It’s odd to me how these younger artists keep turning to vintage michael for inspiration when they know nothing of the relevance of the album to that era becuase they weren’t even around then, I don’t know if these artists think emulating him will bring them the same success or what it is. It’s like when in doubt, do Michael Jackson. But they were just being born when thriller was out, you know nothing about Michael jackson as he was. That reminds me of that Dave chapelle joke. “that’s like me saying, Mama before I die put me in a room with Chubby Checker”. And if you are so inspired by Michael Jackson, then wouldn’t all these cats at least be making better music.

For the record I didn’t say she wasn’t going to be succesful, I think if she actually wants to be successful, she needs to be seperating her self from the pack. She needs to ask her self what am I doing that Beyonce, Ciara, Rihanna, Amerie, aren’t doing. You can’t even use the excuse “oh well I can sing” as a defense of doing similar music because if you using tracks that are nearly identical to them, singing in mono-tone auto tune studio vocals, then you mind as well not be singing. You can’t be complacent becuase you just want to be put on and think that’s enough to have a succesful career.
I wish her the best but as a consumer, I just feel like if your not in it to change the game, like Michael, then you need to fall back, only the strongest survive, Ciara is learning this now, we’re getitng to the poitn where we’re seeing who was hot for right now, and who is in it to win it.

Yeah, as someone else said, they all wanna be like MJ. I’m SO sick of everyone copying “Thriller,” or something like it. Originality is dead. And someone else mentioned that when an artist has no ideas left for their career, they emulate MJ’s “Thriller” as if that is all he did. Because they don’t know his whole history or something. I for one was not born until the late 80s, but I know that MJ has done much more greater work besides “Thriller.” “Thriller” actually isn’t in my favorite top 10 songs that he did. I just wish he could get recognized more his other material that he did besides the zombie song. But over all that, I wish people would stop jackin’ his style.

@25 – None of those artist you named are “changing the game”. It’s been a long time since an artists has came out and changed the game. From fashion to music; it’s all a throwback of what’s already been done.
Her album is never coming out because she isn’t and won’t ever be a star. She will be appearing in the straight to DVD street films next month. And then a reality show on VH1, but she won’t be the central character, just another person vying for the love of Bobby Brown or Carrot Top
