MTV has announced that JAY-Z and Lady Gaga will join the list of VMAs performers. Jay-Z, a “Best Male Video” and “Best Hip Hop” nominee for “D.O.A (Death of Auto-Tune),” will hit the stage to perform a song from his highly anticipated upcoming album The Blueprint III.
International sensation Lady Gaga, known for her over the top live performances and fashion forward will perform something from her multi-platinum debut album, The Fame. Gaga was nominated 9x this year including, “Video of the Year.”
FANTASIA BACK IN THE STUDIO
According to reports, “Fantasia plans to record her third CD the old-fashioned way. Fantasia likes the live sound from older albums, before technology changed the way they were recorded. She says she’s invited an orchestra to be in the studio to back her up when she sings.
The songs she’s been writing reflect the pain she experienced last year. She says she “went through a lot of things, business-wise, relationship-wise.”
Fantasia will also be starring in her upcoming VH1 reality show, expected to premiere sometime next year.
MARIAH & AMERIE PUSH BACK ALBUMS
According to new reports both Amerie and Mariah Carey have pushed their albums back, yet again.
Mariah’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel will now arrive two weeks later on September 29th. This is the second delay for Mariah’s 12th studio album.
Amerie, on the other hand has pushed her album from September to November. We recently posted her latest song, “Heard ‘Em All” (click here to check it out). On the new date, Amerie said this: “Very happy w/my album date! Got the one I wanted,” she tweeted. “So I’m officially putting it out there: In Love & War — November 3, a special date…”
Can’t wait for Fantasia’s new album! Love that girl!
Okay, now when I see BS, I’ve got to call it… Jay Z nominated for Best Male and Best Hip Hop for “DOA,” puhfuckinleeze…I’m so sick of MTV’s non-video playing station kissing Jay Z’s ass like they did with “99 Problems,” which he only won that award bc he claimed he was “retiring.”
Seriously, the only people who should be nominated are people who nationally and internationally have overwhelming appeal. Sorry, but “DOA,” is boring as hell, contrived and nothing but an arrogant, hater ass song from Jay Z, cuz he’s mad he didn’t think of using auto-tune first.
I could see if this was Jay Z’s material from the late 90′s and even American Gangster album, which is when you see him at his best. But this mediocre stuff he’s putting out like “DOA” is just not worthy of these accolades. Honestly, can you say that no matter where you go in this country that you hear “DOA” bumping in people’s cars, requested in the club or people raving about it?
VMA’s is not even a real award show anymore, no real competition of those who are currently truly excelling. Just pomp and circumstance mostly, the same ole’ shit.
Now as for Lady Gaga, say what you want, but that chick is killing it all around the world and she’s doing it without having to be cute. Her lyrics are catchy and crafty, the beats are crisp and sound great on a booming system, overall Lady Gaga is keeping music fun. What I like about her is that she started underground and did her grassroots hustle in this biz for a few years before she went mainstream, not to mention she penned some of the biggest hits for other female artists.
And poor Amerie…I’ve dealt with her in the past and I really like her, she’s sincere and won’t kiss ass and sell out like the other chicks, she actually has a real life and limits as to what she’ll do to make it in this industry. Her biggest setback was her former producer Rich Harrison selling her out and giving tracks and the “DC go-go” signature that were supposed to be for her, to Beyonce. Lately, Amerie’s sound and packaging has been lackluster, personally I think she needs to fire her management team and start fresh before it’s a wrap.
I wish Fantasia all the best, she really deserves it.
I love Mariah, but for some reason it just seems she’s currently making music for the wrong reasons. She’s hands down one of the best singers ever to exist, but lately she’s not demonstrating that.

Um @ 55, Jay Z’s not an OG he’s just a tired old ass rapper who’s past his prime. And since you’re in DC which is the south (I lived there for 6 years) and is below the Mason Dixon line you should know people born and raised in DC have southern accents much like that of rappers from GA and LA…and many a New Yorker has a strong ass accent that does not qualify as good or standard english so your point is totally wrong…didn’t work…didn’t make sense, LOL
