@ 2 totally agree. Last night’s show was an embarrassment! The first major awards show able to do tribute to Michael, by his own people, and they get a big FAIL in my book. All that press about changing the show around, all the stars calling in and wanting to be a part of it, I never saw it.

That was truly an emotional moment seeing that picture of both of them together. It brings back memories of being young again and enjoying his music and appreciateing it so much when I was in high school. It kinds of reminds you of how innocent it was growing up in the 80’s when we took nothing for granted and appreciated life for what it was. We are truly living in different times now and all we can do is pray that we will have the strength to make it through his funeral/memorial service.

When Janet first walked out…my heart skipped a beat! It was all in her face! The way she said, “To you, Michael is an icon, to us, Michael is family”….I teared up for the first-time. I was amazed how Joe Jackson was super-relax and laid-back while Janet barely could hold her composure! @ #3 We all know that the bet awards had some flaws, but you cant knock the effort that they given. You gotta understand that they only had a few days to put it together. Even though there were mistakes, you cant deny the love that was given last night.
The Bet show reminded me of a backyard party. You had the the drunk uncle who would slip up and say the wrong things( Eddie Levert). You had the grandfather who had the longwinded stories( Don Cornelius) and you hand the crazy cousin (Jaime Fox). Overall i thought the show was great. They may want to doctor it up before they show reruns but great.

That made me tear up last night. Be strong Janet! Can you believe she was actually in the middle of shooting a movie when she heard the news? So sad!

As for the award show, I wasn’t expecting much so it was OK for me. As well as every other BET award show I have watched, there were parts that i laughed and parts that i tuned out and turned the channel.

I enjoyed Mary Mary with Queen Latifah, Neyo, Cici doing “Heal the World” and Keyshia&Monica, as well as some of the jokes. Somehow, Jamie made it comfortable to laugh. Kudos.

BET is the worst network ever. I’m not even going to list all the ignorance in that show. We have to do better.

Neyo did the best in his tribute to MJ.

That was the worst damn show ever! And besides Neyo singing the MJ song, all the rest of it was a pitiful attempt at a tribute. Instead of rushing, they should have just waited and did a tribute show later. That poor excuse for a tribute, with Jamie Fox and his dumb jokes, just made me sick. It wasn’t a dignified expression of how most people truly felt about him. Jamie foxx is so damn ghetto, with his corny azz jokes sometimes.

Beyonce’s performance was the worst! I mean, what the hell! What kind of tribute was that suppose to be? I can’t stand that dumb azz bytch! WHat was the whole point of dressing in the wedding frock? I can’t stand that dumb bytch! And i swear she drinks her water with grease, cause she gains weight so easily. Her shoulders and neck looked much bigger than she’s been looking in recent weeks. That’s all a result of crash dieting and then going back to eating, and her body holds onto the weight. How many young 20 year olds wear support hose on a regular?!

I am sure that many ideas but it is also about whether the artist confirms that they were willing to do a last minute MJ tribute. I WAS VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED IN BEYONCE! Her performance was more for a Beyonce concert….not a AWARD SHOW performance! But I was even more disappointed that she didnt sing a song Michael’s!! She know she could have done that!! It was very hard to see her speak last night, but i was so glad to just catch a glimpse of her cause i wanted to know how she was doing….i cried when she spoke, i mean i literally cried. I watched the award show last night, and I was very disappointed. This award show was supposed to be a dedication to Michael Jackson, but it was more about promoting these non-talented singers. The best part was Neyo, and Jamie singing. I also enjoyed Janet speaking on behalf of the family it brought tears to my eyes.

God rest his soul, and may the family find some peace during this difficult time.

The BET AWARDS SUCKED!!! That was the Worst Tribute Ever…It was totally rushed and thrown together and you could tell. They should have waited until next year and have gotten more organized for Michael. I honestly wish they would have stuck to the original plan. They should have had different celebrities doing different songs in their own way,for one portion of the show paying the respects to the POP KING. I really was disappointed.I was looking forward to seeing Bey perform Ego,or Single Ladies,instead i got something that was totally off subject but still well song. The only part i liked was Soulja Boy,and the Neyo & Jamie duet. They definitely shouldnt have let them perform Every Girl,that was a disgrace to the network.

Yeah, what was with those random lil girls around Drake when there rapping “I wish I could ‘love’ every girl in the world”? Even though the chorus was edited,…everybody knows the meaning of the song! This award show was a disappointment. BET spent more time promoted these non-talented singers that dedicating this show to Michael Jackson. I love Janet Jackson coming out to speak on behalf of her family, and I could feel her pain. Neyo did a great job honoring Michael Jackson. BET needs to be overhauled, its a disgraced to me.

The 2009 BET Awards for the most part was a complete train wreck. BET had a chance to put on a special tribute to Michael Jackson, the greatest entertainer that lived and with the world watching they failed miserably. For starters the opening number by New Edition looked poorly rehearsed; the performance seemed rushed and disorganized. In my opinion the audience would have been better served with an opening video featuring highlights of Michael’s career. I think Jamie is a great all around entertainer; however some of his opening comments about Michael were quite disrespectful. I understand the intent was to celebrate his life, however Michael’s death has stirred a deep sadness amongst his fans and while we want to celebrate his life, it could have been done in a more tasteful and respectful manner. I also thought Jamie completely made the show all about him which was uncomfortable to watch.

The performances that followed for the most part were entertaining; I especially enjoyed Neyo and Ciara’s tribute to MJ. They were both simple and heartfelt. The performance by Lil Wayne and his pose was completely inappropriate and disgusting. Here you have a man singing about wanting to “LOVE” every girl in the world and raping obscenities that was uncomfortable for many adults and to make things worst he was allowed to parade the stage with young girls bumpy their heads to this mess. How INAPPRPROIATE, this garbage should not have been broadcast on live TV.

The only redeeming segments of last night show was Janet Jackson’s emotional appearance, which I am sure was appreciated by Michael’s fans. Also the Humanitarian segment that honored the works of Alicia Keys and Wyclef was great and both Alicia and Wycelf gave classy and appropriate acceptance speeches.

I commend BET for trying to pay tribute to Michael, but they could’ve left those weak performances by Ciara and Beyonce out and just made a documentary and kept the comments people made at every break of the show and the Janet moment. Janet knows how to give her respects. If I’m to go by Joe’s CNN interview where he was pimping his company or something, I’d have to say Janet’s father could learn from her. Joe mostly helped me understand Michael’s choices a bit more. I’m sure he loves Michael but it seems like business and turning the page as QUICKLY as possible on someone’s death is the more important thing for Joe… possibly to carry on easier… but still. So despite what he may truly feel, Joe came across more like a cold-ish executive. Emotionally, Michael and Janet are probably more like their mom. I hope Michael’s kids grow up happy and well adjusted.

I also wish, like Joe said he wishes, that Michael could’ve seen the tons of people who still have love for him. Some of us probably didn’t even realize how much love we have for MJ until that horrible day. For Joe to say he wishes Michael could see that, must mean Michael really, really felt the loss of love that a lot of people used to show for him. I’m not going to be as harsh on Janet anymore as I was at times…. well if it’s really unnecessary. My heart goes out to the Jackson fam and everyone who’s affected by this tragedy.

The show probably could have been better if Debra Lee and BET stop kissing jayz and beyonce’s azz.

OVERALL THE SHOW WAS HORRIBLE AND DISGRACEFUL!

that photo of them is gorgeous!! like many others, janet also brought me to tears. their whole family is really in my prayers. i really won’t judge joe jackson based on his public actions. now what i WILL judge is the foolishness that was lil wayne’s performance. smdh 4EVER!!!!!! they really could’ve saved that entire perfromance. they had to bleep out half the crap they said. no one was even hype off of it. the only time they even got a lil bit of applause was when they said something about mj….which i was more or less INSULTED by considering how ignorant the performance was. oh and most shocking, lil wayne actually allowed his DAUGHTER and her lil buddies onstage to sing and shake a tail feather to “i wish i could f*ck every girl in the world”!!!!!!!! u gotta be effin kiddin me! i was outraged. completely outraged! i was also offended by beyonce singing about angels in her panties, smh. it was just so sacrilegious. i just really wish she would have worn a nice white evening gown or something. overall, i don’t think the show was terrible. for everything to be changed at the last minute, it didn’t turn out THAT bad. it just had a few wtf moments lol.

also, i really LOVE how the family has taken the time to speak publicly during such a tragedy. there are many others that wouldn’t do the same. so being so selfless is just really beautiful. they understand how much he was loved by everyone…and so they’re taking the time to comfort and thank others. absolutely beautiful.

Wow, from everybody’s said about that BET award show, looks like I didn’t miss anything that special. Glad I didn’t waste my time looking at the vids on youtube. I only searched for Janet’s part…. and New Edition’s but NE didn’t impress me. Janet must have been one of the few great things about the show.

I knew it, i was hoping that he would have left eveything to her because the rest of them are broke and money hungry. I’m not suprised that he left it to her because mj and janet were the closer to each other than the rest. I’m praying that she keeps the children as well.

I didn’t watch the BET awards and i don’t think i want to, my definition of a tribute is all the artist singing mj’s song, not promoting themselves.

The show was tasteless and disrespectful. BET could have atleast dedicated 30mins of the show to Michael uninterrupted. I could care less if the show was last minute or not. These people call themselves entertainers and artists and you mean to tell me no one could change their performance last minute? It’s not like they had to learn the words to a Michael song, everybody knows at least 5!!! I lost respect for Beyonce who came to the award show and performed what she does on her concerts, but then wanted to give her award to Mike. Neyo, who has stolen all of Michael Jackson moves to help is lame career and yet he forgets to thank Mike? This show was nothing but narcissitic celebrities promoting themselves. NOW IF THEY HAD STATED THAT THEY WERE DEDICATING THE SHOW TO MIKE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO PROBLEMS, BUT DON’T CALL IT A TRIBUTE.

Sweetness(#87) - I doubt Michael’s heart is like that… to just leave everything to Janet. I have no idea if the rest of the Jackson fam is money hungry but I bet his mom isn’t much of a money hungry type. The way I took it, is that Janet is the one in CHARGE of his assets, debts,etc and how things should be distributed.

Wow, that Janet part brought me to tears. So strong in stature but so vulnerable in emotion. She’s going to do right by Michael, his estate, and his kids.

The worst part of the show was the Lil’ Wayne performance…it was a tragedy. And the fact that he had those little girls on stage with him singing along THAT song had me thoroughly disgusted.

So basically Janet controls the estate, and probably found that out when she went to the house to pick up his belongings. Mike was smart, he knew not to put his children
money in the hands of people who were dependent on him . He was the family breadwinner. Now his kids and mama will always bet taken of. Too bad Janet can’t get custody of the kids.

And for the poster who said the way people acted last night at the awards, is a clear indication as to why MJJ wanted to be white. That was funny and I would understand that , if he did. lol.

There was no respect for MJJ last night, and it was an embarrassment. But, MJJ knew that there’s a difference between artistry and celebrity. And he was an ARTIST.

The BET Awards, even as a MJ tribute, further displayed how absolutely worthless and unconstructive it is towards the minds of young black people. As if ghetto=black, that’s what they were tryna convey.

Wait for the MTV VMA’s…..MTV might be wack too but they will most certainly pay tribute to Michael in the best way possible. Thriller DEFINED the MTV generation and so did the rest of his music from Off The Wall.

BET needs to redeem themselves after last night. It would have been much better to choose a select few to sing MJ songs (medley style like t he Ojay’s tribute) at the beginning, with a video/picture tribute in the middle, and then another medley again at the end. Hell I want Debra Lee’s paycheck. Everyone else should have been relegated to just giving out or receiving awards. No silly skits, no crude jokes, and no cursing. I have never figured out why they allow children to attend these shows and then let people act that way in front of them. No respect whatsoever! Please God let Berry Gordy, Quincy Jones, or somebody who was a part of Michael’s career and partially responsible for his success produce a tribute for him. It would be great if one was done on his birthday in August. I say we all go over to BET’s website and let them know how we feel. Even if it wasn’t supposed to be a tribute the show was the worst one yet! I mean little girls on stage while such a disrespectful song is being sung! What a disgrace and embarrassment to the entire human race, not just Black people! God help us!

I feel so bad for Janet, you could tell that she was about to breakdown any second. I could see the pain on her face I just started to cry. I think that was the best part of the show…..

^ They will just delete those emails. The only thing you can do is basically get the blogs and stuff involved with a petition. That way people will know how everyone is feeling about that. Celebrities read these blogs. Don’t ask CL to do it! I doubt they will but you never know.

i cried. i cried really hard during this part of the show only because it just made it all too clear that michael is no longer with us in the physical. a small part of me still doesn’t want to believe that it’s true…..

I think it was a nice show, lets not forget peeps, they only had 3 days to put in new stuff. I think Beyonce did an amazing job and so did Neyo. I luvved the show and for dumbazz that said Mr. Jackson doesn’t care, how in the hell do u know? Did you see him any at all on the day of Michael’s death? hell no, because he was just as distraught as the rest of his family. I cried like hell when Janet made her speech, I am so sadden. I myself can admit I wished I had supported Michael more in life, he was an amazing person. None of his songs degraded women, had foul words, etc and he was very generous with his money. Another pair of wings have been given out by God. May you rest in peace Michael, rest in peace………………..

Unfortunately, I didnt get the chance to watch the BET Awards but just looking at Janet’s face on these pictures, you could feel the pain. It’s such a sad sad time in all of our lives. I prayer for the J family always.

the awards show was disappointing but seeing janet at the end made it all worthwhile. seeing her so emotional and full of her love for her brother–a man we celebrate as an icon, was so stirring. i wept like a baby. i really feel for this family and pray that michael is finally at peace.

I absolutely felt that BET could have done better with the tribute to MJ. Jamie made a few tasteless jokes about Michael “No wonder Michael was always grabbing his crotch, his pants were too tight and he had a camel toe..” but i do respect him coming out with his MJ shirts and whatnot.
I didn’t appreciate anything else besides the Janet speech, the Ne-Yo performance and the guys in the beginning of the video doing the J5medley.

I felt pretty embarrasedfor Janet, however. The BET awards got very tacky and ghetto at times.

I know everyone is talking about the BET awards, but i miss Soul Train Awards and the American Music Awards, those are an award shows!!!! If Soul Train was around, they would’ve killed the MJ Homage big time!!! It was good, but I expected more. I love Janet and I give her praise regardless what happened before, her and her brother is Icons!!!! And coming out in this hard time, I give her the utmost respect as an Icon artist. okay first!! whoever reported about janet and his estate is WRONG!! an EXECUTOR (and its EXECUTRIX) is someone the deceased names in a will….and if janet was to be “in charge” of his estate the the court would appoint her as an ADMINSTRATRIX. The estate would go to the next of kin which is his children….but thats another legal story…..

I dont think the BET awards were as bad as people are saying…i do agree that they couldve done a lil better with the “tribute” but it was a short time frame. and one thing u all have to understand is it wasnt supposed to be a mourning tribute…it was a celebration of his music. and what do u all expect when u have jamie foxx as the host? he is a COMEDIAN so of course it wasnt going to be serious.

I think to those who don’t understand why many are angry, embarassed and disgusted with this “ceremony” is because they had MJ’s name attached to it and they promoted as being in his honor.

For the people that stand by the fact that they had 3 days is fine however when you are in the media and entertainment you have to be quick on your toes and be able to deliver. They did not, plain and simple. They couldn’t ” put their money where their mouth is”.

It has nothing to do with people not showing black love and etc (just the fact that many of us are truly disgusted with the show speaks volume) it is the fact that it had very litttle to do with MJ. He was a phenomenon and they did not portray a show that could match what he is, was and will always be.

Many other shows were taking notes because BET went first. Unfortunately, the bar was not raised high if even at all. The other tributes will make a mockery of BET’s tribute…(At this point anything will)

I will not bring up the bad parts of the show since everyone seems to be fully aware of them.

Just wanted to throw in a little correction here… KATHERINE JACKSON (not Janet) had temporary control of MJ’s estate until today (7/6/09). The judge has now appointed the original executors listed in MJ’s will as the special administrators of the estate, as MJ wanted.

I, too, was disappointed in BET’s tribute to MJ…. definitely could have been better… but Janet’s remarks were so heartfelt…. couldn’t help but feel her pain…

(addition to previous comment)….Just in case you haven’t heard, new controllers of the estate are John Branca & John McClain, the originally named executors in the will. Branca was MJ’s longtime lawyer & friend, and McClain is a music exec. The judge did rule, however, that they must keep Katherine Jackson in the loop about MJ’s assets.

RIP MJ…. I hope you finally do have peace… God knows the world wouldn’t let you have it…
