Aubrey “Drake” Graham arrives at the MuchMusic Video Awards on Sunday night in Toronto, Canada. The rapper/actor is a native of Canada and is expected to drop his debut album later on this year.
Some people are starting to say his music is a little bit over-exposed and that he is already falling into the industry hype. I guess time will tell.

I think his buzz will die down by the time the album drops, he is way too overexposed. And he’s touring with Lil Wayne promoting mixtape music. The type of buzz he’s getting right now, the album should be dropping within the next couple of months to get the most sells. Because the level of good music in r&b and hip-hop has been extremely low over the past few years, the standard is much lower now and any lil wayne sound a like gets hyped up. I think Drake is actually a talented guy…even though a lot of his music sounds like other rappers out now (mostly Lil’ Wayne.) I liked his music back in ’07 when he was mostly doing work with Trey Songz and artists like that. I think he was more original back then, but that’s usually the case when no one knows you. haha.
And as far as his looks go, I don’t think he’s a bad looking dude, he used to be worse on Degrassi in the earlier years!

I totally agree with what you said he sounds too much like kanye and lil wayne to me to even get into his music. I don’t understand all the hype around this guy either I mean he is talented but he’s not bringing anything new into the game he’s bringing me another kanye which we already have so what’s the big deal. When he is able to find his OWN formula, he will really last bc you can’t deny that the kid got talent. And I really do not see the point of doing a video for best I ever had when radio already played it out–I don’t know who his management is but they need to give him better direction–like he could have done a video for HoustonAtlantaVegas and that would really bring him into the mainstream because that song is dope and only people who are into his mixtape know it–but at this point best I ever had is played out so, really what is the point of a video…

I’ma have to say that he has definitely put some interest back into hip/hop as a new and upcoming artist, but he is not the answer by far. He sings in auto-tune, though he can carry a note, it’s always the same pitch I wonder what he really sounds like without using it. His flow is not extraordinary, puts me in the mind of Wayne and/or Kanye on some of the songs. It’s nice to have an artist who can switch between both since we haven’t had one male anyways (unless you want to count Mos Def which I don’t really) since the days of Lauryn Hill, and possibly Queen Latifah. I’m anxious to hear what the album will sound like, but I saw some of his live performances on YouTube and they were seriously lacking.
I first heard this dude on this very website a few years back when he was featured on lloyld’s track…I thought he was average at best…I think he had another song that concreteloop posted but i still wasnt impressed..I just remember him as some actor turned rapper…..NOW it seems everybody is screaming his name, without even hearing is music…wow the power of the corporate machine…I wish him much success…!
