i want you to succeed. and in my opinion you already have. but have you won any blog awards that were not preceeded by the word ‘black’? were the awards for all blogs or black blogs? i ask because we are never really ever included in their awards or categories. and that works for me when what we have is damn good like this site. it also elevates the black blogs when blogs like yours are celebrated….but other blogs are not making an effort to report on the style, substance (or lack thereof) of our artists like you do…so why are we now reporting on them….i get the need to move ahead…but once you open the door…it becomes about everything BUT being the best damn spot to find out about Black pop life and history too! (BTW i don’t see those Black History spots like i used to….is that temporary?)

when people ask where they can get the latest, greatest on our entertainers, i refer them to your site. but if folk like Katy Perry keep showing up then it feels like that slow assimilation, as in; ‘once you get a white audience/interest you have succeeded….

You know what, i am all for diversity and tolarance when it comes to race but you hit the nail on the head. Matter of fact your comment is one of the (probably only) comment that makes sense out of all the comments posted for this story, no offence to others..
I am black and i love black music but i also listen to other kind of music as it helps you grow mentally. Its helps build a larger vocabulary and gives you an insight to other things. sometimes it even helps you appreciate your kind of thing more coz you are able to compare and contrast. It helps you to hold a conversation and not look silly when it matters. So am all for diversity……
BUT… I like your comment. makes perfect sense. If i want to see or listen to other things other than black entertainment, you bet i will go some where else. Damn i use to love the “Black history spotlight”… sooooo educative and informative.
