is it’s already done.
Should the man have a say in the decision? Absolutely! As a matter of fact, if they really wanted to reduce the abortion rates, lawmakers should make it the man’s decision. I believe abortion rates would drop significantly if left up to the man to decide because a man is way more reluctant to kill his seed. Believe me, abortion has many victims and one of the victims that is mostly overlooked is the father of the child. And on the other hand, the father who wants to defend the life of his child is often accused of meddling in something that is not his business. He will be told in a New York minute, that he cannot tell a woman what to do with her own body. Then if the man realizes he has no say in the matter and leaves the mistaken decision of abortion in the hands of the mother alone is often accused of being uncaring and distant. This, in turn, can create feelings of isolation in the mother, which in turn makes it easier for her to resort to abortion. Another disadvantage of abortion is it fosters irresponsibility in these young men and women. Women use abortions as another means of contraceptive. I guarantee you, if you inject some of these females with “truth serum” they would admit to numerous abortions. And these young men can go get a girl pregnant and leave her to “get rid of it.” Irresponsibility at its highest order!!!
As I wrote the above comment, I realized that it would only be applicable in a situation of two consenting adults. Though we both agree that the decision of abortion should be solely the man’s; what if the woman was raped or the “father is a relative i.e. uncle, step dad of even HER father? Let’s not forget that sometimes we may have a very “black and white” view on things until we or someone close to us find ourselves/themselves in a difficult situation; then things become grey. It is a tough debate and you should be able to see both sides of the coin.
@Judah,
I had to break up my response. Most of it seemed to have been caught up in moderation. I hope you get my point.
@Judah again,
As I wrote the above c o m m e n t, I realized that it would only be applicable in a situation of two consenting adults. Though we both agree that the decision of a b o r t i o n should be solely the man’s; what if the woman was r a p e d or the “father is a relative i.e. uncle, step dad of even HER father? Let’s not forget that sometimes we may have a very “black and white” view on things until we or someone close to us find ourselves/themselves in a difficult situation; then things become grey. It is a tough debate and you should be able to see both sides of the coin.
It should solely be the man’s decision? And if it was the man’s decision there would be fewer abortions?? Why???…Because there is an overwhelming amount of single fathers taking care of their children now, right?…MmmKay.
A child is made from two beings…TWO. So if possible, if given a situation between two consenting beings, the decision to abort should be between the two that will be responsible for taking care of the child. In any other situation such as rape, abuse, single parent hood, the decision to abort depends upon several things but without a doubt the female carrying the child should and will have a say so.
I have not the slightest idea how anyone could possibly or would even want to excuse a woman’s say in a child’s birth, but you better think about your own existence before you claim anything remotely similar to that. What do you think, it’s a simple decision for a woman to make and only a man cares enough to forbid “his seed” from being aborted? Get the fuck outta here. That’s just ridiculous, short sided and pretty damn funny.
@ 6 I totally agree. Graduating is supposed to be a momentous occasion, for one, and two, to have a dignitary like the President of the United States speak at your graduation (some of us just will just never be that lucky) is an honor within itself. I mean even if Bush spoke at someone’s I was attending as against the war as I was I still wouldn’t have showed out. Those protesters are some very selfish individuals. The problem I’ve had with belief is that everyone is entitled to believe what they want, but just because someone else doesn’t agree doesn’t make yours any more right than theirs wrong and vice versa. Some people chile…
@DUKESMAN. In no way should abortion be a man’s decision. And I highly doubt the rate would go down significantly if men could decide. Women are just as often pressured into abortion by men to have an abortion as just deciding to do it all alone.
@Judah. It’s so many things problematic in what you’ve said, I don’t know where to start. I’m not gonna get into a long spiel, but I will say this. Abortion is hardly a result of society’s glorification/hyper-empowerment of the woman. We live in a patriarchal society, not the other way around. Sex has indeed been twisted and skewered in society, but it is hardly ONLY a result of women’s “whoredom,” as you call it. It takes two people to lie down in bed, and the same Bible that forbids women fornicating also forbids it for men. The only difference is that when men decide to move on and continue sewing their oats, women are left with the consequences — pregnancy. Abortion is not my favorite thing in the world, but, in a society that fails to educate women on the best way to protect their bodies and that continually associates their self-esteem with the approval of a man, unplanned pregnancies happen. When men are unwilling to take care of their responsibilities, women bear the consequences of their own mistakes and the men’s.
I agree that if women were cognizant of the value of their bodies, they might not face this issue. But if men were aware of the value of their bodies, they wouldn’t be helping to make these unplanned pregancies either. Both men and women need to recognize who they are and whose they are and approach sex with spiritual and emotional maturity.
@dukesman. Abortion shouldn’t be SOLELY the man’s decision, I mean.
@ANG
You hit the nail on the head. I absolutely agree with everything you said.
I also had a dream I was talking to the Obamas. I guess they just have that effect on some people’s minds. I so love this couple. They are my inspiration.
I love it! The Obama’s give me, hate to sound cliche’, have hope!!!
Liberalism is seriously a mental disorder!
Enough Said
