The package is pretty and and I’m not looking for a message. It’s nothing but pure entertainment for me. I don’t go around analyzing everything in a song or video. For pure entertainment, this video and the song satisfy me. Bad Habits is a great song and the video is great as well. Some people get to overally sensitive about everything.
I guess I’m sensitive because Black women aren’t marrying….this acceptance of cheating as entertainment sort of mirrors what’s happening in our marriages.
Maybe if our families were stronger….or if our women were viewed as more desirable mates instead of bed fellows….I would view this differently.
How about a strong Black husband as entertainment?

As long as my opinions are with the guidelines it is quite acceptable to post my opinions about an artist’ work. I ‘ve seen numerous post about Beyonce’s oversexed images, Ciarra’s dance moves, “birthday sex” and others.
Each time an adult usually posted their discontent about these images and messages.
Sorry if my post causes you to think about the stereotypical -Black men can’t commit image -portrayed by Maxwell in his video “Bad Habits” and “Pretty Wings.”
Contrary to most opinions expressed here, most Black men do not cheat.
This video’s content is no better than any of the other played out overly sexed images that the adults complained about in regards to the young people.
I keep seeing the phrase- good music- and -grown folks music. There are still plenty of artist that write and perform but have not compromised their values.
If this artist wants to go against the trend…why not show a good married sex…or a committed married Black man. Now that would be rare.
Also… studies show that married sex has a higher rate of satisfaction than unmarried sex.

It’s weird how you go from praising the song and video saying they’re “hot… smoking!” to condemning it for portraying sex and a cheating man. The truth is that people – both men and women – have been having sex and being unfaithful for decades, and have been singing about it too. It’s nothing new or special, really. So why get on Maxwell’s case? Condemn everyone, not just him.
Difference between the two songs: Birthday Sex is about, well, birthday sex. Bad Habits is about unfaithfulness. I think Bad Habits is a better song musically, and its lyrics deal with emotions as well as lust. It will probably be remembered longer than Birthday Sex because of that.
And don’t say Maxwell can do better, because he has made songs about sex and only sex in the past. This kind of music from him is pretty much expected, but he gives it a classy touch, as opposed to a lot of today’s music. I’d say in this area he’s one of the better ones.
This album is the only album I’ve ever preordered from iTunes. And it didn’t disappoint. Finally, good music. The video’s cool. I didn’t notice the red/white contrast, but that’s very interesting. And Kerry looks gorgeous.

Sex and unfaithfulness have been around since humans existed – and for decades, people have been singing about them. Why get on Maxwell’s case for portraying these things? They’re a part of life, and music represents life.
The song is very different from Birthday Sex. Jeremih’s song is about, well, birthday sex. Bad Habits deals not only with the act of infidelity, but the emotions that go along with it. People can identify with that. It’s also a much better song musically, so I think it’ll probably be remembered longer. But, if your issue is infidelity, then you’d probably prefer Birthday Sex to this song.
And don’t say Maxwell can do better: he’s made songs about sex and only sex in the past, though in my opinion he gives it a classier feel.
I can see where you’re coming from, but there are many factors that cause infidelity in black relationships and the unmarriedness of black women, and I don’t think music is one of them. Getting rid of all music about sex and infidelity won’t get rid of the problem – there are other things to be addressed that have much more bearing on the relationship between black men and women. Musicians puts infidelity on a stage, but that act in itself doesn’t result in infidelity. They wouldn’t sing about it if it didn’t already happen, right?

I’m so sick of the high and mighty people that come on this site preaching. If you don’t like the message don’t buy the CD. Whether you like it or not infidelity is a reality. It happens everyday. Your significant other may be with someone else right now for all you know. Maxwell is giving you one point of view. If you want to hear music that doesn’t deal with this subject matter go listen to some gospel music. If you choose to listen to secular music you may as well get used to hearing about sex, cheating, lust, ect. It happens.
Love him hands down! I love everything he does. He is one of those few artists that take the time to make “music” He pays attention to the lyrics, and everything. One of my favorite songs from the Embrya album : Luxury cococure! That song is bananas. He says “Drive me crazy ooh baby

No one said cheating doesn’t exist or that Maxwell caused cheating. Please reread my post. You will find detail cheating instances in the scriptures.
I also broke down the comparisons of the marital bed and the cheating bed portrayed in the video. Why is the heat and fire centered around infidelity? I honestly thought the song was about a married couple.
My biggest complaint is that this video is a very old stale message. Am I missing something or is this the theme of this album.
Cheating seems to be the norm within our community as we have very low rates of marriage in our community, so a video that portrays infidelity is not artistic or new.
A video about great married sex among Black couples would be artistic as it does not currently represent our relationships.
He can do better. We should ask for better.
