Former Atlanta Falcons Pro Bowl quarterback Michael Vick has signed a 2-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, ESPN reports. The Eagles will hold a news conference on Friday morning to announce his signing.
Once the highest-paid player in football, Vick was sentenced to 23 months in federal prison and NFL suspension after being convicted of running a dogfighting operation and conspiracy in August 2007.
Vick’s first interview since being released will be on Sunday’s 60 Minutes.

As a Philadelphia area resident and a part-time Eagles employee, I was at the stadium last night when the announcement was made regarding Michael Vick. Although there were a few barks, I think a lot of the Philadelphia fans were pleased with the news. We are a tough group to please, but I know a lot of us will welcome Michael Vick with open arms. I am so happy that he is getting a second chance, and I am proud that the Philadelphia Eagles are giving it to him.

I have gone through and read all of the comments that are posted on this topic. I also read some of he comments posted on other sites related to this topic. While I feel we all have the right to share our opinions, we need to be mindful that there just that, your opinions. All decisions concerning Michael Vick’s punishment(s) and career have been made without your input. Thank goodness!!! With that said, I find it hard to fathom how some of us (human beings) can be so judgemental. I am an animal lover, plant/tree lover, and I love human life. But first and foremost, I love God. I am not a vegetarian. KInda hypocritical, because I have a pet and my pet has to eat meat for survival. My only duty in God’s green earth is to and let live. As a native-Atlantan, I am ever so happy to see the Vick will be back on the field Best wishes!

Now I’m not one who in any way condones Mike’s actions regarding inhumane treatment of the dogs, but I think those who are so self-righteous about this situation and are continuing to protest against him and boo him, I have a few questions to ask: Since dogs are not only animals the humans treat inhumanely, What about the daily slaughtering of livestock so we can eat, what about those who hunt shoot and kill deer as a sport? Is this not in humane treament of animals? Sounds like a double strandard and a blatant level of hyprocrisy as far as I’m concerned. And yes, I do believe that Mike is right own his role what happened with dogs, but it seems that he’s bearing the brunt of all the negative criticism from the critics just because his face is more noticeable and his money was being used to do this rather than folks in his former clique who actually did the cruel things to the dogs. Hopefully, Mike has really learned from this whole ordeal and has distanced himself from those so-called friends who not only threw him under the bus, but placed shackles on his hands and feet while they did so just save themselves.
