REMEMBERING MICHAEL JACKSON: THE JACKSON FAMILY AT THE MEMORIAL SERVICE

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

The Jackson Family stands on stage at the closing of the Michael Jackson public memorial service held at Staples Center on Tuesday, July 7th in Los Angeles, California. Jackson, the iconic pop star, died at the age of 50 less than two weeks ago.

At the end of the service, Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris Jackson said this:

“Ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine,” the 11-year-old said. “And I just wanted to say I love him so much.”

Very heartfelt memorial! I was surprised the occasion was as “Christian” as it was given the family history. Prayerfully, I hope they come around to know that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the LIFE!

This was the single most moving tribute I have ever witnessed…..when Paris says “Ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father u can ever imagine and I wanna say I love him so much”,…My God that will stay with me forever….all the nay sayers, haters and what have u can take the express route to hell….we have seen Micheal was a great father, son, brother, friend and the greatest entertainer to EVER live.. anyone who was not touched by this seriously needs to check if they have blood runing through their veins……….I will try and smile though my heart is aching..its hard …..but we were all better for knowing Micheal and I am happy at least to have lived to enjoy his music and admire him as a person….he will never b forgotten. R.I.P

It really was a beautiful service. Better than what I was expecting. BET should really take note that this is how someone should be remembered. And one more thing… it really is ashamed that a post about Rihanna can get more comments than Michael Jackson did today. That chick got almost 400 comments the other day of those pics with Jay-Z in the club!

R.I.P. Michael Joseph Jackson! We love you!

@ JL — I was also surprised at how “christian” the service seemed.

my rep from texas gave a powerful speech.

i shed a few tears here and there, but i bawled when paris started crying.

i hate that i missed usher’s touching the casket.

that joe jackson seems like a strange man smh. i just don’t know what to think about him.

I can’t even watch TV without MJ getting talked about.

It’s kinda aggravating.

We have folks over there in Afghanistan and Iraq and wherever else dying for our rights

Or

Families are losing jobs like crazy nowadays

Or

Expensive college tuition (OMG!)

But a pop star’s death gets more attention.

Kinda sad.

mikelover 4 life

Tuesday, July 7, 2009 /

I recall knowing who Michael Jackson was before I could pronounce my full name. He was always family to me. I had four older brothers with big hair that would dance to the Jacksons music, so as a two year old I saw the Jacksons on TV and I couldn’t tell them apart from my brothers. (Hey I couldn’t count yet.)

By the age of five I was completely aware and in love with Michael Jackson. I recall wishing I was his Thriller co-star Ola Ray and that I had a blue leopard print outfit so that Michael would mistake me for her and walk with me and take me to the movies. I thought Michael was the most beautiful sight to see with his bright pearly white smile and big dreamy brown eyes. When I watched or listened to Michael Jackson, my heart smiled and I was happy and at peace. He gave my sad childhood moments of happiness.

Around the age of seven my Aunt took me to my first concert, The Jacksons Victory tour. I was so happy I danced the entire concert with a smile on my face.

As an adolecent I related to Michael, I could sense he had the spirit of a child. I was connected to him somehow.
His personal interviews revealed stories of a strict upbringing, somthing I was familiar with. I loved him even more.

I never questioned his actions I always knew where he was coming from. My connection was so amazing that I recall getting a newly released cd, knowing the words he wrote to the songs as I listened to the lyrics for the very first time. I have never been like that with any other musician but Michael Jackson. I knew where he was coming from and I knew where he was going. I felt his love, joy, and pain.

Growing up he inspired the way I danced, dressed, and wrote poetry. I share his tremendous love for children ability to help others, vegetarianism, reclusiveness, love of hats and sunglasses and what others consider essentric ways.

Michael Jackson posed for a picture for me although I never had the chance to meet him. In 2002, a friend of mine was working in a store in LasVages where he was shopping. She had just returned from her break and was told Michael Jackson was in the store. She ran after him before he could leave and told him that she had a friend named Jamillah in Cleveland that was in love with him and would love a picture of him. Being the gentleman as always, he obliged and posed for a photo wearing a red shirt. She called me after he left saying you wouldn’t believe who I just met. When she told me the story I felt like I was there. I was so elated. I anticipated the arrival of that photo worse than a kid awaiting opening presents on Christmas day. Michael Jackson had just given me even more reason to love him.

Michael Joseph Jackson, a father, an entertainer, an innovator, a gentle soul, childlike, philanthropist, a genius,a legend, a gift from god and now an angel. And I
just cant stop loving him.

Through my pain and thru my sorrow and the promise of another tomorrow I will never let you part you are always in my heart.

His kids belong with his family, Joe and Katherine don’t even live together. There is no reason to take those beautiful kids away. I will keep the family in prayer

That lil Paris is gonna follow in the family footsteps. She had the courage to not just speak before thousands in the ARENA but she was speaking to millions watching it on television. Very emotional to watch!! I love the way the Jackson’s family have pulled together as one strong unit to support Michael.
I wish all the negativity would just stop in the media. After seeing little Paris cry it really hit home that this was a MAN and he was a DAD and he was LOVED, especially by his kids!!
MJ’s kids belong with the Jackson’s…that is their REAL family…to hell with Debbie Rowe

Michael Jackson’s memorial service was so, so, so good. My prayers go out to the family for opening their hearts to the fans who loved and respected Michael. I will keep the Jackson family in my prayers because they are truly worthy of much prayer for sharing Michael with all of us. It had to be hard for them and they showed an unselfish love for all.

So for that I say thank you Mr. and Mrs. Jackson, Jackie, Marlon, Tito, Jermaine, Randy, Rebe, Janet and Latoya for lending Michael to all of us for all these years. God Bless Michael and may the Lord continuously be with you all.

This was a very emotional day for me….I loved the memorial service. It was beautiful, heartfelt, and a touching celbration to Michael’s life. I’m just so PISSED because I feel that the media killed him. Just like Marlon said “How much riducule is one person supposed to take?” He was in so much emotional pain thats why I believe he was using meds to sleep. I grew up in the 80s listening to Michael and I was blessed enough to see him live @ the Victory Tour in December of 1984@ Dodger Stadium. It was the BEST concert EVER!!! Michael is with the LORD now, and I’m SOOOO happy that no one can ever hurt him again EVER! And all those evil people who wanted to tear him down will get theirs on judgement day!! MISS U MICHAEL, LOVE U!!! UR THE BEST ENTERTAINER EVER!!

I teared up at some parts of the service, like when the casket was brought in by some of Michael’s brothers (don’t remember which ones I saw carrying it) when Brooke Shields spoke, and some other times but when Paris spoke - I lost it. I was fine the whole service but at that point I couldn’t hold back the tears. I really hope the kids get to stay with Katherine Jackson.

Loved just about every moment of the memorial.
Michael will always be remembered.

@ #23 MJ deserves all the attention from the media because the media tortured him for many years in life so its only fair they cover his passing . Those issues you raised are important but this is MJ’s time to shine once again. I’m sick of people complaining about the MJ coverage he DESERVED it all because he WAS, IS and WILL ALWAYS be the greatest!!! May God keep this family. I was sad, but lost it when Paris spoke of her father. Paternity test that emotion a$$holes!!! The bond that those kids showed with their aunts and uncles and grandmother and The King speaks more that anything the media and nay sayers could ever try to verbalize. I especially want to reach out to Prince I. He has that same look of sorrow, detachment and growing anger in his eyes that I did when I buried my parents. Those feelings ate me up until I was 20. I pray that Mike’s family keep those kids safe and happy. It’s going to be tough on them. R.I.P to The King…

Paris speech was heartfelt

Those are his children - just because they’re are not fully black doesnt mean. Those kids do not belong to him. The children are a product of a white women and black man. Michael never created seperation - such a diversie persona. Doesnt matter if your ”Black or white”.

Blanket is very cute. He resembles Michael. Paris such a sweet girl. The older one i can see abit of Michael. God bless them. It going to be hard. I hope they stay with Katherine.

To #23 SANTORO

Why comment on a social blog that’s about MJ’s death if it’s soo “aggravating” to you? There are many news websites that are still talking about the war and etc. So if MJ’s memorial isn’t important to you, DON’T COMMENT. Keep your negativity to yourself and go read a book or something. You’re truly not compelled to read the blogs or turn on the television. I truly don’t understand people like you…

Now that I got that off my chest…

The memorial was perfect. Michael Jackson is someone I grew up listening to and it still seems unbelievable that he’s gone. I truly feel he was misunderstood by the media and I’m thankful that he is finally living in peace. God bless MJ.

Blanket reminds me of Michael. He was so shy in timid and understandably so.

But Paris… that girl was so courageous to speak in front of everyone. And not just then. The whole service she seemed the most attentive and moved. The first to stand up during the ovations in her father’s honor. I don’t know… I saw something in her. I predict amazing things in her future if her spirit remains the same and nourished.

I’m a fan, but not a Stan…HOWEVER from the moment the rolled the casket in to “Soon and Very Soon We’re Going to See the King”, I lost it.

It really does matter if those are his biological kids or not because he loved those kids probably more than himself! And that is what made me cry…I am not worried about MJ because I know he is well. But I am worried about his kids. It is difficult to tell a kids why their parent is gone! I mean you can say they are in a better place but than they start to question the place that they are at right now. Paris tears just hurt my soul! WE LOVE YOU MICHAEL!!!!!!

Those children are so wonderful! Who cares if they are not his biologically.

BUT the 2 boys look like Michael to me. I love how Janet held that little girl!!!!

He was their father and God help those children if they are forced to live with TOTAL STRANGERS!

Debbie R was a vessel for those children to be born and that’s it! If she loved those children she would not put them through a messy custody battle! They have been living with Micheal’s family all these years and now she comes trying to take them away from what they have always known.

Michael was a gift to this world and the world will never see another man like him!

Those children are absolutely adorable and I hope the Jackson’s fight with everything they have to keep them because to live half your young life with one group of people and then to change that after the parent you have been with for so long passes away, you going to have some problems to deal with. They will be emotionally damaged even further if they have to leave the life they have known to go to something totally different. I feel so bad for them and the loss the Jackson’s must be feeling.

RIP Michael.

You are in a better place than down here with the vultures!!! God took his angel to heaven.

That was the most beautiful event of 2009 besides Barack Obama’s Inauguration. Michael was truly loved and I will miss his music. Time are difficult now, but those kids will be loved and blessed just as their father would have wanted. I keep my his family and his children in my thoughts and prayers. The Jacksons have a strength that is truly admirable and I know that they will make it through this difficult time. God bless and have peaceful rest, Michael.

The memorial was fantastic I enjoyed everything about it. All the speeches were very heartfelt especially Queen La doing the Maya Angelou poem ‘We Had Him’. Magic telling his story of meeting MJ was very good. I kinda had a “Aw Shyt” moment when Al Sharpton came up lol but when he told his children “There was nothing strange about your daddy, it was strange what he had to deal with” I had to agree. That nygga was preaching though I betcha u people in the audience thought they was in church with Al Sharpton & Bernice King MLK III came up. & might I add they both sound like they had their father coming outta of them lol The other performances were great. Imma grown ass man crying through this whole memorial. Especially when Marlon & Paris came up I was done lol the tears were flowing.

No matter what they say those were his kids biologically or not. Those kids don’t know anything about that they just knew that was their father.Michael Jackson was all about peace & love. The greatest entertainer whoever lived! Set the bar & broke it. He can finally rest now he is in a far better place. No more pain & heartache. His legacy will live on forever. His soul is anchored in the Lord. RIH Michael Joseph Jackson AKA THE KING

Looking @ the Jacksons - that’s a BAD LOOKING FAMILY. Those sister’s look fierce walking down that hallway & Rebbie looks good.

But I’m still concerned as I mentioned earlier that MJJ would not have want his children in the spotlight like that. That’s my only concern. I know the Jacksons are going to take Great care of his children.

Just wondering though what a custody battle will reveal. It would be shameful if those kids are not his, then they’re lives will really be torn apart. especially if MJJ did not sign an acknowledgement of paternity or sign the kids birth certificate.

If custody goes unchallenged then I know Mrs. Jackson will raise them better then anyone else. She raised 9 kids that all grew up to be superstars in their own right…..arguably except Letoya but every family as a Letoya :-)

The service was beautiful. Like they say how you live your life reflects on the type of going away you have. I was actually in summer school and my teacher was nice enough to let us watch it. I will never forget this day. Jermaine’s performance is what had me, but since I was in class I tried to hold it in.

That memorial was absolutely beautiful. I think every black person stopped what they were doing for a moment to see this. You see people in the streets in Harlem, watching him on the big screen, and people all over the world paying tribute. His children are absolutely beautiful, Paris was so brave to do that, and we all connected with her because when she was talking about her father, she made him seem “human”. A father, a brother, a friend.
I’m really going to miss him so much. His music, his smile, his eyes, his laugh, everything about him was so rare, and i doubt we’ll ever see such a character as he was. No one will ever take your throne away from you, Michael, and now you will live forever as the King of Pop.

I just wished you could see this. It would bring tears to your eyes. We always loved you, no matter what. No matter what they said about you, we knew the truth. God bless you, God bless your children, God bless your brothers and sisters, God bless Katherine, Joe and all of the lucky people who can honestly say you have touched their lives forever. I love you, Michael.

SANTORO AKA # 23 Its the lil things in life we cherish and l mean little by certain standards and different levels. Even though there are bigger problems in the world. Michael was a part of all our lifes and has touched many. We were remembering how great he was and how he tried to change the world. Truely FK!!! your war and you college tuition. Get on the same page and dont post irrlevent sh*t. I apologize but when we as a world find something we can relate to and all stop and think about. I mean something we all agree on, something that we can all feel and lean on each other about, not like war and politics. Some one like you cames around and FKs it up. Michael was about just that you complain about. And no matter where you were around the world ever stopped to pay homage…but as mike said “I’m only human” and you are so your forgiven. next time get on or get off!

What this article haven’t even reach 100 yet?! Its no wonder black music is on its last leg! An icon of generation and the biggest entertainer that the world has ever known and the article hasn’t even reached 100?! But if it was Rihanna it would be at 200 or more, right?

Anyways from Al Sharpton, to the Martin Luther King kids, Jermaine, Mariah, Usher, Stevie Wonder! This was the greatest sendoff that an icon like MJ could ever hoped for! It was emotional, funny! And it made me cry and smile! If you missed it you are truly a sad lot!

My prayers to the Jackson family, MJ kids, and prayers to MJ himself. My only for MJ is for his message of hope continues!

BTW, I remember specualtions in the past about MJ kids not looking like him or being white, well I’m glad that shit been SHUTDOWN!

What a befitting memorial/going away for a wonderful genius we know as Michael Jackson. What a day, ya’ll! First off, when Paris got up and spoke, that was all she wrote because I balled my eyes out. What a moving tribute to her daddy. Yes, daddy. Regardless of whether or not he is or isn’t her biological daddy, HE IS HER DADDY. Paris told ya that. These poor babies are without their daddy. I don’t think their was a dry eye with anyone who watched that.

Other highlights:

Al Sharpton: Excellent speech especially when he said, “I want his children to know there was nothing strange about your daddy, it was strange what your daddy had to deal with.” Go’on, Brother Al!

Jermaine Jackson - “Smile”
Jennifer Hudson
Usher
Paris Jackson - I cried a river just like everyone else.

I might’ve missed a few others, but overall, it was a beautiful home going for the greatest entertainer past, present and future.

We love you, Michael. No one will ever, ever replace you. You will forever live in our hearts. We have your music, videos, and everything written about you that we can remember as we celebrate your life and legacy.

For all I know and care, those type of issues gonna be around for years and years to come. Michael isnt. Some n***as are just jealous they couldnt have the impact Michael had on the world. A**hole.

I dont usually care for Al Sharpton , but if this man didnt knock the sh*t out the park. Had me on the floor, screaming “CHUUUUURCCHHHHHH”.

Donatella Versace received a personal request from Janet Jackson to outfit the entire Jackson family in Versace for today’s Michael Jackson memorial service!

Janet, LaToya, the Jackson brothers and Michael’s children will all be wearing custom-made Versace in honor of Michael, who had a long love affair with the Italian fashion house.

Michael was often seen wearing Versace both on and off stage and was a huge fan of the late Gianni Versace’s designs.

RIP MJ what a beautiful tribute. the memorial was flawless.

Micheal Jackson’s Memorial Service was very well put together!!! That was a great tribute for the greatest entertainer who every lived!! The service was so very touching and i would say touched anyone who truly has a heart! I was completely WoWed by this service and touched. MJ was truely a kind gentle soul and if I would have gotten the pleasure of meeting him I’m pretty sure he would have filled my heart with his kindness and caring heart. His children are absolutely beautiful!!

Al Sharpton… that was probably the best speech I have heard from you thus far! You better tell them voltures called the media and them haters!

Marlon…You better tell them to leave your Brother alone!

Stevie Wonder…. wow…. your voice is Still AMAZING!! I was wowed!

To All the performers and people who spoke…GREAT preformances! Every one of them were heartfelt and thanks for sharing your stories and kind words about Michael

Paris Jackson…Your father was amazing that let ANYONE tell you any different! May God be with you and your brothers through this tough time.

Jackson Family….Thank you for letting us be apart of your son, brother, fathers, cousins farwell…that meant more then you can imagine to alot of people! Your family amazes me with your loving for one another…Great family!

Michael Jackson… You will truely be missed!!! May your soul Rest in Peace!

I’m proud but very sadden to say that a had a chance to go to the actually memorial. The broadcast was very great in covering the footage, but the inside was amazing. you could honestly feel the spirit of everyone in the room. people cried on other peoples shoulder no matter their race, creed, or religion. Staples center was packed!!! This made up for that crap BET put together. Stevie Wonder made me cry and so did Jermain Jackson. He is the best entertainer and he will never be dupliated. I love him, I only wish I had the chance to attend a concert as opposed to the memorial service. I’m blessed and truely honored to be in the same room in as him even if its just he body. Absent from the body, present with the lord for those who love christ and believe in him. I have to say that enerygy their was amazing and that his fans should be honored because Mike truely loved his fans.

Grace the nanny was more of a real mom than Debbie would ever be.
Michael left Debbie out of the will for a reason. He knew if he put her anywhere in that will, she would have more power to come back and do what she wants. He did not want to give her an open door to those kids.

This was beautiful, perfect, fitting…for the King of Pop. My eyes are so swollen now, lol, I practically cried throughout the whole thing but I truly broke down when Paris spoke; it was so heart-wrenching. From Queen Latifah’s reading of Maya Angelou’s poem to the numerous people on stage singing the ever so beautiful “Heal the World” and “We are the World,” this memorial was seemingly flawless. And, I have to say, I think Paris is absolutely gorgeous! I can’t get over it I have been saying it to so many people ha ha… All of his children are beautiful.

I think you’re talking about “Moonwalker.” It was the one where he danced with that bunny lol
And i agree that the kids really take to Janet. She’d be a good guardian to them also. But I’m not surprised because look at how close she and Michael were.

Nonetheless, that was one of the greatest memorial services for THE greatest entertainer ever. I think I cried at least 5 times today, if not more- during Jermaine’s performance when his voice cracked at the end, Marlon’s speech, Usher’s performance, and of course when Paris spoke.

But the show also had it’s happier moments like when Smokey spoke about how Michael basically stole “Who’s Loving You” and he said, and I quote: “Let me see this man’s birth certificate.” lol
And Magic’s whole discussion about the KFC was hilarious.

Overall, this was a really touching experience. As we all know, it impacted his fans, but it also touched his haters and those who ridiculed him. I think they finally got to see the truly compassionate, loving, and pure individual that Michael Jackson was. Seeing Larry King’s eyes well up on CNN after the memorial pretty much solidified this observation. All those who mocked him during the last 10 years of his life are probably regretting their actions.
It’s just so sad that he had to die for people to finally see him for who he was all along.
In the words of Marlon: “Being judged, ridiculed. How much pain can one take? Maybe now, Michael, they will leave you alone.”

I held it together during most of the memorial, but Usher’s performance and Paris’ words had me bawling. The Jackson family is a strong, beautiful family and I know that they will pull through this. Bless them all. Those children are so beautiful and I know that although hurting at this time, they must be proud to be the children of such a wonderful man. Michael was a DADDY, not just a father. Even with all the stress and problems he endured, he did more for his children than many parents do. You can tell how much he loved them and wanted them to have as normal a life as possible. I know they will be in good hands.

It still doesn’t feel like this happened. I’m only 22 but I’ve been around long enough to appreciate your music and more importantly, your SPIRIT. Rest in perfect peace, Michael. We love you.

This was beautiful, well put together.

the words from Stevie Wonder song will always stay with me and it brings me to tears when i recite in my head the words, “Michael, why didn’t you stay?”

i honestly would like to know why couldn’t he stay just a little while longer. I mean, musically he as giving us so much more, more then we could take. He didn’t owe us anything else, BUT he does owe his kids his time, far more time then he was giving.

I’m sad and emotional because his three kids are left without a father, the only parent that they came to love and knew that he loved them unconditionally.

so my question is: why couldn’t he stay to be with his kids, to see them grow healthy and strong?

Michael’s death has me thinking once again: is there truly and after life and will we meet our love ones once again?

See, I think this often and that’s the scary part. When you die, you don’t know if you are “spirtually” removed from your body or when you die, you see black and that’s it or, you die and …that’s it.

what creates questions or theories of about what death is… you were so use to life and know what exists and doesn’t exist. you have your brain to process and to point out what is and what isn’t, when you pass on, is that the end? is there such thing as “the end”.

i may not sound like i am making sense to anyone but it’s just awkward to wonder if there is something, a new world or phase that we move into to begin our journey in another form. =\

Stevie, Brooke Magic, Marlon, they all touched me deeply. But when Paris spoke, I teared up. Right there, was a daughter who just lost her father. It was so clear as a bell that Michael and his kids knew something about unconditional love.

And something else… It’s so sad that so many of us black folks b*tched (and still b*tch about kids & races. ‘Mike’s kids are too white, why Madonna gotta adopt black kids…’. Just shut up already. A kid is a kid, a parent is a parent. Be kind and unite for gods sake.

It wasn’t until I came to this country that I said “damn, is that what he was saying?” lol. We sang with you, we danced to your music! Thank You Michael, Thank You for Everything!! Michael, “I Want You Back”!!

I’M STILL LOL @ MAGIC JOHNSON: “MIKE YOU EAT KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN???” LOL. ONE OF HIS PUBLICISTS SAID THAT KFC WAS HIS FAVORITE FOOD. GO FIGURE. I LOVE HEARING STORIES LIKE THAT. IT GIVES US A CHANCE TO SEE THE MORE HUMAN SIDE OF MICHAEL. ALSO WHEN HIS KIDS TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH THEY LOVED THEIR DAD. YOU GET SO CAUGHT UP IN THE CELEBRITY THAT YOU FORGET THIS IS A REAL PERSON WITH FEELINGS AND A HEART THAT CAN BE BROKEN. A PERSON THAT GETS TIRED AND WEARY JUST LIKE ALL OF US. HE SANG, DANCED, AND PERFORMED HIS HEART OUT FOR HIS FANS. SO YES HE DESERVES EVERY BIT OF MEDIA COVERAGE HE HAS GOTTEN ON THE DAY OF HIS MEMORIAL. I’M NOT MAD ABOUT THE MARIAH BACKGROUND WITH HER IN HER PANTIES. LOL. I HAD MY CHANCE TO SAY GOODBYE TO MICHAEL SO I’M AT PEACE WITH IT.

It was a beautiful memorial, very touching and honest. I’m just happy that we all can see that Michael kids does indeed looks biracial. They also have features of the late Michael, especially Prince. They are so beautiful and intelligent, I cried throughout the whole service. Paris really brought me to my knees, that man was a good man, a loving man to his children. I am just so sad that we, yes we(african americans) let white people destroy yet another Legend in our race. A mother knows her child and Katherine stood by her son 100%. For you that don’t know, that little white creep was lying and admitted to it. His father put him up to it for the money, I hope the Jacksons sue his white azz. Everyone did an amazing job with the songs, especially little boy, he could sing his butt off. We love you Michael, RIP, still hard for me to believe. Why is the media so cruel? they now have Michael’s pics in magazine showing him dead. I couldn’t even look at it, just made me sick to my stomach, white people, white people, dayum devils.

AND AS FOR #23 SANTORO..

MICHAEL JACKSON WAS MUCH MORE THAN “A POP STAR”. ACTUALLY IF MORE PEOPLE LISTENED TO AND EMBRACED THE MESSAGES OF MICHAEL’S MUSIC WE WOULDN’T HAVE ANY WARS AND PEOPLE WOULDN’T HAVE TO BE DYING EVERY DAY IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN. SECONDLY, MICHAEL JACKSON WAS ONE OF THE MOST GENEROUS PEOPLE WHO EVER LIVED. HE ACTUALLY GAVE MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO THE UNITED NEGRO COLLEGE FUND AND NUMEROUS OTHER CHARITIES SO THAT LESS FORTUNATE KIDS COULD AFFORD TO GO TO COLLEGE. HE HAS FED, CLOTHED, AND PAID FOR THE EDUCATION OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE. SO YOU SHOULD REALLY BE APPRECIATIVE OF PEOPLE LIKE MICHAEL JACKSON INSTEAD OF TRIVIALIZING HIM AS NOTHING MORE THAN “A POP STAR” YOU JACKA$$!

There is something about their eyes…those two boys remind me so much of Michael, especially that little Blanket!

But in just those few words, Paris displayed eloquence, maturity, and strength that far surpass her young years. And she really put this all into perspective to me. The world mourns because it lost an amazing humanitarian and probably THE greatest entertainer we will ever see in our lifetime, but his biggest and most important role was being dad. Even if not a drop of his blood is in their veins, he was dad. Our loss is great, but all those kids know is that they lost dad. That little girl’s tears reminded me that what we feel doesn’t even compare to what they feel. Thankfully, they have a grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cousins to make sure that they are safe, happy, and loved. May God bless Prince-Michael, Prince-Michael II, and Paris Katherine Jackson.

THIS SITUATION OF MICHAEL JACKSON HAS CHANGED ME AND MADE ME A BETTER PERSON, I THINK WE REALLY NEED TO TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER INSTEAD OF MISTREATING EACH OTHER SO BAD WHILE ALIVE, WE NEED TO ACCEPT EACH OTHER UNIQUENESS AND STOP MAKING FUN OF EACH OTHER INSTEAD LETS SUPPORT EACH OTHER,LETS STOP GOING WITH THE HYPE AND BELIEVE IN THE TRUTH. WE HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT WHITE PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS GONNA TRY AND PUT US DOWN THEY DO THAT TO ALL SUCCESSFUL BLACK MAN. AND THATS WHY ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH SUCESSFULL BLACK PEOPLE IS MORE INTERESTING TO THEM THATS THE ONLY WAY FOR THEM TO DEFEAT US. THEY KNOW THAT WE ARE STRONG AND SOON WE WILL TAKE OVER THE WORLD.

IM EVEN SURPRISED THAT IM TALKING LIKE THIS IM NOT USUALLY LIKE THIS LOOSING THE KING HAS CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER. FROM NOW ON I WILL SUPPORT ALL MY PEOPLE THAT ARE TRYING TO MAKE DIFFERENCE IN LIFE AND I WON’T JUDGE U CAUSE ONLY GOD KNOW THE TRUTH!!!

HIS ONLY SIN WAS THA HE WAS TOO & PURE AND INNOCENT IN HIS WORLD HE THOUGHT EVERYONE WAS LIKE HIM BUT HAD NO IDEA HOW EVIL THE WORLD IS.

THROUGH GOD THAT I BELIEVE WATCH WATS GONNA HAPPENED WHO EVER HAS LIED ABOUT MJ WILL COME IN FRONT ONE DAY AND CONFESS THE TRUTH ABOUT LIES WATCH GOD IS NOT SLEEPING!!!

Kimora, I’m with you on that. Mike should still be here with his kids. But God decided our fate and his kids will know more and more that Mike was love. Not by his talent only but the time he gave to charties and the world.

Seriously I think this generations ofl entertainers need to get off their butts and start during more or they will only be remember for being selfish and egotiscial.

Oh and pretty much the rumours about Mike kids being socially inept was proven wrong. Did anyone noticed that his kids were singing on stagw with everyone else? Most kids would’ve been afraid or shy but his kids were singing. I thought it was beautiful. The family have to make sure these kids level of education and attitude is kept the same, as if their daddy was alive. No slacking for Mike kids because I heard they are smart kids!

Man, what a sad but beautiful day! I will never forget this day for as long as I live.

Moving on

This was such a wonderful tribute to MJ. At first I wished they did have some dance tributes but when I thought about it I guess it wouldn’t really be appropriate. At least I haven’t ever seen anyone dancing at a funeral or memorial service. Maybe that would be too much. My heart goes out to the family especially MJ’s children. I hope and pray they get to remain with the Jackson family. Debbie Rowe shouldn’t even consider taking them. They have been through enough. Everyone should just leave that family alone.

I watch the whole memorial on my tv. I cried, and cried. I have a disable little boy. I take care of all by myself which is hard. i have to pray to god everyday and night for strength i love him so much . the day michael past my daughter kenya print seven of the jacksons family pictures on the computer that evening. the day after michael past me in my 16 yrs old daugther kenya, in my son antwone took the bus and to put michael in the family on are shirt. my little boy had his t-shirt already for the fouth of july with a flag on the front. so we took his shirt in put on the back of it michael picture when he was little boy sitting on a couch with shorts on and 1958 top left corner and in on the right corner of his shirt he has michael jackson thriller cover ending with 2009. i also lost to twin baby boys 2001. my heart goes out to the mom rebbie tito jermaine marlon to jackie latoya randy and most of all janet jackson and the father joe jackson. And my heart goes out to the jackson family b/c i knew marlon had a twin who died at birth. The song 1 of the jackson brothers sung at the memorial touched my heart dearly and michael’s daughter paris
took my breath away it was so emotional to see her in tears but that was ok she loved her daddy michael jackson.

our love from the smith family in long beach, calfornia.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. So sad for those kids. Michael needed help. He needed to be admitted to a hospital for severe insomnia or have a sleep study to find out why he was not able to sleep. He did not know the risk he was taking with his life using these drugs and how his desparation to get rest would take his life and have his entire family and children hurting forever, including his fans. Just like Kanye’s mom and Ushers wife, almost found out. Doing these elective things could kill you, but no one thinks about the what if and others that love them if something went wrong. Life is too precious to gamble. I know those are his kids, but as an aunt of a biracial child, I wonder if they are biologically his children. Pretty sure we may find out if Debbie fights for custody.

Nice service. But i felt that there should have been an upbeat portion to the show. C. Breezy should’ve performed as a tribute to MJ. They mainly focused on the boring stuff

^^^^^^ I just wish people like you would stop writing stuff like this!!!! Don’t nobody want to see Chris brown ignorant ass perform!!! He is not the only one that can “Try” to dance like MJ’ there’s other male R&B singers that can move too” His female fans are crazy to think the Jackson family will alow him to launch a comeback off Micheals death. Besides” Why would they let him perform??? He’s not even an astablished singer” CB low self asteem female fans needs to sit down with that mess!!! Every award show or MJ tribute don’t owe his troubled ass a comeback performance!!! We will let his new “music” speak for it’s self.

Al Sharpton’s speech was on point! I had an Amen moment when he said “Wasn’t nothing strange about your daddy..it was strange what he had to deal with.” I was yelling at the TV when he said that.

I’m glad I left work early to watch this at home.

SANTORO, not to in anyway minimize you comment, but Troops in Afganistan, Rising College tuition, People losing theirs homes, etc. are all things that also got more than their fair share of news coverage, or were you not watching TV all those days, weeks, and months long before Michael Jackson’s passing.

Now if you are tired of seeing the coverage of Mr. Jackson, though I do agree some of it is a bit much, then you do have the option to turn to the channel or simply don’t watch it since you seem to so bothered by it. There is this thing on your TV called the “Power” button to turn it off. Did you not know that? Tuesday’s memorial was more than deserving and befitting for all that “THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER THAT EVER LIVED” has given this world. He was a uniter not a divider. Not only was he entertainer and was the consumate humanitarian. As Kobe Bryant stated, he is listed in the Gueniss Book of World Records as the Pop Star who gave the the most charities. And did you not hear Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee’s moving tribute, about how Micheal visited our wounded troops at Walter Reid’s hospital overseas, how he visited and donated to orphanges in Namibia, gave to hospitals, the need, the less fortunate. Say and feel what you like about Micheal Jackson, but folks like you and your fellow jackass, that low life, poor excuse of a Congressman Peter King can in no way slight what took place on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 or what the Iconic Legend, Mr. Micheal Joseph Jackson contributed to the world to help make a better place. As mentioned earlier if you tired of seeing the coverage on Micheal, then don’t watch. I will now very sternly tell you to go find a spot and sit still as quickly as you can. R.I.P. Micheal my brother.

Mama aint raise no Bitch but I was holding back the tears and eventually cried like a baby. I wasn’t crying cause of his death, I cried because of his life and how one man can love and care so much for total strangers and so many other people. I don’t know if you peeped it when they said that Michael Jackson is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the one single celebrity that has given the most money to the most charities. What stands out is that he didn’t make a spectacle of that giving nature, and when you do things like that for no other reason but just to help the world, that means you give from the heart, and that should sum up what an angel Michael was. God bless his soul and I know Michael will always live on in my hart and in the music.

Jermaine’s performance of “SMILE”, Usher’s performance of “GONE TOO SOON”, and Micheal’s little sweethart of a daughter Paris Michael brought everyone to tears. Jermaine sung a verse of that song during his interview with Matt Lauer of the Today Show and he couldn’t get through it before breaking down, and he nearly did again at the end of the song on Tuesday. Usher going down to the casket and breaking down at the end and then consoled by all of the Jackson siblings. Those were the main highlights for a brother, but then I also loved when Rev. Al Sharpton got up and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee spoke - a message to those who always tried to tear Micheal down. As I stated earlier, this was a ceremony befitting for the KING.

All I have to say is THAT’S how you do a tribute!!!

I saw the pre-memorial coverage, once I saw the funeral procession with the hearse in the front and the 37 cars..no correction ESCALADES!!! Do you know how many people fit in a ESCALADE??? Michael’s family and friends ran deep! I lost it and started crying from there and didn’t stop for 3 hours!!

When they brought him in while Andre Crouch choir sung “Soon and Very Soon”…I lost it again. The speeches were fantastic, gave Michael the person more clarity.

Jennifer Hudson gets much respect in my book. The girl has lost so much and IMO is grieving through her performances, you can see at one point, she was going to tear up. She is a professional and her mother, brother and nephew are looking down from heaven and smiling cause she is doing them proud.

Lionel Richie…”Jesus is Love”. Always loved that song, and I swear, I was missing the Commodores when he sang that. Had me testifying.

John Mayer playing “Human Nature”. Great!. Only Michael can sing that. Why sing it? Play the guitar version and let the background singers do the rest. Fantastic, just fantastic.

Jermaine singing “Smile” through his tears. OMG…thinking about it now wells me up.

I agree, Paris sealed the deal on me. Made me ashamed of all the MJ jokes we have told on this site. I mean, it was over. When she started with “Daddy”…that was it. I mean what else can you say?

However I have to add this because it has to be mentioned…MARLON!!!! OMG!!! I watched him from the beginning when he helped his brothers roll that casket out until he spoke before Paris. MARLON IS TORE UP!!! When he got up there and said “I’m hurt”…and broke down, started telling stories about he and Michael as kids, how he knew his own brother who is in disguise in the record store, about how Michael was ridiculed and he was hurt…when he said “maybe they’ll leave you alone now”…and when he broke down again, and Jackie was going down to the ground and Randy had to pull him up. YOU COULD FEEL THE BROTHERS PAIN!!! OMG!! I have to stop…I’m crying again. I have the whole thing recorded on DVD, but I have to tell you, I don’t think I could ever watch it again. Wonderful tribute but so sad. RIP Mr Jackson. Thank you for giving me the soundtrack of my 43 years on this earth.

This was a beautiful heartfelt service. I’m so glad that the world got to see that they are a family like other families. Families don’t always get along and see eye to eye, it’s a part of being human, and especially coming from such a large family I’m sure there were times where they were trying to find their place at home and in the world. The two most moving things to me was when his brothers bought his casket in and placed it on the stand and Marlon leaned over and kissed the casket, my heart broke and I just cried, and when Paris let the world know her daddy was a good daddy. He may have done different things in his personal life, but that’s just it, it’s his personal life. You can’t give all of yourself to the fans and media all the time and be perfect.

Michael Jackson Album Sales Total 800K In Pre-Memorial Week
July 07, 2009 – Rock and Pop

By Keith Caulfield, L.A.

On the day the world said goodbye to Michael Jackson, his legacy continues to shine on Billboard’s charts, a testament to his lasting musical legacy and impact.

Based on preliminary sales numbers from Nielsen SoundScan, Jackson’s catalog of solo albums sold a whopping 800,000 copies in the U.S. in the tracking week that ended at the close of business on Sunday (July 5) night. That’s an increase of 90% compared to the previous week, when his combined albums sold 422,000.

A jump in sales was expected, since this was the first full week of sales since Jackson’s passing on June 25. Additionally, after most physical retailers swiftly sold out of available Jackson albums, Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group were able to replenish brick-and-mortar stores with CDs last week to meet customer demand.

In turn, physical albums accounted for 82% of Jackson’s sales last week — 656,000 physical albums versus 144,000 download albums. In the week previous, when Jackson’s albums moved a total of 422,000, physical albums accounted for 43% of that sum (181,000) while digital albums made up the other 57% (241,000).

When Sou ndScan’s charts are released in the morning on Wednesday, July 8, Jackson’s “Number Ones” collection will be the top selling album in the United States, with 339,000 (up 215%) and will also be No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Comprehensive Albums chart. “Thriller” will be No. 2 with 187,000 (up 86%) while the third place set will be the newly released “Now 31″ various artists compilation, which will start with 169,000.

Jackson will also again dominate the Top Pop Catalog Albums chart. It tallies albums that are more than 18 months old, have fallen below No. 100 on the Billboard 200 and don’t have a current radio single. Catalog albums are ineligible to appear on The Billboard 200 chart though they can chart on the Top Comprehensive Albums chart.

Last week, Jackson had a record eight albums out of the top 10 on the Top Pop Catalog Albums chart, while a Jackson 5 compilation also found its way into the upper tier. This week, the entire top 10 is all-Jackson, all the time. He alone has albums at Nos. 1-6 and Nos. 8-10 while a Jackson 5 title (”The Ultimate Collection”) resides at No. 7.

On Billboard’s Hot Digital Songs chart, Jackson will hold down five out of the top 10 slots, with “Man in the Mirror” leading as his top selling digital download song of the week (159,000; down 3%). Overall, it ranks as the second-best selling song of the week, next to the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” (215,000; up 6%).

Jackson’s total song download sales this week — including his works with the Jackson 5 and the Jacksons — stand at 2.2 million downloads. Last week, the collected total was 2.6 million.

The only reason why another post would get more comments is b/c those celebs are up for debate…Michael Jackson is not up for debate, he is the best that ever did it and he is the KING OF POP. My prayers go w/ the family and the MILLIONS of Fans from young to old that he has forever touched.

I would believe they are biologically his if Michael, himself, was biracial (therefore making the kids only 25% black; it would all make sense, seei’ng as how they favor the likes of others with 25% african american heritage like Mariah Carey and Nicole Ritchie).

But Michael had enough african lineage that they should atleast have caramel (not olive) complexions and atleast one of them should have some curls…

But regardless, Michael was their FATHER and an incredible one at that.

It was a very touching memorial. I watched it online at work. I loved how the family was united, it was a beautiful tribute to Michael Jackson. Another black blog, (a woman who prides herself in being negative against her own kind but promotes people like Tiny and Atlanta) likes to point out that Jackson’s kids aren’t his own. Say what you want, but he raised these kids since birth making him the father regardless of blood. Those kids loved their father and my prayers go out to them.

I almost lost it towards the end of the Free Willy song that Jennifer Hudson sang and Michael’s spoken verse came on. It was so eery, sincere and heart wrenching at the same time. Once again, it was a very beautiful and deserving tribute for the King of Pop.

Santoro… are u having a bad day? You don’t have to keep posting on here. I’m actually surprised at all the media attention MJ’s death is receiveing. It’s good that a black man is getting the recognition he deserves. I must admit i was a little Michaeled out at first but the more and more I saw the videos, etc.. I was “remembering the time” when Michael Jackson was in heavy rotation. As a child, I can remember having my grandmother buy me and my twin sis Michael Jackson coats and Michael Jackson dolls. We loved Michael so much it was crazy. My sister even went and got the jherri curls. Say what you want about Michael but he paved the way for many of us and everyone accepted and loved michael. He did a lot of charity work and cared for all children and people. I love mIchael and really couldn’t believe that he was gone. I thought my husband was lieing when he said Michael Jackson was dead when i got home that Friday evening. I had to call my friends and immediately turned on the tv. I was kind of numb to the fact that he was gone and still can’t believe it. Rest in peace MJ and you will live on through your beautiful children and family.

i absolutely loved every part of the service except for mariah. but michael would understand she’s not what she used to be. usher, and al sharpton where my favorite parts that stick out in my head. also magic and kobe haha. fried chicken! michael is the king if you didnt cry during this, something is wrong with you. if you didnt understand what michael joseph jackson the king of music meant to the african american community and the world as a whole, you do now. I’ve always loved his music since the day i was born and i think its sad that only in his passing a lot of people are now realizing, “wow he did mean alot to the world”.
“And to his children, i want you guys to knw wasn’t nothin strange about your daddy, whats strange is what he had to go through” - Al Sharpton

they didnt show the other celebs in the audience because it was about michael and his family.

the oldest son is so handsome. my goodness. he will be a heart breaker. you can tell he is really sad because he is so silent and still.

poor children. u can tell they were friends with their father. i think katherine would do a good job but if her husband joe is mean to the children it could traumatize them more.

also, they do look like michael. def not like debbie and the dermatologist doctor. those two are hideous. debbie i believe was a surrogate and the both her and the doctor want money bc now they are broke that michael is gone. she said herself she didnt want them so dont give them to her!!!!!!!! if anything give them to janet, but her lifestyle is tooo crazy especially with jd in the mix! maybe thats why michael didnt give them to her initially or list her name.

I thought everything was good and I agree they could of got someone else to sing in Mariah’s place she was too sexy for a memorial service. Could she of left the twins inside for one day? Janet is going to be there to help those kids. Debbie Rowe is already showing her behind on TV cussing and stuff at reporters they need to grow up with dignity the way their Father wanted.

Judah has personal issues with black women and it’s probably because he’s been turned down by several of them, as they realised he was just a sad, bitter and senseless waste of space
i feel for you sweetie and i know not everyone can be loved…so you can die an unhappy and lonely man, it ain’t a crime

back to the post, you will be greatly missed Micheal, by both your fans and the rest of the world who find it difficult to admit you were the GREATEST ENTERTAINER OF ALL TIME, an ICON, a LEGEND..etc

@ 218 - JUDAH:

Leave it up to a man, esp. a so-called “Black man”, to attack anyone, but esp. Black women on this kind of post. You do it ALL the time, but there is a time and a place. I don’t think anyone was trying to “attribute the highlight of the …. commemoration to two white children”. I think people were merely expressing their grief at the loss and joy at the style and dignity with which the memorial was held (as opposed to the BET foolery). I would think this would be a time when we would uplift one another as opposed to tearing each other down. We get enough of that from others; why must we be subjected to it from our own as well, BROTHA?

I loved the memorial service. It was very heart wrenching. However, some of yall are taking the fakeness to a new level. Now everyone wants to suggest he is the biological father!!! When has anyone ever thought that? Yes he took care of them therefore he is their father. Biological, I DON’T THINK SO. Mariah’s father I think was Afro-Venezuelan and her mother is Irish. Therefore she is about 25% black. MJ’s mother and father are pretty much fully black, his mother has some Native American in her. He never looked mixed therefore those kids should have dark curly hair and darker skin. I have a mixed cousin. We know those are not the biological kids. I’m sorry I had to go into detail but yall are being fake. Also some people think they can tell others what they can and cannot say. Quit acting like yall are holier than thou. Please be real. That’s all i’m asking. But anyways I lost it when Paris spoke and her and Janet have a strong bond, you can tell.

Debbie Rowe needs to fall back.. or forward.. whichever is easier for her.. you not only gave up custody.. you accepted a check to do so. In fact, I have really respected how she has been dealing with this.. it is just the media trying to probe her on.. printing lies and saying she said certain things. Michael left a will and it was clear that he wanted his mother in charge.. if not, then Diana Ross.. these are 2 women that Michael trusted with all his heart..

And those kids look like Michael. LOL! Especially Blanket… and that pic of him peeking over the program with his big scared eyes has just made me teary.. it is ok, baby.. God and your family will watch over you. Brush these haters off your shoulder. The media are a bunch of vultures.

Paris is gorgeous.. damn! And with her red nails.. oh! She is fierce.. and they way she bravely put her foot forward and spoke her mind and spoke up for her daddy.. just made me cry. And the oldest.. so strong.. was stronger than me, I can tell you that. These are some good looking kids.. go ahead, Michael.. everything this man put out was beautiful..

A truly wonderful family. May God bless them.

that was the best memorial ever. they really had some great singers …. not the general singers that always sing at the festivities… and that little boy from britain sang that song for real… reebie look like the mom all the way….it was two of the brothers I couldnt recognize at all I think it was randy and marlon….Michael Jacksons little girl spoke well… she cried but her dad past away… so she hurting alot but like I said the memorial was nice, sweet and peaceful

well said, this family has proven to all that they are a close family, I was looking at how Michael kids act around Janet and the rest of the family, they don’t seem at all too me like they were kept away from them like the media put out there, you can see these kids truly love their grandmother, uncles and aunts, like I love mine!

Wow, you see how the media just write shit and people just eat it up!

Even if Debbie Rowe did want these kids, look like too me they would not want to be with her anyway!

Michael knew what he was doing when he left her ass out of that will, what mother in her RIGHT mind would take money over her own flesh and blood.

Again I say well done Mike!

As usual the media makes things out to be one thing and then you find it its totally false. Its obvious Mike never kept his kids away from the familly.

Remember when journalists had ethics? Yeah I know its hard. LOL

BTW, I hope someone will be there to makes sure these kids education is kept to the standard that Mike provided. I also hope Prince keeps his chess game strong and Paris grows into beautiful, smartest of young girls. I hope Blanket finds comfort in his family gets the childhood his dad could only imagine. I think they’re in good hands.

Greetings in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ!

I had a dream about Michael Jackson the night before, and the Lord instructed me to pray for his mother Catherine Jackson, and I obeyed. To be absent from the body is to to present with the Lord.

I must tell you that God’s timing is perfect. The number 5 is the Grace of God, and by His Grace Michael lived 50 years. My prayers are with the Jackson family, The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing.

The Homegoing Celebration for Michael Jackson was fit for a “King”. He deserves the best . Michael Jackson is my favorite entertainer and I pray that I will see him again.

Time is a clock for death. The apostle Paul writes, “The sting of death is sin, in the grave who to give thee thank.” Michael is in no more pain and sorrow. I have prayed for his salvation for many years.

To God be the glory!

His memorial was so sad I could barely watch. He is a true legend that is going to be missed. He was so talented and its just sad to see him go out like that. Paris made me so emotional after that last speech. I got a michael jackson t-shirt from http://michaeljacksoncollection.wordpress.com and I wore on the day of the memorial. I huddled with my family and cried with my family because history was made and he will never come back. R.I.P. to the ‘King of Pop’!

Good Morning:

I was gravely dissapointed in the tribute for Michael Jackson from BET. I would have rather that you waited in did it professionally. I realize the time limit you had, but you are professionals. It seem like it was the promotional show for Jamie Foxx. Jamie Foxx was not the correct entertainer to represent this show special show. I do expect professionalism from those who claim or hold that ticket, nothing else should have been allowed if it was not done honorably. It seemed to me that the selfish entertainers did not want to give up their spotlight for one night to honor someone who gave up 40 years. I looked at each one of them differently now. Humanitarian awards, how do you not give it to someone who is in the Guiness Book of World Records, did you not do your homework. The performers that you stuck in the show to try to give tribute were so phoney that it made me sick to my stomach to watch. The O’Jay clearly drunk, Don Cornelius should go into hiding forever and Jamie Foxx under the influence of something. I am writing now because if I had wrote sooner you probably would not want to read it. Why do we, when given the opportunity, do not take it and run with it. If no one else did a excellent tribute it should have been BET. So crappy, dissapointing, unprofessional and embarassing.
