Its funny how only a few comments go to meaningful articles as opposed to an article with Beyonce shopping or John Legend on a holiday - which can yield up to 200 comments.

@ 4: you are so on point with that observation. people bitch & comment (including me…lol!) about the same tired celebs all the time. this is a great thing that he and other high profile celebs are doing. although this is a celebrity gossip site for entertainment purposes, it’s good to get reports on the positive, meaningful things they tend to do from time to time. good work travis.

I KNOW IT’S AFRICAN CULTURE FOR “SOME” TO HAVE THEIR LITTLE GIRLS PERFORM UNCOVERED ON THE TOP, BUT…..IF TRAVIS HAS AMERICAN CUSTOMS, HE SHOULD HAVE NOT DANCED ALONG SIDE OF THOSE BARE LITTLE GIRLS. IT SHOULD HAVE FELT AKWARD TO HIM AND HE SHOULD NOT HAVE DONE IT. THE PEOPLE OF THAT CUSTOM MAY HAVE FOUND IT DISRESPECTFUL, BUT HE COULD HAVE EXPLAINED THAT IT’S IN BAD TASTE FOR OUR PRACTICES JUST AS IS ISN’T FOR THEIRS!

Good stuff, we need to give more attention to HIV/AIDS and make people more aware of the effects of having sex with single and multiple partners since the world is so dishonest now, even though a lot of us aren’t really listening, especially a lot of the stars ya’ll post everday on CL.
Good job, even though I don’t know him.

This is a good look for him but remember people you don’t have to go the Africa to make a difference. Do it in your own community. Go feed the homeless, help the ederly, or join a ministry at your church.(I preaching to myself as well). It’s truly better to give than recieve. I never understood that until I helped less unfortunate families when I was young..

oh & smh @ 24. pick up a national geographic sometime, there’s a whole world out there beyond the so-called “norms” of your own backyard, as long as no one’s being hurt, i’m not gonna diss em for bein different or make someone feel they should be ashamed because my cultures values of modesty maybe be totally different from theirs.
Those girls arent doing anything wrong, your intentions however seem questionable

@ #39.. I agree.. that is part of their culture.. they are being oogled like they would if they were here.. and please, people show their breasts here! It just that people like to be all “moral” about it.
The best investment for anyone is to get their passport, save up and travel around the world. One of the best educational experiences you will get and you will be shocked by what you will find. Especially if you travel to Africa. Each country is different..and within each country there are so many differences. After you go, you will want to come back and sue the likes of CNN/BBC and other media outlets for lying to you.
Peace!

I wonder if people ask themselves what white peoples’ intense interest in acting as if they want to restore order or power to the darker nations is? Travis McCoy is just a shill that MTV dispatched over to South Africa to “call attention” to how much the South Africans have been destoyed by the Dutch. If they were actually concerned about those people, then the Dutch should leave the country and give the South Africans back control of the muti-billion dollar diamond industry that the DeBeers and the Oppenheimers control through that African devil, Nelson Mandela.

im african i got to say that it is good that he’s doing what he’s doing as far as joining the HIV/AIDS fight but i dont like the way they exploit africans at all..first off they never show US in a good light , instead they choose to focus on the poor countries that and make it seem as though the whole continent of africa is poor!!! worst of all im tired of these phony infomercials on BET that exploit these kids!!!!

@68–Proudly South African. Please do not call people dumb. Ignorant, yes. Naive, yes but not dumb. I think it’s ignorant that you wrote Chinese people wear Kimonos when in actually it is a Japanese tradition.
And Travis is a great U.S. Ambassador for the HIV/AIDS awareness in South Africa. But I’m going to have to agree with Hassandagreat that not many positives showcase Africa’s true beauty. There are many wealthy and gorgeous places in Africa. Can’t wait to visit.

You know JUDAH I didn’t want to believe what you’ve said about Mandela in previous posts, but my sister who’s currently in RSA just made me realize his prison number (which has been venerated btw) is 46664. If that doesn’t open someone’s eyes I don’t know what will. Numbers are everything to the elite, especially that number which was assigned to him during his sentence. It makes sense now as to why all the celebrities flock to go see him, Lord knows what type of rituals they’re engaging in. Oh and btw the girls in Oprah’s school are getting molested on the regular. The American media outlets just dont cover it.

He’s amazing for doing this and to the people who have an issue with the girls topless, its theyre culture leave them alone and travie is not bad for being there. Hes accepting it, i think it would have been an insult if had told them he couldnt because he of that. And with his tattoos, STFU, This has nothing to do with this goddamn tattoos. And for your info his Gauges (EARS) some african cultures find that acceptable and it seems fit for him being in Africa.
Ps. i love him and everything his does. GCHs will always be one of my favorite bands.

#17 isnt that the whole point of culture people having different beliefs and systems???? It is their custom so asking them to cover up for your sake is insensitive . Why assume that covering up is norm there? It’s not Like Travis was salivating at the girls…geee now if it was R.Kelly going over there…then I would see the alarm.
