I’ve been getting a lot of emails about Ne-Yo’s concert in Manchester on Thursday night. According to eye witnesses at the concert, the R&B singer/songwriter was crying after struggling to sing on stage for more than half an hour. He told fans he had never not completed a show before but couldn’t continue with his performance.
CL reader, Emma from Manchester sent in the above video and blogged about the occurrence:
I took my ickle man to see Neyo in Manchester tonight and everything was going brilliantly until Neyo walked on stage half way through his gig crying and said he had never not finished a performance before….then promptly left ;o( The promoter announced that the concert will be rescheduled for all ticket holders and that Neyo will be back when they can fit it in and he is better…so there you go..he lost his voice..think there is more to it though. BBC Manchester presenter Karen Gabay was at the concert and said Ne-Yo looked like he had a “really bad fever”.
“Even after the second song, for a man who is normally so cool, he was sweating. He was doing a Michael Jackson tribute and you could see that he was actually struggling to finish every musical phrase. He kept asking the audience to bear with him. Then he actually was crying. I thought it was because he had done a couple of Michael Jackson tributes and he was getting a little bit overcome, but it did seem a bit strange. He was very emotional.” [source]
Looking at the video, something looks like it was tormenting him. We sincerely hope everything is alright with Ne-Yo!
It seems like something personal is bothering him. Maybe a broken heart, death in his immediate family, or health issues. Whatever it is I hope he feels better soon, maybe he should take some time off to take care of himself.

I was at the concert and it was verry over whelming. I felt so sorry for him when he came back on stage in tears. He explained that he wasn’t verry well and left the stage after saying “Trust Me When I Say I Will Be Back. Love Y’all” I was actually devastated when people started to boo him. If he is ill then he is ill. He’s only human he can’t help it. There’s a lot of rhumours going around about it though. He did perform some songs and its no where near as bad as people are making out.
Shocked that people bood him though, and they call themselves Fans? Fakers x

Apparently he was sick -but he still wanted to go ahead with it.
If peope don’nt know – he is doing Sell out stadiums – the ones chrisbronw came to in January.Cant remeber the excact amoutn- but his been to Birmingham,London,Manchester,Liverpool and scotland. The Mj thing -yeah it is a shock -i still hear is songs & feel somber. I’m not black but he never created seperation. That why he he was different to other black artists. Think alot people did not expect to be so emotional and affected by the death of a star because many of us never met him and still feel this way. Imagine actually meeting him and working with him on top of those feelings. He was just always there one year or another in our eyes and ears for all or most of our lives and you cant just shake that. It can be very crushing for some. It is still emotional to think of Michael Jackson being dead, especially when you see the clips of him rehearsing for the tour. Its like he was looking forward to it and looking to the future, not knowing he would be dead a day later and the stage he was performing on would be the stage for his memorial. Just sad. Still cant watch the tapes I made of the memorial. The clips were emotional enough. May not ever be able to watch it.
Sad he could not overcome the addiction, because it appears he had nothing else that would take his life. He never was able to just really be free.

Its way too soon after MJ death to be singing tribute songs in your concert performances NE-YO. This is a very emotional time for Michael Jackson fans. Maybe its just starting to hit NE-YO (the sudden death of MJ). When you sit and think about it, its really hard to believe the man is no longer on this earth anymore.
Or it can be that the TOUR is just wearing on NE-YO. He is probably overwhelmed, & over fatigued. CONCERT TOURS are VERY STRENUOUS & DRAINING. Hope he feels better what ever it is, that upset him emotionally.

This has nothing to do with Michael Jackson. I saw Ne-Yo a the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans about a week and a half ago, and he did not break down and cry, and Michael’s death was more fresh then (recent). It could be a personal issue. Artists are people too.
