Beyonce can sing, dance and perform her ass off but there are plenty roles that I believe she has gotten because ppl know people will go to see her featured in movies because of how big she is in music! And so what if she is she has trained herself in acting for years and has a right to be upset when somebody who is not trained comes and decides to take one of the few good roles from African american actresses.

Let me ask you a few things. How many roles are there in Hollywood for black actresses? Why doesn’t Nia Long get those roles? Why would a Beyonce get those roles? Name a powerful role given to a black woman in a racially diverse or ensemble cast that was recognized with an Academy award, or nomination for that matter? Why are black women constantly being typed as mammies, whores, and maids? How do women get roles in Hollywood? Answer those questions to yourself and then re-read what I wrote. The point is if you were born with a gift to act, then become an actor. If you were born with a gift to paint, then become a painter. If you were born with a gift to sing, sing your ass off and become a singer. If you were born with a gift to put words together and make it mean something, become a poet or a writer. Some people have a million gifts: Producer/Singer, Singer/Songwriter, Rapper/SUPERproducer( That’s for Kanye). There are certain things that you can’t do. Just stay with what you are good at. I agree with Nia. Beyonce can’t act at all, she is the same in all the roles she portrays. She doesn’t know how to assimilate herself and really put herself in her roles. She should study more about they types of people she is portraying to get a better sense of how they act. That is what Jamie Foxx did for his role in “The Soloist” he spent time around people who suffer from schizophrenia. Too bad that movie didn’t do better though.

Not only did Nia latently call out Bey but oscar winner J-Hud as well. She’s been in the game far too long to have half-assed actresses, like the aforementioned, steal her thunder. What gives? Nia actually has craft. I agree that Hollyweird’s #1 priority is for its films to generate $ but what is at stake is…quality actors with quality roles. As much as I love Bey she just doesn’t and won’t ever fit that mold.

I am dying to know the answer b/c your comments do tend to demean every object you speak on and this is a ‘black celebrity’ blog…just wondering why you dogded the question. As far as Nia, she is a very talented actress, Love Jones was the isht and the amount of movies or projects she has worked on does not equate her acting strengths, it actually proves her point. When we have more black directors and producers like Mr. Perry, I believe America and over seas will see the talent behind our brown faces…everything is not about Beyonce…let’s not speculate, they asked a question and she diverted.

i agree with what she puts forward. I know Eminem is trying to come across as a singer on his few videos that are released from his new album. When we know he can’t hold a note.People should stick to what they know.Eminem is a rapper- not a singer. If your singer a- god gave you that talent - you can’t decide & wake up ”oh im a singer” its not like that.

Same with Mario when he was trying to get into the industry his passion was music- its obv that it still is. But i saw interview a while ago - the host questioned him on which industry he preferrred better- music or acting - he said acting was his first love.

Fair enough you want to try other avenues - but here is no needs to neglect the craving that you wanted in the 1st place.
