I guess it’s all seeming real to me now. It’s just now registering that the King of Pop is actually gone. I couldn’t imagine being a member of the Jackson family right, it would be soo hard for me to take. But I will continue to pray for their strength, and that God will be with them through their time of bereavement.

PEOPLE LIKE BILL O’REILY AND PETE KING ARE WORKING OVER TIME TRYING TO TARNISH YOUR NAME BUT THE FANS HAVE SPOKEN! YOU HAVE FANS COMING FROM TOKYO, MOSCOW, ENGLAND, AUSTRALIA, GHANA ALL OVER THE WORLD TO BE A PART OF YOUR MEMORIAL SERVICE. I’M SUPER HAPPY THAT THE FAMILY DECIDED TO BRING YOUR CASKET TO THE PUBLIC MEMORIAL. THAT WAS SO GENEROUS OF THEM TO ALLOW US THE FANS TO SAY OUR GOODBYES AND HAVE CLOSURE EVEN WHILE THEY ARE MOURNING. I WILL ALWAYS APPRECIATE THEM FOR THAT DECISION. YOU ALREADY KNOW I PLAY YOUR MUSIC ON A REGULAR BASIS. THAT WILL NOT CHANGE. I’M GLAD YOUR ALBUMS ARE #1 ON THE CHARTS AGAIN TOO. I GREW UP WITH YOU. YOU’VE BEEN A PART OF MY LIFE SINCE CHILDHOOD. NO ONE WILL EVER DO IT LIKE YOU MICHAEL. I LOVE YOU. R.I.P.

May god take you under his wings and sit you at his right hand.

I’m not going to be phony and pretend that I never laughed at a joke about Michael Jackson, or deny that I didn’t crack a few myself.

He is one of those people that I took for granted, I never expected him to pass away. For some odd reason I thought I’d never have to witness his death…I never imagined. But in his passing, I truly realize how talented he is. I see vividly how he inspired artist, and even myself. I’ll continue to dance to his music, and I only wish he could see the out pouring of love and respect.

I have so much to say but have posted on other sites so I’ll just keep it simple and short. @TR3NDSETTER101 dido- even though I was born in 1977 so I’m a little older than you but I agree with your msg.

Michael, God has called you home as he will all of us at some point and time. He called my mother two years ago also at the tender age of 50. You don’t have to worry about the pain you felt physically and mentally, no more medications etc, you can rest now. Job well done! I know you are in a better place.

We all wish this untimely incident had not occurred we wish you were still here and miss you very much. No matter what OUR wants are, GOD wanted you more, he has called you home! Take your crown and walk through those golden gates. Tell my mother I said hello!

Love you Michael Jackson- the REAL king of pop!

R.I.P Michael. Forever will you be the King of Pop and thus, forever will you live here on Earth though your spirit now dwells in serenity with God. Through your music, videos, and the numerous artists to whom you were an inspiration, you are practically immortal. No one, regardless of how talented he or she is, will ever dream to, nor will he or she ever be able to, take your place. I love you!

I’m tired of white people telling me how I felt about Michael and him changing his skin color. What most fail to relize is that the changes wasn’t about wanting to be wihite or black it was about self-loath, emptyness and not really knowing who he was a person.

I have never felt any sort of animosity towards him one way or another, and beyond love I felt/feel a great sense of sadness becasue of what his dad and the media did to him. His greatness will always be remembered and long after the media and white folks have gone on/away, we will always be in his corner providing any support needed.

I love and miss you very much Michael, may you rest in peace, condolences to your family.

May those responsible for your death be punished to the fullest extent of the law!

Glad to see Mariah wore a suitable dress for the occassion. But the voice is gone. She’s no Minnie Rippleton though she strived to be. I’m not mad at her but thank God for the studio voice.

OMG when they actually get ‘REAL’ singers they move your soul. you can feel these choirs. You feel it in your bones. MJJ cant wait to perform. We know that about him. He cant’ wait to grace the stage. This memorial is so suitable for him. His last concert but not the last we will hear of his music. God i still cant believe he’s gone.

Berry Gordy - the father of motown. MJJs surrogate father. Although Joe made it known that MJJ has only but 1 father. I love Joe Jackson. He raised a good family & a gr8 man. MJJ for those who dont know praised his father for the discipline he bestowed upon them - hardwork & dedication too. He said it was his father who told him never let your fans see you cry. MJJ said he carried the teachings of his father throughout his career. With his father’s teachings you grew to the become THE BEST ENTERTAINER EVER!!! I thank his father for that! MY condolesences to the Jackson family.

OMG Thank You Angel!!!

Brooke Shields made me cry a river. Then Jermaine sung his fave song. That was so beautiful. This is history happening now, we have lost an important part of our history.

MJJ was smarter than people thought, we as Black people know that there is no one who will care for our children like Grandparents. First Lady Michelle Obama brought her mother to the white house to care for her children and MJJ left his three children to be raised by his parents, yes his parents, not just Katherine b/c MJJ knew his father would raise them too - that’s for the naysayers.

So folks if you havent spoken to your grandparents in a while call them up and tell them u love them. I speak to my grandmother everyday several times a day!

There’s no greater love than a mothers love but arguably the next in line is the love a grandmother!

I had managed not to cry through the whole service but when his daughter started crying, I lost it. I hate to see children cry and I know if people who never even met him could feel so attached to him through his music and humanitarianism, I couldn’t imagine what his children are going through. He always spoke of his children and how much he loved to be a father so my condolences definetely go out to his family but especially his children. Now, I’ve always had my doubts about whether they were his biological children or not but regardless of if he was their biological father, it doesn’t matter. He was a parent to them and they obviously loved him and miss him very much so my heart goes out to them.

Now that Paris business had me ready to cry. This should show people that he was a real person…he wasn’t a molester and he didn’t hurt his kids or anyone elses. He was a good guy and I honestly believed that he was a kid at heart and just enjoyed helping other kids. Just think about what grown man would risk all the money and fame in the world just to ruin it by hurting children. I think that he was so devoted to helping children and people in general that he saw past the money and really looked at helping families and children (eventhough at times they took advantage of his celebrity). I think MJ wasn’t normal…but none of us are. We are all different and have our strange habits and behaviors. Its what makes us who we are and if our behaviors were broadcast for all to see we might get the same attention. At the end of the day there will only be one MJ.

Look when your music and life has touched millions of people over a 38 year span your memorial service is just a bit bigger than everybody elses.

The memorial was really good. Watched the whole thing - didn’t move from my seat. I teared up a bit during the memorial but when Paris spoke - I reallyyyy started crying.

I agree with some people when they say how now that Michael’s dead everyone wants to act like they’ve always listened to Michael and how they love him etc. I was with my friend and my mom when I found out Michael died and my friend was acting like she had been listening to Michael all her life and saying how she loved him and stuff and she didn’t even listen to his music. I know people who made fun of Michael before he died and now they’re acting like they’re sad about it and saying that people should have left him alone.. I listened to Michael’s music before he died - my dad is a musician and he would play Michael Jackson songs on his guitar when I was younger and my sister and I would dance around and sing the words to the songs - we were both born in the 90’s but we still knew every Michael Jackson song and knew all the words. I still remember the first time I watched the Thriller music video. I’ve never watched the full video since - I was so scared I didn’t watch it again. Although I know now it wouldn’t scare me (as much) I still haven’t watched it from start to finish.

I loved all the speeches - especially Brooke Shields, Rev. Al Sharpton, and Magic Johnson.

@ Kyla
Ok fair enough but you have people of ALL ages on this site. Sweetheart some of us are in our 30’s and up so yeah we have been listening to MJ all of our lives. Everybody on here didn’t JUST start listening to him so let that go. I understand your point but you are preaching to the WRONG people. Some people did make fun of him but you can’t prove it was any of the same people that are now saying they love him so just take the comments for what they are. Even if it was the same people that doesn’t mean they can’t feel bad about the man dying. Some people do have SOME compassion.

It is so hard to believe that the legacy that is Michael Jackson has left this earth. It’s just sooo hard to bare. I cant even begin to imagine what his family, friends, and children are going through right now. What an amazing and tragic loss this is. I didnt really grow up with MJ’s music but I know he will be remembered in my heart and the whole world’s heart. He is definatly a legend in the making and always will be. You never really know what you have until you lose it. I hope that Michael’s life, love, song’s, dance moves, and just himself in general will live on forever. I also hope that his love for this earth and all the children and people will give us a chance to look at ourselves and realize we do need a change. In ourselves and the earth. So thank you Michael for being the man that you were and trying to show us that we are all the same. Hopefully your presents, songs and love will help us realize that. Rest In Peace Michael. I hope you made it safely to heaven and you will be greatly, greatly missed.

i dont understand why people that dont like MJ would take time oout of their day to come on a post where his true fans are trying to remember his legacy

its just totally disrespectful

its jus like someone showin up to your memorial or talkin bout someone who just died in your own family..you all just have no respect whatsoever regardless of your beliefs..THIS POST..is not the time or the place for that…

and it pisses me off even more cuz you’re online feelin real gangsta but i seriously doubt you would have been at one of those public viewing venues talkin this mess cuz you surely wuold have been carried out in a stretcher

OMG well said, biznesswoman (#256). I’m so tired of people singin that same ol’ song. Even Michael’s career had its peeks and valleys. All celebrities have slumps, but his overall career and contributions were legendary and unmatched. So what if we weren’t bumpin his music the week before he died, we still all grew up with him, have fond memories of his music and have every right to mourn him. And if you were born in the 90s, it’s understandable that you don’t really get that.

Vox Populi... common sense isn't that common

Tuesday, July 7, 2009 /

This is gonna resonate with me for a while especially, Usher, Marlon and Paris bits. I never cried when I saw the breaking news, I never cried when they did endless tributes and flashbacks of his songs on MTV, VH1 etc, but this… is different. I can finally accept that he’s gone. :(
We ‘ve lost the ultimate icon but my heartfelt condolences go out to his beautiful kids who’ve lost their dad and his other fam who’ve lost a brother, a son, a nephew, a cousin etc.

I didn’t need to go out and buy his music again for it to b topping the music charts like it did last week or dust it from my mum and dad’s collection. His music had it’s own playlist and sat comfortably on my ipod with the Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis, VV Brown, Lionel Ritchie, Dizzee Rascal, the Beatles etc cos it was good. Simples!

RIP MJ

I just want to thank Gretta on Fox for what she had said after the Michael Jackson’s memorial service. Gretta made reference to Brook Sheilds speech where it was said that her and Michael’s relationship was an odd one, Gretta said that she is saying that reporters need not too judge, that they need to hold back off of what they say sometimes is what she essentially said. I think it was very big of her and took a real woman to say that!
And it is true from the moment we see behaviours out of the norm we automatically judge which is not very nice or right. I think we all need to put ourselves in other peoples shoes maybe the world would be a better place as Michael Jackson wanted as most of us want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Each of us have different personalities, likes, dislikes, wants, needs, personal appearance and each of us as something geeky about us… Love others, respect others, especially u all reporters!!!!!!! We are not perfect instead of trashing people try to uplift them….And this does not only mean for the moment but always please please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Gretta

The memorial service was so moving, emotional and touching, could’nt hold back the tears. Rev. Al Sharpton and Congress woman ( can’t think of her name), but they really gave Michael his accolades and totally refused to allow negativity to tarnish and diminish the astronomical accomplishments and contributions of this man’s life and his influence on the world, not just musically or the impact he had on civil rights and race relations, but his humanitarian efforts as well. Everyone who participated, was simply beautiful. Michael you are truly loved and will never be forgotten.

The Memorial Service was nice and not over the top. The fans were very respectful. JHud did good but I was hoping she sung the last song on her CD, “There’s a place in heaven prepared for me,” thats not the name of it but thats the chorus, her voice is made for true gospel music. Lionel Richie actually brought tears to my eyes, gospel songs always do. Usher did a wonderful job and it was not disrespectful of him to touch the casket (to whomever said that earlier).

Teardrops were falling when Man In The Mirror came on - cried during Jermaine performance. We are the world.Mariah performance. She had emotion

Paris - my heart goes out to her - That speech for me was heartfelt

I loved Martin Luther King 111 speech - was inspring - So was Al Sharptons. Everything he said was exact.

Michael went to soon - But his musci will love on - He is different to any other artist past/future. Because with his music- He helped others. Such samaritan. Love you Michael God bless xxx

THIS SITUATION OF MICHAEL JACKSON HAS CHANGED ME AND MADE ME A BETTER PERSON, I THINK WE REALLY NEED TO TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER INSTEAD OF MISTREATING EACH OTHER SO BAD WHILE ALIVE, WE NEED TO ACCEPT EACH OTHER UNIQUENESS AND STOP MAKING FUN OF EACH OTHER INSTEAD LETS SUPPORT EACH OTHER,LETS STOP GOING WITH THE HYPE AND BELIEVE IN THE TRUTH. WE HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT WHITE PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS GONNA TRY AND PUT US DOWN THEY DO THAT TO ALL SUCCESSFUL BLACK MAN. AND THATS WHY ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH SUCESSFULL BLACK PEOPLE IS MORE INTERESTING TO THEM THATS THE ONLY WAY FOR THEM TO DEFEAT US. THEY KNOW THAT WE ARE STRONG AND SOON WE WILL TAKE OVER THE WORLD.

IM EVEN SURPRISED THAT IM TALKING LIKE THIS IM NOT USUALLY LIKE THIS LOOSING THE KING HAS CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER. FROM NOW ON I WILL SUPPORT ALL MY PEOPLE THAT ARE TRYING TO MAKE DIFFERENCE IN LIFE AND I WON’T JUDGE U CAUSE ONLY GOD KNOW THE TRUTH!!!

HIS ONLY SIN WAS THA HE WAS TOO & PURE AND INNOCENT IN HIS WORLD HE THOUGHT EVERYONE WAS LIKE HIM BUT HAD NO IDEA HOW EVIL THE WORLD IS.

That wasn’t a memorial service–that was truly a homegoing celebration like we do in the black church. The music, the expressions, the images and the ministry of love. Even though I’ve always loved MJ, I don’t think I really appreciated him while he was alive. I’m sure many felt like that, but that doesn’t mean we couldn’t unite in grieving for him yesterday and wishing we could have him back. The funeral yesterday was a moving tribute to a man who’s heart was too big for this world and it served as a reminder to all of us to show love and appreciation to the people in your life while you still have time.
