Check out up and coming pop singer Priscilla Renea’s first official single, “Dollhouse” off her her debut album above. The singer/guitar player just finished shooting the video for the song out in L.A. last week and some of you may remember the Artist Spotlight we posted earlier this month.
Priscilla has come a long way from just performing songs on her youtube page, her debut album “Jukebox” will be in stores this October.

I like that she does not do the typical music that people would think a black girl should be doing. It’s kinda fresh and dope to see a young black girl playing a guitar and singing heavily pop/rock influenced tracks. She kinda like a black Lily Allen. I don’t think race should ever determine the kinda music you should be doing, she signed a dope deal that would let her express herself on her debut album the way she wants to, you don’t get to do that very often on a first record.

This chik can REALLY sing. I love her voice. And she’s so cute. Girl can sing live and plays too…nice. I think she’ll do welll. Love her rendition of Drake’s Baby You The Best. Good vocal range. And she’s young so she got plenty of time to get even better. How many girls out right now can sing that well live???? Actually how many song as good on the radio as she sounds live?! I’ll be watchin out for her!!!

i remember when i found out about her in the beginning of 2007 when she was singing Fantasia’s “When I See You”, she messed up and STILL made the song sound BANGING!!! lol im glad for homegirl 4real because her voice is SO pure and not so f*cking generic like the rest of these singers today….i hope she stays true to herself, her music, and what she likes while rising to the top and not what the people around her like…good for her though!! I always knew she would make it just like my other homegirl Esmee Denters…but i dont really dig this song like i liked the first one but ima still support he regardless because she deserves it more then anyone right now!!!
Umm… If anything this sounds a little like a Katy Perry tune. Which, in my humble opinion, is not such a bad thing. Secondly, anyone who knows the voice obviously knows that Priscilla is a talented singer. I truly hate when people try to box someone in. She’s a pop artist and this is a pop song; and, if I might add, a darn good one. Commend the chic for writing such a great song. As well, for those who where wondering where the guitar is, this song was probably wrote on her guitar and just b/c it started there, does not mean thats where it had to end. I love it and I’m routing for her.

I hate it; it’s just so damn generic. Like seriously, I’m disappointed. The lyrics weren’t all that because the spanish chick who did “Plastico” did this years ago (and better btw) so I’m not impressed. I appreciate the lyrics not being completely devoid of substance tho. Anywho, I agree she has talent but if this is what she plans to do w/ it…. make generic half-ass songs… I’m not supporting it. I had high standards for her and hopefully she doesn’t let me down BUT THIS… this def. did. Hell, I didn’t even realize it was the same person and did a double take checking the name.

I liked the original better, Yes, I am aware that the song started on her guitar and doesn’t have to end there, but I also know that the song I just heard is not something I would put in rotation. She has a softer, feminine girly voice and I think they watered her down too much on this track. If they kept her voice as is or had her play to the higher octaves that her voice naturally takes, the song wouldn’t suck so much. I will support this girl regardless so I guess that is all that matters, but I hope that the next single is truer to her original form and not this Pop industry generic bs.

Its clear what they are trying to do with her. They are making her first single a Katy Perry kinda thing (this sounds just like that song Hot N Cold) which Im not mad at, bc thats what radio eats up nowadays. She has to get support from somewhere. Am I mad that they changed up her sound with songs like Cry and Fell In Love With You? Yes, but its still her writing and her voice, its just the production is more pop. Im sure some of the album will give me the India.Arie vibe that I’ve always gotten from her. I hope so anyway. All Im sayin is if you support her, there will be a better chance that we get the real Priscilla back, bc she’ll have ore control over that aspect too. But right now Im just happy she’s really doing it, which is more than what we can say for Dondria aka phatfffat with Jermaine Dupri.
