♫ NEW MUSIC: RICHGIRL & CHRIS BROWN - “SMILE & WAVE“
Monday, July 13, 2009

♫ RichGirl feat. Chris Brown - Smile & Wave
♫ ALTERNATE LINK ♫
Check out the latest sounds from Rich Harrison’s group, RichGirl, in the form of their new track, “Smile & Wave,” which features none other than R&B crooner, Chris Brown. The collaboration most likely came about because the two share the same label and manager.
Admittedly, I wasn’t a fan of their first single, “He Ain’t With Me Now (Tho),” even though it does do a better job of showing off the girls’ vocal range, however, I think “Smile & Wave” is a little more suited for a radio single. But will this help or hurt the girls due to Chris’s career slump?

i really like this group, the song is meh….they should stick to the “24 inches” formula. yeah if they pick the right songs for the group then i can see them blowing up, but as for this song it sounds like a Tiffany Evans song. I would like to see them make muisc like a 90’s slow jam or somethin’! like Second Nature by Destiny’s Child, or like Get it Together by 702!

i am really feeling this song! and theres only one chris brown and he fit into this track like a puzzle piece so THATS why they didnt go with some one else and im happy they didn’t! and the only way that this will hurt their career is if ignorant people like the ones saying that they don’t like an entire group now bcuz they collaborated with a certain person continue to carry on with the nonsense! i am so over that cb situation and u need to get over it too! let him and rihanna get over it like their trying too and stop continuing to hold it over his head! don’t act like you’ve never done anything that you wish you hadn’t-only difference between you and cb is that your not a celeb and your mess wasn’t broadcasted for all to see and judge…and i bet u don’t get reminded of ur skeletons on a daily basis! stop throwing stones in glass houses! its honestly not any of our place to speak on or about something we dont truly know about, nor is it to judge some one we truly don’t know! just live laugh and love good music! cb puts out good music and i hope people let him come back from that situation…i believe he can!

i wish you tired women would stfu about cb alledgedly beating rihanna’s ass. yall wasnt saying shit when she was sleeping around jumping from man to man. her fan base is still strong even though shes a whore. how is what she did any better than what he did? in other words theyre both not perfect so stfu. the song is HOT.

actually, I am tired of hearing about the Chris Brown mess…he was wrong, Rhianna was not the cause he should not have done it, but they both know the real truth of what went on with them. He was wrong…just like a convicted felon who gets out and looks for a second chance or anyone who is blogging that has hit his or her mate; He got his sentence and Rhianna did not have a problem with it. That’s his personal life and it does reflect on him as a person but those are his demons to fight. I listen to his music, I support him as a person trying to move on from his mistakes (cause we all have made some) and let him deal with the personal mess. I like Rich Girl and to be honest, there are other artists who could have been on the song; but we don’t know what other artists are doing in their personal lives. The media just has not found out about it. So don’t assume everyone else is without fault of their own.
The Ike Turner comparison? For real? Come on!!!!! There’s noone close to be like Ike Turner….

I gotta comment on all you people saying ” young girls this and young girls that” for listening to his music. First of all….you people saying how dumb it is to still support his music because he didn’t give an apology are you smokin?? Why does he owe us an apology. He did not talk about beating a woman on a record. We have only to do with his music. NOT his PERSONAL LIFE. Word is he apologized to Rihanna, whom accepted it. So why on earth would we need one when we weren’t the ones beat on. Get it together seriously. I’m sick of all the CB bashing it is OLD. It’s getting way out of hand.

Oh and different women bring out different reactions in the same man. Someone mentioned the “No Air” song…if you remember Ri hung out at the set while they did the video…concerned she was. Just because she’s pretty does not mean she does not have her own demons to handla as well. She did admit to hitting her brother in the face with a GLASS bottle; might be why she had no problem with the plea…she may have her own drama she did not want out. Not saying he was right, but if she had a temper it escalated to far….Ri is not this passive, meek woman…she has a mean streak too

I cannot implicitly condone CB’s behavior by supporting his music/projects. The song is OK, but this is a bad move on Rich Girl’s part, they should have recorded (or re-recorded the song) with another male artist.

CL lessening of posts is really good for artists!!!…they need all the promotion they can get…even though, the constant posting is missed…we say black music is dead…no it isn’t…we’re just not buying it…because even when we like it…too many of us bootleg it…so artists are dependent on a general buying market…they must have a mass appeal…obviously, music marketing execs believe our female artists have to be practically nude or skanked out for us not to call it boring…it’s our fault the music is last to visual images drenched in sex…as if we can’t listen and enjoy a song without someone giving us a sexual thrill or an image of what we wish we looked like…sad…because we give the green light as consumers to what we like or not…if we turned off the radio and constantly complained about not hearing more diversity, more Ledisi, Lalah, Lina, Conya Doss, Maysa, Hil St. Soul, Goapele, Estelle, Rachelle Ferrell, Julie Dexter, Jazzyfatnastees, Leela James, Jaguar Wright, Joi, Trina Brossard, Deborah Cox, Chante Moore and Kenny Latimoore, Amel Larrieux, Yazarah, Angie Stone, Jill Scott, India Arie, Erykah Badu, Vivian Green and so many other very talented underground artists…if they do get some play like Erykah and Jill, they still don’t get the promotion and enough videos to sell even more cds and gain a wider audience…they do well because they will be touring even if they don’t make another new record…a few years back the “Sugar Water Festival” was really incredible, real artists can entertain without a video or new music because of the craft they put into their work…it’s timeless…Janet, Mary J. Blige, Mariah, Monica, Fantasia, Keyshia Cole, Tamia, Keri, Ciara, Rihanna, Beyonce, Alicia Keys are talented and doing their thing, but only a few are allowed heavy rotation on radio stations and heavy promotion…then we get tire of them and stop buying because it’s the same people time and time again…and the music video has become more important than the music…we only get a glimpse of other artists and then they fade back into obscurity…well, in this country at least…overseas they can get their groceries…theybetter respect artists and know the meaning of being a “fan.” Then we cut up and wait for artists to fail as stans, not realizing this hurts all artists, they have to work just that much harder. To have two or three artists representing black music is almost criminal…when we see Taylor Swift, Mylie, Pink, Katy Perry, Lily Allen, Amy, Adel, Britney, Madonna, Faith Hill, Natasha, Sugarland, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow, Fergie, Kellie Pickler, Nelly Furtado, Shania Twain, Gwen Stefani, Shakira…so many, many more…other people don’t throw their artists away…Britney Spears’ fanbase stuck by her at her very worst…naw, we pray people lose, flop, fail, like they’re gonna have to take a job working across from you…we build shrines to one or two artists and hope anyone else fails…we’re the only group of people who hate the way we do…then when our artists are forced to put out pop songs and minimize their R&B roots, we feel slighted…they have to sell records…we steal more than we buy…we only pledge our support to our idols/gods…they had better sex us up real good too or we think it’s boring or just ok, but not overwhelmed…so our young girls think being sexy is the be all and end all in a climate where women are just as abused if not more than 50 years ago…we have to give the ghetto edge or it doesn’t get street cred…people say how they miss the “hood” Keyshia…she got vocal lessons and sound better, her teeth fixed and a stylist and people complain…we are a hot mess…not all of us…because like Erykah Badu said at one of her concerts…”only about 5% of the people really know what’s going on and looking at some of these boards…it sure seems true.
Demand more from the record labels, radio stations, magazines and artists…diversity, original and quality music…let’s protest…a guy spoke about how he interviewed michael jackson and he said that the harmony and melody has to come back to the music and people will knock the doors down to buy it…why I like this song…it has harmony and melody…not just some hook lyrics over hot beats and samples…

Didn’t realize chris brown was in a “personal” career slump..I like him, and I’m a female-what is he slumping from, he doesn’t have a new album or movie, and if he did wouldn’t he be in the same recession slump as the rest. And what wonderful world are these grudge holders from, where a “ONE TIME” couple fight is so outrageous that you dedicate your personal life to making dumb ike turner jokes, and acting like the fight “YOU DIDN’T SEE” was the most horrific of the human age. And Nobody was this childish this long towards IKE, he kept fans, Bobby Brown’s not picked at, and Charlie Sheen is not a good man, but he’s the highest paid tv star-So many whack man in hollywood and yet Chris Brown is awarded “monster # 1″- for a dumb jealousy fight “you didn’t see and comments you didn’t hear” I like the song, richgirl, chris and rihanna-hope they all have a concert TOGETHER

@teddy, i still say you are an idiot.. did you do a worldwide survey on chris fans to make that conclusion??? if so, please give me the results otherwise shut the hell up with you ill informed statements…
infact you and the ten anti chris stuns in here aint gonna change a damn thing when it comes to his career.. the majority have spoken and are either willing to forgive chris and move on or are like me and could give a ratz ass about him beating rihanna…that aint my business and could give too shtiz about it.. if he sings something i like, i will buy it and bop to it and so will many!!!

I don’t like Chris Brown, but he is talented. Don’t care for Richgirls but they can sing… They have to come stronger then that. Chris Brown would is the last Artist I would have selected to do a song with right now…. because too much is going on with him (he’s under a microscope). MAXWELL or JAMIE FOX anybody but Chris Brown. Teena Davis Management bad move on this one… Sorry… His PR person and attorneys advised him wrong. They should have told Chris Brown to address the public and let them know that he made a mistake and I will do everything in power to correct this. His fans and females would have more respect for him. We are all human and we do make mistakes, but you have to acknowledge your wrong doing first. He just waited to late to apologize. Richgirls GOOD LUCK! YOUR CAREERS ARE TANKING FAST.

Its about time that everyone justs moves on and gets over the Chris Brown situation.
Im not saying her is right for waht he has done, but letts move on .Im sure he has relized what he had done was wrong and has defintly leraned all this crazyness. And bessides RIRI should not be look at asgeeting of the hook she had a lot to do with this, she has a mean and nasty streak in her too. Im sure she had a hugh fighting act in there too, but because she a women shes off the hook. pluse these two are children there so young, how many girls have put there hands on there boyfriends or vice /versa. There babies going though these childish games of teenage relationships and cant beileve that are world has put so much time and energy wasted in this childish act. LETT IT GO and lett these younger artist go through there lives , besided there somany othere thing happing in our world today that we should be putting are focus in.
And i love the fact the Richgirl used Chris B. on the song . I really do feel the song its sweet, different, catchy, and fun. If you keep listing to you it will grow on you. ‘
Girls are tired of boys and men trying to get in there pants,
so, i like this song and support it a 100%.
Also Richgirl is using other ways of tryign not to the same old girl music group.
i like that about them .
Go ahead Richgirl and Chris B.

Consumers do have the right to decide who to buy. But I agree at the same time that if you’re going to judge all your artists on their personal lives you would not be able to listen to a thing. The first to ho would be the late James Brown. I love his music, but if anyone could put a whooping a woman….

I aint saying wat chris did was good nay wrong is wrong n he’s paying for it 4God’s sake when r u pple gonna let it go ad give him a chance. Take this there is sumfing going on in london about a guy being stabbed by his so-called girl friend’s other (white)boyfriend. The girl actually planned everything and told her(white) bf that the black dude is hustling her (a lie) so she took the black dude sumwhere to get stabbed by her(white) b,f so see girls do bad thingz as well its so upsetting to see a black guy being trapped by a white whore n being killed. i aint a chris fan but pls give him another chance to get his career back on track itz his breadwinner. The song is mediocre imo. Could care less that Chris is on it. But I don’t understand why people, women in particular, would feel uncomfortable or uneasy hearing Chris Brown say how he is going to swoon a woman of her feet. Because you know, that’s how Ike treated Tina for a while before he starting using her face and body as a punching bag and personal love slave. Just saying….If your not female you and haven’t experienced being treated that way you’r opinions really don’t matter.
