Correct you dont have to be high or possessed to write lyrics. I used to write poetry and song so I know. However a lot of these artist have admitted that they dont write their music, and that it was channeled. Example Michael Jackson one of the greatest artists of all time said himself in a rare interview on youtube that he can’t take credit for writing his music, and that he feels like he didn’t write his songs. They were already written somewhere out in space and he was the source and tunnel through which they flow.
