Billboard announced Wednesday that multi award-winning artist and emerging icon Beyoncé will accept its coveted Woman Of The Year Award at the 2009 Billboard Women In Music Event, taking place on October 2nd in New York City.
The award is given to a trailblazing female recording artist that has inspired the music business with her success, leadership and new ideas. The honor also acknowledges the achievements of the artist over the past 12 months.
“Beyoncé is multi-platinum artist and a multi-talented woman who clearly embodies the qualities of excellence and achievement that the Billboard Woman Of The Year Award was created to honor. She has not only influenced pop culture with her hit songs and signature dance moves, but has inspired women everywhere with her unique style, business savvy and dedication to charitable causes,” said Bill Werde, Billboard’s Editorial Director.
“It is an honor to be named Woman of The Year by Billboard,” said Beyoncé. “I am humbled by this award.”

Beyonce and her dad put her B’day album on iTunes the same day LeToya Luckett put her album on there to clash sales. Beyonce was the one who was supposed to release her B’Day album a year later, but when she found out Janet Jackson was releasing an album, she bumped it up a year a month after Janet released hers to create some competiion! Beyonce has been sued for Baby Boy and one of her songs on that B’Day Delux album, I can’t remember the name, she lied about co writing on the DC albums… she prposely outshined herself from the group and had a nerve to get back with DC and was the cause for the breakup… this woman is very deceiving, greedy, and manipulative. Plus, she’s extremely manufactured and raunchy. She gets away with shaking her a** in videos like video hos because she wears designer clothes and is seen as “classy”… I can’t stand everything about this woman.
I’m so sick of this chick… there are way more talented and more beautiful women out there… If my girl Aaliyah were still here blessing us w/her presence, this bitch would have nothing to say.. Aaliyah was a class act.. she ain’t.

I can beleive Matthew said Latoya can’t perform if Bey come. Think about it Bey hadn’t seen her in years. Matthew didn’t know if Latoya was going to get off into that ass. What I dont understand, is how some of you think the ENTIRE world agrees with you when you say that I am…Sasha Fierce sucked. That album (which, even I admit is not my favorite) attracted a COMPLETELY different fan base for her, and that is considered a success for an artist that’s been in the game for over a decade. I have older white ladies at my job gushing to me about Beyonce because of that damn album. I know that’s hard to swallow for people that HATED the album, but not everyone has the same opinion. Beyonce will never give us another Dangeously In Love, we should just accept that. To be honest, I didnt become a Beyonce fan until B’day (which more people hated)…so it is what it is.
Beyonce works hard. Even if you hate her, you cant deny that she doesnt work hard. The music industry is a game. It’s a battle. Some people win (Beyonce, Rihanna, Lady Gaga) and some people lose (Ashanti, Amerie, Fefe Dobson, and Letoya). And some people simply choose not to play it at all (Erykah, Jill Scott) . But Beyonce DOES play it. And lucky for her, she plays it well.
When Beyonce sat down with her daddy to decide what she wanted to be, she said she wanted to be like Diana Ross. So that’s the mold that was created for her. Lead member of a girl group that rose to solo fame. She sings, she dances, she acts. But she also took it to the next level. There will be someone else who comes along that wants to be like Beyonce, and will do it better for her.
(and when that happens–YEARS from now, everybody will say the new person is a copy of Bey)
