Mariah Carey premieres her first “official” single from her forthcoming twelfth studio album, Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel.
Interestingly enough, “Obsessed” didn’t perform as well as they thought it would on the charts, which is why the Tricky Stewart-produced cover off Foreigner’s hit single was put out as the “official” single.
Memoirs, although it has been pushed back a few times, will hit stores and online September 29th.

obsessed is number 11 on the hot 100 and it isnt doing well? really? wow.
anyway i think the song is cool, her voice sounds great on it. the song kinda ends too soon though. i think its crazy how the same people that wanted her to return to these type of ballads and vocal arrangements are coming against this song. i really dont get it.

Well I LOVE her vocals in the beginning of the song– you start to feel like you’ve got the old Mariah back but even with all the engineering they did towards the end you can hear her voice breaking and cutting off…surprisingly she can still hit the high notes pretty well but her rifts in her natural voice sound a little ragged to me.
I was feeling “Obsessed.” If that couldn’t get the job done, then this certainly will not, either.

I’m glad Mariah actually singing and not doing gimmicks like other artists.
This still doesn’t hold a candle to the original. Also, if this does become a single, I will love to die of laughter of her struggling to sing it live like the days of We Belong Together circa 2005.
@ 11 I mean it’s not performing as well as her prior album bangers I think was more appropriate. Don’t give CL all that LOL. We all know when Mariah comes out, her single is getting mad airplay and is destine to reach No. 1 or be in the top tier of the Top 100. This one has had a VERY slow climb. I don’t think this album will do well though, you can already tell.

Her voice is not what it used to be. She needs to take some time off and let her voice rest. But she still sounds better than a lot of these other pop tarts out here.
