ALBUM REVIEW: LeTOYA’s LADY LOVE
Tuesday, August 25, 2009

LeToya Luckett is back, more confident, and much more fun with her second album “Lady Love.” After dropping her self-titled debut in 2006, this time around Miss Luckett not only flexes her vocal muscles but does a good job of it—which is more than we can say for a lot of singers these days.
The biggest difference between this album and her last kicks off with the self-assured lead single “Not Anymore.” Unlike the indecisive “Torn” (from her first album) this song makes up its mind from the gate even including an ode to women empowerment and “knowing ones worth.” Penned by none other than Ne-yo (who we all know is pretty much a master at flipping a sappy break-up song and making it sassy. I mean honestly Beyonce’s Irreplaceable” and Rihanna’s “Take A Bow,” are the stuff that dreams are made of) is perfect when you’re teetering on the edge of keeping your man in your life, or kicking him to the curb where he belongs.
Another track assisting in Luckett’s bold new expression is the up-tempo “She Ain’t Got.” Despite being a little psychotic in the lyrics, Luckett shows off even more of her confidence with the hook “Who is this chick that you thinks all that? Tryna’ take you away but I ain’t having that. I’mma put my foot down on homegirl’s neck to make her see that, she ain’t got nothing on me.” We all know that a woman sure of herself and her relationship doesn’t really need to be fighting some chick too keep her man….but every once in a while we have a crazy day, so this song gets a lyrical pass for being relatable.
Luckily it’s not all about fighting your man, or leaving your man, or hitting some female with a bat over your man, on. “Lazy,” is a perfect hybrid of both the vulnerability and fear of getting into a new relationship. Other standouts include “Regret,” featuring Ludacris, which can be best paralleled to a slower version of Beyonce’s “Upgrade You.” Now I know, Beyonce and LeToya (and all the rest of Destiny’s Child) are over, so it’s not fare to compare them, but the overall concepts are close.
Aside from a couple missteps like “After Party,” which is just lame (there’s really no other way of putting it) “Lady Love” is solid attempt and has a song for everyday of your “relationship week.” It not only goes through the emotions of an up and down love story, but is original enough to dance to, giving it a few extra points on the R&B scale.
My Picks: ‘Not Anymore’, ‘She Ain’t Got’ & ‘Lazy’….I also like ‘Lady Love’….
Make sure you pick up your copy of Lady Love in stores or online today.

Just be GOOOOOOOOOD To Meeeeeeeeeeee
This track shooot way up my ranking after her belting after the bridge. QUALITY vocals on that I love the feel of this track.
The whole Album is easy on the ear…
Lady Love: Great 80’s vibe to bump ya head to.. Love the intro to the song 4/5
She Aint Got: Super crossover track which could work very well in europe and globally more so than USA. Great energy! 4/5
Not Anymore: I actually wondered why this was a single at 1st but all the catchy parts of the song made it grow on me and I appreciated the meaning of the song but not my 1st single choice. 3/5
Lazy: Out of the 1st batch of songs from the Lady Love era this one really impressed me and i was dying for it to be a single as I thought that this has a perfect blend of R&B with a Pop edge. Style of wording and strong vocals make this one of my top songs = 4.75/5
Good To Me: This suits LeToya’s voice soo well the arrangement with that “prince & dream” sound. The vocals after the bridge just made my head stand up & say DAMN!!!! LeToya has come far with full voice stamina vocals and is on full display. 5/5(vocals made this mark)
Over: Silky smooth R&B song telling it as it is if Mr. Man messes up real BAD. Very strong album track = 4.5/5
Regret: Hip-Hop/R&B fusion of Excellence as i love the attitude that L.Luck is bringing to this track. Ludacris fits this soooooooo well & brings out a hot verse. For Regretful ones, this is a punch in the face for ya’ll who “still tryin to get back” lol = 4.75/5
I Need A U: Sensual, sexual, sexy, tingling, soothing, smooth, satisfying, deep, yearning, steamy, fulfilling. This is not only to describe the song, but to also compliment how GREAT LeToya’s voice sits on the song YUMMY DESSERT. 5/5
Take Away Love: Love the mood of the beat as another old school 80/90’s soul vibe with that hint of bluesy/jazz. UK’s own Estelle adds her Hip-Hop swagger on the track as well as giving Lady Elle some good advice. ‘Toya sings so smoothy in her comfort zone and just sounds in her element showing off her range in a relaxed manner. Very cool album track = 4.5/5
After Party: Hot vibes and feel good track to jam to. 3.75/5
Drained: Commercial friendly track which compliments the albums direction. It also treats the newer pop fans with this type of song and gives a more verstaile side of LeToya in a different way to the standard R&B. 3.5/5
Tears: BIG!! LeToya took this track up to different levels with the harmonies, vocal arrangements and takes this way past the Asia Cruise version.
Vocals are very much settled to effectively shine on the song and nothing is overdone which makes this a Hot R&B track which just flows to pleasure us fans. 5/5
Matter: LeToya blended her writing skills very well with Marsha Ambrosius on this songs. Silky smooth R&B album filler with pretty vocals and runs. 4/5
Love Rollercoaster: Cool Mims track with Toy adding her sweetness and swagger onto the track..
No sure y its on the album but the more the better lol. 3.5/5
Dont Need U: Strong pop/rnb song with big vocals and a display being strong willed. 4.5/5
Swagger: Love when LeToya does some H-Town hip hop styled tracks and still loving this track. Lady Love season started with this buzz track. “it’s the T-O-Y-A everybody knows”. 4/5
GROWTH IS SUPER & VOCALLY WAY ABOVE 1ST ALBUM THIS IS A HOT & SOLID Album & Worth It..

Pleasantly surprised by this one. I thought this would be more pop but it fits really well in the R&B pocket. I can appreciate that she chose not to hide behind the prodcution and make her voice the focus of this album. Two stand-out tracks that aren’t singles are “Over ” & “Tears”. “Afterparty,” &”Drained,” seem unnecessary. “Good To Me” may have to grow on me though. Overall it’s a solid album.

I tried to order the CD on Bestbuy’s website, but it’s listed as “backordered”, I hope that is a good sign.
So, I downloaded it from itunes, and got an extra song. I wanted to have the physical copy deliverered to my house. I guess I’ll have to go out and get one from the store now.. lol
As for my review of the album. I listened to the whole thing. WOW… WOW… WOW… WAYYYY better than I thought it would be. I liked her last album, but this album is much better. She is indeed more confident, and it shows in her vocals for sure.
Toya is really telling different stories of love and pain on this album. REAL R&B. Go GET THIS ALBUM!!!!

V. Good Album and definately a hot R&B album..
It’s good to see great R&B coming back like Ginuwine’s album & Now This Lady Love
This is a big step up from debut album which was cool back in 06 reppin her H-Town..
Loving Obvious, This Song . No More, So Special All Eyez & Gangsta Grillz.
Singing much more purely this time with less accent twag in her voice. Belting is on point.
I find it funny how Not Anymore is not even in my top five on this album but hopefully they recover from that and get Regret & mayb Lazy as next couple singles.
Good To Me, Regret, Tears, Lazy, Over I Need A U & Lady Love My Top fav’s but album very well put together

People have the tendency to overlook LeToya’s music because everyone is too busy paying attention to that other member of the now defunct girl group Destiny’s Child (what’s her name… Beyonce, I think hehe). Her first album was a solid effort and a good introduction to what she is capable of, even if all the songs weren’t great. Now, with some more experience under her belt Letoya doesn’t fall victim to the sophomore slump. Yeah, there are 15 tracks, but it’s not about quantity over quality. The production values are great, and LeToya’s singing ability has definitely grown over time. Whether she’s showin’ her “hood” side on tracks like “She ain’t got” or tellin her lover what it is she needs on slow jams like “Good to me”, the album shines. Every hip hop and R&B enthusiast is sure to find something they like on this album. It’s doesn’t hurt that she’s such a pretty girl, too. Give this album a chance and you won’t regret it!

“Lady Love”? Very interesting title. I wonder if she is subliminally speaking about l*sbianism? I see that she has the egg-shaped earrings on in honor of the love goddess Ishtar and she has her arms crossed in honor of the god Osiris and her spiritual transformation. I’m guessing based on all that, that “Lady Love” will be her “alter-ego” (the name of her demon) like “Sasha Fierce”.

They are similar in lyrical content, basically of how they splurge on their man..
LeToya talk’s about when he was with her she was icing his wrist, giving him swag, buying him a car and such. Kinda like the things Bey mentioned in her song.

Listening to it on itunes right now…
Still torn about it. She stepped it up. Songs are catchy….
I dunno…she just screaming a lil too much song after song. Like even on slow songs, her voice is ready to fight somebody….
Strange coz she was always soft with it. It needs a balance. Scream on some, whisper on smooth tracks.
Dunno still like it though. Lots of good tracks. A rarity in todays game even with big artists.

While on the debut album LeToya let us know she was that “H-town chick” by using H-town Rappers and H-town production to convey that southern confidence (swagger if you will), on “Lady Love” she does no such thing. Instead, she opts to convey that swagger solely through her lyrics and vocal execution. “Lady Love” finds LeToya as “swagger” made flesh; confidence epitomized.
From the opening song all the way to the last, we are taken on a journey through all the ups & downs, and ins & outs of Love. I am actually surprised at some of the various perspectives LeToya takes with this album. Lady Love is a true R&B album with just a sprinkling of pop added for good measure. Lyrically the album is brutally honest and well constructed; vocally LeToya sounds better than she ever has, the growth is astounding; conceptually she thoroughly explores all the different tenets of Love.
The first single “Not Anymore” was not strong enough to be a single at all. A single is a song that is a standalone hit; however, within the context of the album “Not Anymore” fits perfectly. It serves a very specific role; it enables the story to further progress. It acts as a nice bridge that guides you to the more important and more interesting sites.
Thankfully, this album is replete with great material. There really is no need to skip anything. It has been awhile since an album that is capable of playing in its entirety has been on the scene. Initially when I learned that LeToya’s sophomore album would deal extensively with the subject of “love”, I assumed it would be slow and boring. While there are times when LeToya slows it down, it is NEVER boring. As a vocalist, LeToya shines her brightest on mid-tempos and ballads, as all true vocalists do. Songs like “Regret”, “Over”, and “I Need A U” find LeToya in rare form, and showcase some of the finest vocals on the album.
On the up-tempo side, “Lady Love” “Drained” and “After Party” display LeToya’s newfound ability to ad-lib effortlessly over intricate beats. It takes a certain level of confidence to handle an up-tempo in the proper manner, but as I told you, LeToya is confidence incarnate! Her conviction is astounding throughout this album; particularly impressive on the up-tempos. There are those who would argue that there aren’t “enough” up-tempos on this album but its quality over quantity. While there are only a handful of records classified as “up-tempo” present on Lady Love, they are all stellar. They serve their purpose excellently, and for that, I am content. She even manages to throw in the track “Swagger” as a bonus, which adds one more up-tempo for the dance floors.
The centerpiece of the album is the song “Tears”. The arrangements are reminiscent of the vocal intricacy found on “Full Moon” or “Aaliyah”. The song is a pulsating, intense, sexually charged record that takes the album to the next level. There are varying layers of vocals and harmonies laced throughout, and yet LeToya still manages to make it all cohesive. It would be regrettable if it were not a single in the future.
Overall, this is a very solid album. LeToya has shown exponential growth both vocally and qualitatively. “Lady Love” is a much more mature effort than the debut; it’s appeal is broader than that of “LeToya” as well. Fans will definitely be pleased, but more importantly, those who didn’t give LeToya a chance the first time around, will most assuredly check her out now. The inclusion of the song “Love Roller Coaster” may seem strange to some, but that song accurately sums up the entire “Lady Love” experience, “It goes up and down and around and ’round, it goes up and down, around and ’round and ’round and ’round we go!” Oh but what a journey it is!!
One of the albums of 2009; easily.

Wow, that’s the first word that comes to mind after listening to this cd from end to end 3 or 4 times non stop. This may be the best R&B album of the year. From beginning to end, every track is well written, well produced and of course courtesy of Letoya excellantly performed.
There are so many great songs I don’t even know if I should even list the best tracks, but the ones I have to listen to on repeat constantly are Lazy, Over, Regret, Tears, Take Away Love, and Matter.
She has something for everyone on this cd, from slow jams, to women’s anthems, to songs for the fellas, and club joints. If this album is promoted correctly it could be huge success for the H-Town Chick. Kudos!

Letoya Luckett came out of the gate “swing batta batta” at her competition! I picked up Lady Love early this morning…like 9:30am and so far I AM LOVING THIS ALBUM!!! I really liked her debut album, Letoya, but it pales in comparison to Lady Love. This time around Letoya is really showing her range and versatility as an artist! Some of my favs are Take Away Love, Lazy, Matter, and Not Anymore. The whole album is really good!!! I smell another plantinum album, Ms. Luckett!!!

“Lady Love” is Letoya’s nickname not no damn Alter-Ego, get real Judah.
I will be getting the album ASAP. I love “Regret” way better than Kelly’s “Ghetto”, and does not remind me of Bee’s “Upgrade You” just an excuse to throw her name in the review IMO.
And the title song “Lady Love” is AMAZING! Great throwback! “Lazy” is Great as is “Dont Need U”. And “She Ain’t Got…” is highly underrated. Thats all I have heard so far Aside from “Not Anymore” which was an okay single, itsjust now getting heavy airplay where I live.

That would have been a perfect review except for the mention of Beyonce and DC. It’s pretty damn clear to me that LeToya has earned the right to be just that, LETOYA!!!!!
I LOVE the album and would purchase it even if it wasn’t hot, because of how bad she was done by Matthew Knowles. But they say success is the best revenge so LeToya, I hope you’re basking in it now!!!
GREAT photos and album!!!

Letoya ’s album will prove to be a success by the most traditional and most old fashioned of ways, through word of mouth.
99% of the reviews from the people who bought the album love it, and deem it one of if not the best R&B album of the year… That says a lot.
If the people who got and love the album get people they know to go buy the album, like we all did years ago when a good album came out, then Letoya’s album will be a true success. SCREW the label’s lack of promotion.
We, her fans can do this!!!!!
Get the album!!!!
You won’t “Regret” it!

I just bought Letoya’s album. Great album from start to finish! I love dam near every song! Letoya went grown and sexy on us without all of that pop music like the other members of DC. She’s the only artist I know that has mature from her freshmen cd to her sophmore cd. She also is the only one who is staying real to what has gotten her here (R&B). This is the best female cd of the year. To bad BET,MTV, and the others are going to overlook her for the regulars. She may not sell like the regulars but her cd is awesome 4.5/5.

I purchased her album this morning and I must tell you, it’s absolutely amazing!!!! I did not buy the first cd although, I did like the song “Torn” to be honest, I just never paid much attention to her seeing as though, out of all the Destiny’s Child members, I was only checking for Beyonce who seems to constantly be the best promoted artist out.(Hell I loveeee Kelly Rowland but couldn’t even bring myself to purchase hers) Anyhow, I heard a few previews and was impressed enough to go buy it on the exact release date (Aug 25th) today. I have not taken that cd out at all..It really can be left to play all the way through without skipping songs which really is very rare now-a-days…The production on the album is great and I enjoy the lyrics. My faves on the album are: “Lady Love” “She aint got” “Not anymore” “Lazy” “Good to me” “Over” “I need a u” “Tears” and “Dont need u” If you are still on the fence about this one…take it from me, you will not be disappointed!!!!… Much success Toya, this album got you a newfound fan!!!….

WOW!
This is the 1st time atleast 95% of the comments of an artist’s album is positive.
I am not surprised. The album is dope and flows from start to finish.
Just read the comment comparing a track on this to ‘fullmoon’ and ‘Aaliyah’ but I think on the real, it’s the 1st time in ages an album’s whole concept flows freely like we have seen on ‘fullmoon’ and ‘Aaliyah’
People just stack songs from here and there together nowadays on an album trying to please every tom dick and harry. Toya is cleverly asserting her image, persona and identity on this album. She knows who she is and she has delivered that to us.
Now if the damn record labels eff this ish up with the wrong promotion or lack thereof…
Toya better bring it live.

If she doesn’t get any Grammy nods this time…SOMETHING is gravely WRONG with the industry.
I really hope her insisting on dropping 8/25 will prove to be valuable (she barely made the Grammy deadline). I REALLY hope she gets the recognition at this years award ceremony.

Yes I will be getting it!!! She sounds great and we have some true R&B with this one. I haven’t bought an album in a while that I can listen to from beginning to end without skipping several songs but this one you won’t have to skip over anything. The girl continues to work, can’t hate on that.

I need her and her team to promote the hell out of this album. Especially given that Whitney comes out next week. This is the time for her and her team to make a statement to the world that she can hold her own and is her own person and not just a “former member” but a bonafide solo artist. I need to see and hear her on all kinds of shows in the weeks and months to come.
Quality music strictly on this album. Like most of the other comments and reviews have stated this album is a very decent/exceptional effort musically.
I haven’t heard an R&B albumn from a female album this pleasing to my ears from start to finnish in a very long time. It seems that everyone throws “singles” (or garbage) on an album in hopes of gaining airplay, sales etc. Or veer off into “popular sounds at the time. This seems more genuine. It showcases both her talent, growth. I hope that she has been working on her stage performance to take her career to the next level with the complete package.
Mad Props LeToya!!!

Soo after reading all the comments on here about her album I decided to listen to all of the songs and like a few of them. I can’t really listen to a song once and like it right away - I usually have to listen to it 2-3 times (unless it’s like hip hop and the beat is really good I can get into it) until I start liking it so that’s why I don’t like every song on the album. The songs I do like are:
- Not Anymore; Looove this song. The first 3 times I heard it on tv I hated it but I love it now and I’m always singing it.
- Over; Pretty good
- Regret; I only like Luda’s part though.
- I Need A U; I really like this song.
- Drained; I’m feeling this one
- Tears; Like it
- Love Rollercoaster; I loooove LeToya’s parts
- Lazy; Not the best song but I like it cause I can relate
So I like 8 songs on the album and I’m pretty sure if I listened to the rest of the songs more than once I’d love all of them. Really hope this album does well, I like LeToya.

Okay, I love the album! Let me just say that! I’m jus so excited for her. I went to watch her on Twitter LIVE last nite and she’s jus so humble and REALLy appreciates her REAL FANS! And thats what I love so much about her. She also mentioned the lack of PROMO for this album as well, but she said at the end of the day its being released and its for her fans so that made her happy.
GOOD TO ME is my fav rite now! She KILLS it! Also Tears…After Party…is NOT lame! Its a feel good song! I just love Toya…and I really hope people go out and support….she worked really hard and its her best material to date! SOOO MUCH BETTER THAN THE FIRST ALBUM! I’m jus so proud of her.
LaTavia loves the album too..she was live with her on Twitter and she was beggin Toya for a copy! lol…its so good to see those two still close as ever. Can’t wait for Tavia’s book! Suppose to be JUICY!
And to haters..TRUST ME its worth the buy..its a great R&B album. It kills me how peeps keep sayin its TOO SLOW but if she would have came with club bangers then the complaint would have been ITS TOO HOOD! So watever..there’s never any pleasing people. Hate it or Love it…Toya is here to STAY!

I bought the album from itunes this afternoon, and I finally got a chance to listen to the whole album after the busy day I’ve had and I have to say I love the album. Every track is banging with the exception of a few tracks that I just think are ok. My absolute favorites right now are Regret (I had that ish on repeat quite a few times tonight and Luda killed the feature), Lazy, Love Roller Coaster, Over, and even the bonus track from itunes Don’t Let Me Get Away is great. LeToya did just what I wanted : make a genuine R&B album. By genuine I mean one that is not thrown together and not chasing these silly music trends like auto tune. This is an album I can bump from years from now and will not sound out dated. Good job LeToya on another solid album!

Never paid the girl much attention and I friend came running to me saying “I HAD TO HEAR THIS ALBUM” and I gave it a listen. As a musician trained in Opera and classically trained on the piano, she earned my support on her musicianship alone. The lyrical content and vocal harmonies and unique soprano flair of her voice blew me away. I will purchase this album at my first opportunity and would urge anyone who wants a quality to do the same. Best R&B album of the year

agreed! it’s like a mini promotion article cause i feel like most people are exaggerating a lil with their reviews. those of you getting mad at people who think some songs remind them of others, please stfu. we’re all entitled to our opinions. they all copy each other in the music industry so the likelihood of two songs having similar lyrics/beat is expected. regardless though, her album is pretty good, not as amazing as people are making it sound, but i like it. i hope she makes it far this time around.

^^^ Are you talking about the “Regret” “Upgrade U” comparison? I’m a fan of LeToya and Beyonce…but I honestly don’t see it. Sorry. They are coming from two completely different angles. Beyonce WANTS to lavish him with gifts, and LeToya is saying “damn don’t you miss it”….lol.
Other than talking about material things, and adding a rap feature….they aren’t that similar. Not even musically. Just another cheap shot at LeToya, by comparing her to Beyonce. Yall need to let..it…go! The girls are over it, yall should be too….lol.

lol @ Ashanti name comin up.. I’m sorry but I’ll be laughin about that all day.. I have no further comment on that one..
This album is asolutely amazing though.. It’s just a particular TYPE of R&B that LeToya is delivering is appealing to people who love mature sounds, but also like a lil street flair, a little fun. Very much like Brandy and Aaliyah would do.. Even Monica. Bran, LiLi, and Mo found the perfect balance between pop and R&B, and most importantly found their own SOUND and delivered cohesive efforts time after time. Toya even dedicated her album to Aaliyah on U-stream the night before last because she realized what she brought to the game and to honor her on the day she passed.
No, I doubt these comments are fake or whatever.. Her album really is that good. I’m copping mine after work today!
And I guess we cant really say anything about bringing Whatsherface’s name up because Angel did it (unnecessarily I might add).. Luckily people are staying on topic and ignoring the foolishness.

I am so pleased with the positive comments about LeToya’s album. Listening to it right now…VERY GOOD. I am one the like vocals and not screaming!!! And Toya knows her range and stays there…pushing her self just enough. You can tell that her control and pure vocal ability have progressed. Very nice tunes…catchy lyrics…

I thought this was being over hyped BUT i decided too give it a chance.
What really impressed me about this is that there are alot of tracks and the album is really consistant where u barely skip tracks.
She may not have the biggest voice but she definately knows how to channel her voice on making a really tight album.
Alot of albums been dissapointing and too poppy so i’m thankful this is 95% R&B with a few pop records inputted.
Keri & LeToya’s are the only albums by women i could play from start to finish this year.
Well Done LeToya on creating a hot album

I agree with the posters who are saying “Regret” doesn’t embody or remind them the least bit of “Upgrade U.” They are two completely different songs, and not just because of who sang each of them!
To me, “Upgrade U” is saying you see how I can be like you (a dude) and floss and spend, so know I don’t need you in the end, but look how great I look on your arm-we look good together and compliment each other well, both visually and financially.
While to me “Regret” was saying, you done fucked up now, I hooked your (broke) ass up, gave u A, B, and C… and you didn’t respect it enough to where Id be happy. So look at what your missing out on now.
I also don’t hear similarities in the beat either! So yeah could use some more clarification of how those two songs, are similar.
And yeah I agree, coulda did without bringing up beyonce’s name when mentioning Ne-Yo, it would have been better to say ‘Ne-Yo who was responsible for “Irreplaceable” and “Take A Bow” which were classics.’ I mean to each their own, but I just see that people know what artists you’d be talking about from the songs, they were big songs, by a known song writer… I almost see it as a diss to LeToya cause out of them three songs, hers was the ONLY one not to go number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Regardless, “She Ain’t Got…” is a hot song, Cory Bold did wonders with producing it, I don’t understand with all of its crossover appeal it still isn’t charting. Hmmm.

I must admit this album definately surpassed my expectations. LeToya definately went and got those vocals together (CIARA TAKE NOTES PLEASE) Live she definately gotten better, and I appreciate the growth. My favorite song is absolutely LAZY that song is the ish. Overall Im deeply impressed by the writing, production, and most importantly her voice. Sometime in the world of R&B/POP the artist lean on their lackluster vocals and not try to get better, LeToya did the complete opposite. Her last album for me lacked vocal ability which made it take up space on my iPod but now Im on her like The Hambergular on Christina Millian. Toya you def get 4/5 stars for this one- you lose one star for having a song on your album that aint got nothing to do with you. LOL Still stunning - She definately needs to be nominated for a Grammy this year

Beautiful pics, nice voice….but definitely the Sophomore slump. No vocal variety, no exciting production like on the previous album, and the lyrical content was … very simple, elementary, and repetitive. It got boring quick.

POBOI, how can you say she showed no vocal variety? There were songs where she belted, and others where she sang with completely different inflections in ther voice. Case in point, “I Need a U” vs. “She Aint Got…” or “Lazy” vs. “Over”.
As far as the content being elementary, with this album she ventured into a more adult realm singing about sex which she chose not to do with the first album in such an overt fashion. Not only that, but she has songs expressing a plethora of different experiences with love from the pain one feels with the loss of a love, the celebration of having someone good, to yearning for someone you don’t have.
While I respect your opinion, I can’t agree with you, and based on what you wrote you either didn’t listen to the album or you are simply a HATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO GET TOYA’s ALBUM… IT’s HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TOYA 09

Its no surprise that a few haters would come ALL THE WAY BACK TO THIS THREAD, just to call her a “flop”…..hilairous, lmao So what? The sales aren’t predicted (<–keyword) to be high, but the quality of the album speaks for itself.
She might get the last laugh come Grammy 2010….she made the deadline, so hopefully she’ll get shown some love. She definitely deserves it.
And the HitsDailyDouble figures were PROJECTIONS….based on first-day sales. And she was NOWHERE to be seen on national TV on the first day. So of course the projection would be low.

Lady Love is a very good cd. “Afterparty” is not a misstep. The entire cd is good and she deserves for it to sell. It is well put together and truly–we can support her. It really isn’t a crime, in fact nobody will go to jail if they don’t mention Beyonce or Destiny’s Child. Letoya Luckett has been associated with that in a long while… Her lyrical content is better than Beyonce’s-if you mention anything, discuss that!
