SuperModel Alek Wek was spotted leaving a birthday party earlier this week in NYC. Alek is still a very popular face in the fashion industry and also designs a range of designer handbags called “Wek 1933″, which are available throughout selected Selfridges department stores.
In 2007, she released an autobiography, entitled Alek: From Sudanese Refugee to International Supermodel , documenting her journey from a childhood of poverty in Sudan to the catwalks of Europe.

I think Alek Wek is gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!! Her skin tone is amazing. Most people have to wear foundation to have skin that looks good. I am just happy that she doesn’t feel like she needs to wear a weave to walk outside the house and some black people are naturally skinny.

I believe that certain black people have been conditioned to compliment African continental physical features, no matter how unattractive said African is, in an attempt to fabricate so-called “blackness” as a standard of beauty. The woman is a model because she is exotic in appearance, not because she is “attractive”. One hundred years ago, the white man would brought her out on stage in chains to show off to his fellow Europeans. He cannot do that now, so he makes her a so-called “model” so that he can still trot her out on stage and ogle. Whether one finds her attractive or not is based on personal opinion, but no one is “lynched” or a “crab in a barrel” if they do not feel indebted to establish Africans as a “standard” of “black beauty”, whatever that is. Too many black people of the captivity feel this duty to exalt Africans and Africanism when Africans have never done the same in return.
