I normally don’t watch these awards shows. I said I was this time because of the tribute to MJ. I didn’t watch the whole show but from what I saw, no one was good. New Edition danced good but the singing was bad. Beyonce…..I just can’t get with that whole wedding dress thing. Her shoes she wore on the red carpet were killing though. Neyo and Ciara just did not sing well. I didn’t think it was a good show.

This had to be the worst BET Award Show EVER. I was completely disappointed. Not what I expected at all. A few good performances, but overall the show was garbage. I’m done with BET.

CONCRETELOOP STAFF THIS COMMENT IS SPECIFICALLY FOR YOU.
I read your “commentary” on the BET awards show via Twitter, and it was is almost 100% negative, and downright rude. In fact, it wasn’t commentary at all. It was hate. I know the show COULD have been better, but damn, with all things considered don’t you think everyone did a lot in 3 days after hearing the news about Michael Jackson’s death? Of course it wasn’t perfect, but my goodness, you would think that you all had some personal vendetta against the show (and network) from the very beginning. You sat there, typing away and picking apart every small detail that you saw wrong with the show and even at one point called it a failure, among other things. The show was not as good as it could have been but you have to take into account the amount of work it took to change the entire production at the LAST MINUTE.
One of you even audaciously wrote that the show was “coonery” and then in another sentence claimed that BET was perpetuating stereotypical attitudes of African Americans. WOW. And by using such derogatory language, what the hell are you doing? You don’t even have to like BET, but it’s sort of sad how you, and many other African Americans drag each other down during a time where everyone should have been celebrating. The show was supposed to be a fun, and commemorative but from reading your “commentary” it was as if BET had a sole responsibility to cater to your own preferences. WOW. All I’m saying is that while it is fine to dislike this year’s show, you all went about it in such a mean spirited way. Michael Jackson died. For a tribute planned in 3 days, I feel that at the very least, it was a great effort. If you don’t like the show, then fine but don’t go on about how it is “coonery” and “trash” because someone like me reading it, if I was white I would be calling you the same names for even writing that. It’s not the station that makes people look a certain way (on an awards show) it’s the behavior of the PEOPLE. So what you must have been really saying is that you think so and so is a “coon”. Ok, got it.
I loved Concreteloop. I’ve been a huge supporter of your site for ages. However, at the same time, I can’t support the blatant, and unnecessary negativity, so I had to come on and speak my mind. How about we all remember what the show was really supposed to be about: HONORING MICHAEL JACKSON. Mission accomplished. That was definitely not a “FAIL.” I’m really disappointed right now. I thought the CONCRETELOOP STAFF was amazing until yesterday. Are you all mad because you didn’t get to go to the show or what? Damn.

The awards was a mess to me. The original line up pre mj might have went smooth but there was alot of mess ups and performances that left you like “wtf” ie Keri hillson, soulja boy told them nothing, that crap that they call drake/lil wayne/ cash money, plus 13 year old girls and Tiny……. my god why did she get up to get that award. T.I is in jail ashamed.

An please forgive me for no longer being a JayZ fan but people can eat him up if he just say one word. He sucks. And so did his wife, she looked crazy throughout her performance.

The MJ moments were nice, but they used the hell out of neyo and jamie.

The best part of the whole show was the O’Jay tribute LAWD I forgot that Tyrese can sing like that. and also when Janet came out.

I don’t care if they only had an hour to put the show together. All of the vulgar language, off color jokes, shucking & jiving…They could’ve done w/o. Jamie Foxx’s dialogue wasn’t funny at all. It was just a bunch of shameful, ignorant & despicable behavior that had nothing to do with the show being put together last minute. My people really disappoint me sometimes.

The end of Keri Hilson’s performance prompted me to change the channel. And Tiny needs to leave the face alone before she ends up looking like Lil Kim. Ne-Yo made me cry and the end of Jaime’s set made me smile again.

very disappointed in Usher, Mariah, Chris Brown and Justin Timberlake. Here’s why Usher should have “moved mountains” to come celebrate his “idol”. IF it was not for Mike he would not have the Mansions and Fame. Mariah Carey, HORRIBLE she redid Mike’s “i’ll be there”, but her lazy non-singing butt, she wanted to go shoot a video instead, did she forget she had a number 1 with “i’ll be there”. I give it to BET for putting the show together in just three days but they could have kept it, they should have cut a lot of that stuff out and saved 44mins.I loved the tributes to Michael but the hype behind what was supposed to happened only let me down when I saw it.But Jamie Foxx had me cracking up.

I thought most of the women dressed at the event was terrible; being the worst were Keri Hilson and Beyonce. Big disappoints.

A lot of the celebrities were representing. I especially thought Latoya Luckett, Alicia Keys, and Wendy Raquel looked nice.

And BET don’t give Toccora the mic no more. Too ghetto and totally unprofessional, doesn’t know how to conduct an interview at all.

And this was the worse BET awards show I have ever seen. Even the performers who were previously slated to sing (before MJ’s death) did a horrible job. Hopefully there will be a dedication that truly entails his music to the world. BET should have just showed photos throughout his career at the beginning of the show and let the audience now a tribute was in the works later on BET. What they did, to me, was an embarrasment to the fans, the family, Michael Jackson, and BET.

The show was good considering a lot of things had to be flip flopped at the 11th hour. My two favorite performances was NE doing the J5 medley, and Tyrese, Trey Songz, and Johnnie Gill paying tribute to the Mighty OJays…them brothas killed and looked so dang on good in those black suits. The O Jays did a great job themselves. I was suprised to see Tevin Campbell hasn’t changed and looked alright. I wasn’t really impressed with anyone’s outfits this year. Also Monica showed Keyshia Cole up on her own song…I was confused as to who’s song it was.

Don Cornelious was a mess! Why did they get that old man up there. He took up about 10-15 min.
