SuperModel Alek Wek was spotted leaving a birthday party earlier this week in NYC. Alek is still a very popular face in the fashion industry and also designs a range of designer handbags called “Wek 1933″, which are available throughout selected Selfridges department stores.
In 2007, she released an autobiography, entitled Alek: From Sudanese Refugee to International Supermodel , documenting her journey from a childhood of poverty in Sudan to the catwalks of Europe.

You do not have to be light skinned with long hair to be beautiful. If you wre really smart you would judge her for being a great woman who respects others. She is no Naomi Campbell but you never hear anything she has done to land her in jail like crazy ass Naomi. That what would make Alek so beautiful because she is not at all violent and respectful unlike Naomi.
If I was a white student doing research on slavery and it’s affect on African Americans I would have all the material I need here! SMH
Number “75″. Only haters call light skinned women ugly if the light skinned woman is really pretty. If a dark skinned women is pretty, she is just pretty . If she ugly she just damn ugly. Oh well, nobody should not be judging the way no one look. Because I have noticed that women who tend to call women ugly have low self esteem and does not recieve that much attention from men. So they hate. And they seem to be the not most attractive person themselves. Not trying to judge for real. Because I try to keep calling people ugly to myself even when I know this is true. I think she is a beautiful woman (i’m a little bias though b/c I think dang near all black women are beautiful-well at least the ones w/ self respect) and black women are not the only ones that wear weave..though I do deem to think that some of them take it toooo far to the extreme I know they are not the only ones to wear it.

First, let me inform you dumb African-Americans of some things, being that I am Sudanese and know first hand. First, you cannot compare Alek Wek, Iman, Liya Kebede, etc. to African American models like Tyra banks, Jessica white, etc. Alek is 100% African, she has not been diluted what-so-ever. Like someone above mentioned, yes, this is what most of you ignorant African-Americans’ ancestors looked like. Second, she is NOT pretty, and this is speaking from a completely unbiased stand point. It is a known fact that Southern Sudanese women are not attractive. What they are is tall and lean; they have amazing bodies that are ageless, graceful and perfect for the runway/high-fashion modeling. THIS is why she is so successful. In all honesty, Ethiopians and Somalians are far more beautiful, but then again, they are more often than not MIXED.

For all who label her UGLY and ASHY, you are basically labeling all other Africans from her part of the world UGLY as well..In fact since most AFRICANS are quite a darker shade, it means we are all dark and ugly as well.. Can u imagine if a native of her country were reading these comments, what they would think?..There are thousands out there to whom she is an inspiration and for you lot to be so negative, it is sad..No one seems to look past her face and actually comment on her life story and struggle, which is what makes her BEAUTIFUL..Beauty features on the inside as well as out and if you are gonna judge people by their physical appearance only, then there is something seriously wrong with all of you( But of course we all already knew that about MOST AMERICANS)…
