Singer Mariah Carey appears on set during the filming for her new music video ‘Obsessed’ from her forthcoming album, Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel at The Plaza Hotel on Monday, June 29th in New York City.
The new track was penned by The Dream and the new album is slated to hit stores August 25th.

As for the song, it makes for a funny teaser track, but honestly (and I’m probably in the minority on this one) if the Dream is responsible for some of the writing, I would not be surprised because lyrically, this song doesn’t quite cut it for me. The Dream writes some catchy stuff sometimes, but in general it sounds to me like he has a poor understanding of meter and a limited vocabulary. I am not expecting Pulitzer-prize winning poetry, but come on, can I sing one of your songs aloud without feeling stupid?

One of mariah’s greatest talents is that she actually is a great songwriter, although her lyrics have deterorated over the years, it is because she wants to fit in with radio music and so she dumbed down her lyrics. She is most definately one of the greatest singers and songwriters to have walked the earth but its sad that she has to dumb herself down in order to supposedly sell records.
Eventhough I understand that she was too busy to perform at the BET awards, out of respect for MJ she should have dropped the video and done her tribute, that would have been the best thng to do.
