Michelle Williams, currently playing Roxy in Chicago on the West End Stage, performs at G-A-Y over the weekend in London, England.
Michelle will be playing Roxie Hart at the Cambridge Theatre in London during a limited six-week engagement running through August 23.

I’m a gay white man and I had to comment on this post. Trust me, it would be so much easier to be straight and I’ve tried. The truth is, I can’t change the fact that I’m gay any more than an african american can’t change the fact that they’re black. It’s not a spiritual sickness and it sure as Hell isn’t a choice. It’s not an affliction that can be cured by prayer because God made me this way. It saddens me to see the amount of ignorance and intolerance in these comments. I mean absolutely no offense by this but I can’t for the life of me understand how anyone, let alone some one from a culture who knows how it feels to be treated unfairly and hated for being something they have no control over can judge another and say that who they are is wrong. I pray that God will open their eyes and show them the error of their ways.

Michelle, you are a beautiful human being who has given a lot to music. Keep working hard, stay focused and ignore those who say unconstructive and negative things about you and to you. These blog sites give a lot of folks courage. But we must realize negative words hurts, deeply. If u cant say anything nice then whistle dixie or something. Keep doing what you do, Michelle!!
I love Michelle, but she definitely looks too thin…I can imagine her schedule and probably lose weight very easily…but, it’s starting to look like an eating disorder, unhealthy, under weight…

the wages of sin …period is death. not specific sins..not this sin over this sin…degrees of sin is what islam teaches…so i guess i should clarify…The God of the Bible not the Qur’an, sees sin as all equal…because all of it no matter what it is separates you from Him.
And funny you point out Lying..especially when in proverbs it’s listed as an abomination….lying is the same as murder…maybe not to a human but in the fact that BOTH separate you from God in relationship..they are the same.
Also see Matthew 5 when Jesus says hatred for someone is the same as murder…again it’s all sin…and the wages of ALL sin…is death, point blank period. Two further points: telling someone else how to be a christian isn’t a christian thing to do, it’s an American thing to do. And, she looks all busted like that cuz it’s her costume from her Staring role as the first Black American Woman to play that role on the London stage. She didn’t win it cus she’s famous (she after all is still Michelle Williams), she won it cuz she is apparently a good actress.
1) The wig and the outfit are essential for the role. I saw Chicago on Broadway and the lead wore the same cut wig and a similar outfit so please let’s remember this is a job with a uniform just like YOUR job and your Yellow and Red McDonalds uniform with the hair net so please—i prefer hers.
2) I believe God is one of love yet the God sometimes displayed in the bible is one of vengeance and hate. Why? Because the Bible was written by MAN and men, by nature of being human, insert their own prejudices and misguided interpretations that are a product of their time. HENCE, to use the Bible, word for word, as a yardstick for our present day societal norms, regulations, etc is ineffective and dangerous. Love, Respect, Caring, Empathy— THESE should be our yardsticks! Because these are the only true, pure manifestations of God.
May I also remind you that the bible was (actually still is by some) use to justify the subjugation of the black race? Blacks were considered the tainted race and countless horrible atrocities performed by “devout Christians” were justified through the bible.
Anywho. In conclusion I’m proud of Michelle for branching out and I wish her all the luck int he world with her new gig. Chicago is one of my favorite musicals!
Justice and Equality for ALL. At the end of the day homosexuality hurts no one so maybe instead of directing our hateful energy towards spewing lousy rhetoric against homosexuals we could concentrate on improving the financial power of our black communities, improving the foundation of our black homes, and increasing the circualation of love amongst ALL God’s children;) Can we try that?
