Alot of black men (and women) feel that dating outside theyre race and alienating themselves from their black counterparts, is what they need in order to be happy. This kind of mentality always stems from self-hate. When you are unable to love yourself, its impossible for you to love someone that mirrors you in someway.
Other races clock this attitude that many black people have and view this has weak. Thats why many non black people talk down to black people, view them as the 2nd class citizen, because we view ourself like that! People treat you according to how you allow them to treat you!

The sad thing is that Human society has become so used to seeing black people as ‘dominant’ by exterior, but ‘subnissive’ by nature, that when black people do decide to stand up for themselves and demand equality. I find it interesting to read all these comments about being in a mixed relationship. I come from a mixed background myself. My mom is Spanish and my dad is black and I can say from personal experience my dad was a strong black man. Just because someone dates outsides there race doesn’t mean that they are weak or less black or that the woman is using them to get what they want out of the black man.
This is 2009, why are we still hung up on race. Why can’t Reggie just be in love with Kim and vice versa for who she is. They have been together for a long time and I’m sure it’s love.
I know there are some African American and other races who date outside of there race because of self-hatred issues but to assume that they all do for the same reason is just foolish.
Me personally I love to see mixed couples because it shows we are moving in the right direction and looking past race and learning that deep down we are all the same no matter what race you are and I’m happy that Reggie and Kim aren’t letting other people perception of there relationship get to them. I’m so glad my parents didn’t let ignorant people discourage the love they had for each other also because without them I wouldn’t have been born and I’m glad I came from a interracial family because we didn’t see color in my household I can bring home a white,black, spanish or any other race home and guess what my parents will accept them just as long as I was being treated right.
