Sony Music Worldwide Chief Creative Officer Clive Davis, Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys attend Whitney Houston “I Look To You” album listening party at the Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center on Tuesday night in New York City.
The new album will hit stores September 1st via Arista Record and is set to have collaborations with Dianne Warren, who penned the first single, “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength,” as well as appearances from R. Kelly, Swizz Beatz, Akon and more.

Actually C BREEZY, that comment really wasn’t directed to you; therefore, I require NO correction from you. You are not the only person who has made comments on recent Whitney posts regarding her questionable choices in men.

Here’s the deal, WHITNEY HOUSTON WILL NEVER SOUND THE WAY SHE USED TO. What singer sounds exactly as she did 20 years ago? Aretha? Mariah? Patti? Anita Baker? Stephanie Mills? The voice, especially natural untrained voices, don’t last with pitch and placement. Perhaps one of the only, Gladys Knight, but she always sang in a lower register. Having said that, WHITNEY will be fine. She won’t sustain (hold) notes the same way or at the top of her voice–she’ll probably run from some notes, talk through some parts, but the point is SHE IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE a brilliant singer/stylist. If she was starting out NOW with this voice she’d still sing Ciara, Janet, Kerri hilson, Alica Keys, and most likely Beyonce’ under the table. If not only for her sense of being able to deliever a story through song. SHE IS THE REAL DEAL. WILL ALWAYS BE. Even with an aging and damaged instrument. I’m pulling for you WHIT!
Everyone is so harsh on her single, but you have to realize that it was supposed to be a stripped down song exposing herself. Like other people have put on here, if you listen to any of the other songs that are going to be on her album you’ll realize that although her voice may not be 100% where it was, it is still a force to be reckoned with among many other artists in terms of vocals. There is no need for hate, this woman has been through enough, we should be supporting her. I know i’ll be buying that album for sure.

Whitney Whitney! I’m so excited. I think “I didn’t know my own strength” sounds great, and i heard the unfinished version. I know once I hear the finished version I’m going to LOVE it. The lyrics are so inspirational. You go, Whitney! You fell down but you picked yourself up, with the help of God. I’m so proud of you. And its funny how people are saying that the legendary WH’s voice sounds horrible, but they are probably the same ones who worship some of those no-talented artists we have today whose voices have to be computer enhanced. shame. Whitney is coming back to show all them what real singing is. I do not expect Whit’s voice to sound like it did on “Where do broken hearts go” but this woman is so talented, I think the album will still blow me away.
As for Alicia Keys’ haters, child bye. How can you deny that the woman is beautiful? She is naturally. Also, people are so quick to pass judgment and jump to conclusions, its sickening. You really don’t know what truly went down. Unless you have spoken to Alicia personally, or she has released a public statement on the rumor, you have nothing to say, unless you’ve heard from all involved. I love the photo of Alicia and Whitney. Two of my favorite talents!

I hope Whitney remains off drugs and have a successful life ahead. Hope her album sells as well. Its always a challenge to overcome an addiction and is a day to day struggle to stay clean.

I love Alicia’s sweater and jacket. I would rock it when it gets cold here. And I love Whitney’s shoes. I will definitely be getting her new CD. Say what you want about her but she still sings better than 99% of the artists out today.
Go Whitney! I’m so happy her album is finally coming. I hope this album will be good. I’m not expecting her to sound exactly the same, I just want a well produced album. She looks so beautiful and happy in these pics. No matter what her naysayers say, she is a legend and at least she has overcome the obstacles in her life and is trying to do better.

BTW, she looks amazing, Her speaking voice is SOOO much better and back to the way she use to articulate. i’m feeling a Nancy Wilson vibe there. Everything around her just screams DIVA. She is addressed the way that Patti and Diana are addressed: Miss Whitney or Miss HOuston- that my child is called earned RESPECt.
Ya’ll sleep on whitney, she wants this and they have taken time to pick great songs. I can’t wait to get her album and support her. I thank God that she is making or has made efforts to turn her life around.
p.s Her singing voice will continue to improve. I don’t doubt that. She may never have that elasticity back but she will regain sustained falsettos. The one thing that she has unmistakable kept is her chest voice which is pure power and can zapp out many of todays singers on the radio.

She’s looking great and healthy. I’ve heard her music but it’s not not my type of sound. However, who knows, maybe I’ll like what she puts out. I wish her success with her work if it’s good and I wish her to stay healthy.
If Whitney’s album flops, I will never stop laughing..as much money and hype as Clive has put into Whitney & her “comeback album”, it would be an embaressment to him and his reputation. Personally, I think she needs to give it up. She had her moment..it’s gone..
