Mariah Carey premieres her first “official” single from her forthcoming twelfth studio album, Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel.
Interestingly enough, “Obsessed” didn’t perform as well as they thought it would on the charts, which is why the Tricky Stewart-produced cover off Foreigner’s hit single was put out as the “official” single.
Memoirs, although it has been pushed back a few times, will hit stores and online September 29th.

i agree Mariah’s live vocals are nowhere nearly as pure as those of her previous years. but say what you want about her only being a studio singer…..at least she’s capable of bringing it.
and for the person who said she’s not belting (and the production is done in such a way to hide it)….the first “choir” of voices you hear (2nd chorus, if i’m not mistaken)….has Mariah’s vocals all up & through it (a la her Music Box days). so how u dewin’?

I simply love Mariah’s version of this song. I also enjoy Foreigner’s version as well. She did an excellent job on this remake. It may not be everyone’s taste, but I can’t complain. I can’t wait to hear Whitney’s new album too. These two women’s voices have matured so naturally they are not going to sound the same. I appreciate the fact that they are still in the game with the lesser talented young female singers, with the exception of Beyonce who I can see being around as long as Mariah and Whitney.
