This aint it and this will never be it! I don’t know what it is about this girl but she can not get a hit and I think mostly because her voice isnt that appealing! Please, go into modeling or acting if you want to stay creative but this sound and your singing is a no go – you’ve had four albums to get it right and its worst than when you started!
I love Amerie, and I love the video..the song is okay, but I don’t think this is a hit record. She looks amazing, and she’s giving good energy, but hopefully the next single will be better (i usually wud have given up on her by now) but she’s talented, and if you don’t hit it out the park this time Amerie..it’s time for you to sit ya ass down.

Amerie’s voice is gorgeous, and unique. The only problem is, they can’t seem to give her smash HITS. The video isn’t all that, the song isn’t all that. Amerie has more talent than a lot of very popular artists, I really am mad that they don’t make it a priority to give her the best productions possible. This kind or track suits her vocals perfectly (hiphop/soul), but it’s not good enough for a 1st single.

I think Amerie has what I like to call a ‘NOVELTY VOICE’.
This means when people first hear her, theyre like ‘WOW shes crazy, next big thing blah blah’ (1thing) But has her music career progresses, The novelty wears off, because the voice she has is not durable, Its interesting, but not durable and that is very important for any artist.
Other Artists like this are Lady gaga, M.I.A .. Y’all get the drift. They are people of the moment, not people that will go the distance.
She clearly has no sense of what a hit song sounds like, why even bother recording such a boring song? The chorus is sooo repetititve, its just dull. And her voice falls into the annoying category alongside Ashanti, Ciara and Christina Millian- I can’t bear listening to these girls sing.
She looks great in the video, but I’m sick of “singers” getting a pass because they’re pretty or look pretty onscreen.

I hate that she is coming with this b/c when “Why dont we fall in love” dropped she had me really excited..I just knew we were witnessing something like MJB’s “You remind me”..that song was hot…then dropped “1 thing” and although the album wasnt well recieved it was a good album (who could forget the lovely slow song “Just like me”….
all I can say is she’s on a label where she isnt gonna get the opportunity to shine and thats sad…its kind of like back in the day when Clive Davis had Whitney, Aretha, Phylis Hyman…you cant have all these women on one label…someone is gonna fall to the back…

The song and her voice is terrible…..but she is so stylish and pretty. I dunno, she reminds me of Christina Milian, they can get signed in a heartbeat because they’re so pretty but just lack the HIT songs and albums. Its a shame.
I was thinking she would would have more a story line, because the lyrics really have potential to tell a good story visually, but this was cool. I love the fashion in the video, and this reminds me of another favorite artists of mine video Nikka Costa’s “Like A Father”. It’s simple, yet has an edge to it.

I enjoyed the song and the energy she brings to the vid. Plus of course she looked stunning. I don’t now if it wil have as big of an impact as ‘one thing’ but it’s a lovely choon. She should continue doing songs with instrumentals and i hope she doesnt go down the autotune/vocoder/digital etc route cos that would clash badly with her rusky ( is that a word? ) vocals and I like that.
And I have to say, just because a single or an album doesn’t become an instant commercial success like other mainstream artists doesn’t necessarily and automatically mean it’s inferior.

I was just thinking of this the other night: I fugs with Musiqsoulchild. He’s a good singer – but I was just thinking about how even his songs that I don’t love, I still like. He has always managed to get GOOD BEATS and CATCHY SONGS. So imo, you need to be moderately attractive, with a good voice and a record company that knows how to give you good music.
Unfortuantely, Amerie is battling 1 out of 3. Good lookin’ girl, but her voice is right “up” there with Ms. Keri, which means it’s not wassup.
