It’s actress/singer Taral Hicks. Taral is probably best known for her roles in the ’93 movie ‘A Bronx Tale’ and of course the Hype Williams cult film ‘Belly’ opposite of DMX.
She was recently cast in the lead role in the upcoming psychological thriller “DISCIPLE” and is in the studio putting the final touches on her sophomore album. Some of you might remember her remake of the Deniece Williams song “Silly” (view the video here)

wow she is still pretty my hubby crushed her real hard(he loves dark skin women thank god lol) and yes thats exactly what it is the industry or some haters and tryn to make the rea black woman extinct! i was just telln my hubby how back n the day most of the popn singers were mostly darker complexion like brandy monica whitney total even go as far back as angela winbush anita baker and gladys knight all dark skin women then beyonce with DC came on the scene and even tho Kelly was pretty they push B to the 4front and walah every chick just abt in the industry fall under the same formula light skin, long hair(weave) slender european shaped nose, every1 looks the same and its really a shame because it makes the darker women especially young girls feel like they are not beautiful i have a daughter taral complexion and i have to tell her constantly she is beautiful because if its left up to the media and society she would think she is ugly and that breaks my heart!

Wow, reading some of these comments is making me feel really old! There are a lot of people too young to remember Belly! OMG! I always thought she was a beautiful dark skinned sister. She was the bomb in Bronx Tale. Her voice was crazy (She had a commercial on BET back in the day where she broke off this gospel joint too… yeah, I’m that old). She looks great still and I can see her coming out and dominating this time… Nobody really sings anymore, they all croon. I’d like to hear her and a re emergence of soul. She didn’t get much love with competition like Lauryn and Mary J and Faith and Co Co and Erykah, and Tamia, Kelly Price and all of those heavy hitter singer singers back then but now that the landscape for talent is so thin…. she could definitely get a shot.

i was like 9 when belly came out i remember my parents watchin da movie and i couldn’t watch it wit them i was mad but then i snuck and watched anyway i had 2 had watched that movie over 25 times since then. i loved her in belly but especially in bronx tale. seein her be in movies and being dark skin made me feel like i could do that 2 she was always so pretty she made me see you can be pretty and dark skinned light skin ain’t everything
I would’ve never guessed this was Taral Hicks. Wow I haven’t seen her in a long time. I think the last thing I saw her in was Jaheim’s “Put That Woman First” video. She’s still gorgeous and has beautiful smooth skin. I also remember the “Silly” song & video, she did a good job on the remake. It’s good to see her back on the scene. I always thought she was very good at both acting and singing. I wonder why she never became more successful.
