Amerie has completed her new album, entitled IN LOVE & WAR, scheduled to hit stores in August.
The singer is close to unveiling the lead video, “Why R U,” from the album. The vid has been shot by popular video-director Ray Kay (The-Dream, Lady Gaga, & MORE) with a June 8th release date on BET.
IN LOVE & WAR album producers include The Buchanans (“Why R U”), Teddy Riley, Sean Garrett & Eric Hudson, Rico Love, Brian Cox and others.
WHITNEY HOUSTON PICKS RELEASE DATE
Accroding to an Arista Records press release, Whitney Houston’s new album will be released worldwide September 1st. This is Whitney’s 7th studio album, since her 1985 debut. Check out her new promo photo above.
MARIAH SPEAKS ABOUT NEW ALBUM
Mariah Carey is reportedly working with everyone from Jermaine Dupri to The-Dream on her brand new album.
Titled “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,” the album is said to be a collection of stories that Mariah says are “for everybody but in a lot of ways are very (related to the) woman empowerment movement”.
Sharing the recording experience with fans, Carey took to twitter over the weekend, stating “Experimenting with my voice in the studio on this new mid temp/ballad..”.
“Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” is due to be released through Island in September.

i liked amerie’s last album, but the new song sounds like it was a leftover from the last cd… she always brings the same… and we knew she was not successful with it two years ago, so why should she be now? she does not have that great voice…
and i think mimi’s last album has been good, it was not that great as emancipation, but it was a cool summer cd, just not a classic as you’re expecting from a mariah carey

Whitney Vs. Mariah: we ain’t even gonna argue this battle. Mariah has a larger fan base: old, young, black white, straight, gay, lesbian, all races. Whitney has been gone so long her fan base has just LEFT, she underwhelmed last year with the AKON assisted single also. While i think in this generation, 1980′s Whitney Houston was the Greatest vocalist i’ve ever heard, she could old notes for EVER (look at Greatest Love of All–live on Arista’s 25th special).
BUT, mariah still sells more records, she’s more marketable and her voice is just crazy, while she may not sing like she use to, even thou on FLY LIKE A BIRD, MINE AGAIN, Thanks for NOTHING (off last cd which is INCREDIBLE) and I Wish You Well, she still has vocals, and crazy vocals.
I think Mariah and Whitney play this game, those CD’s will NOT be out in Septemeber they always push them back.
Whitney performed live at clive davis grammy party and sounded HORRIBLE.. this is very heartbreaking. she still has no voice, she avoided all HIGH NOTES (when did the OLD whitney EVER avoid high notes).
and to all you people who disliked Mariah’s last cd. Listen to “Thanks for Nothing” it’s the best song on the CD, worth listening to and worth enjoying. She sings the HELL out of that song and NO Whistle Notes.

I can’t wait until Whitney’s and Mariah’s albums are released. I love both of them. I simply love Whitney’s voice and her stage presence. She always had confidence when she performed at award shows like, “I know I’m good and I’m going to show you how it’s done.” But, most people with common sense should know that she is not going to sound like she did early in her career–same with Mariah. I think both ladies will do well and I also think that the media is going to make it out to be “battle of the dualing divas” when the albums are released. I am going to support both of my favorite singers. Even on their bad days, they sound better than a lot of the younger female singers out today. Good luck to both!!!

Im hoping the underdog Toni Braxton steals the limelight. She is one who deserves it. Never have I heard any negative press on her despite the many obstacles she’s faced. Toni Braxton comeback please!
