  10. Ladyssolady

All my ‘nieces’ will love this!

  11. JstBReal

I think its great there will finally be an African American in a Disney movie. My favorite from back in the day is Lion King.

  12. WTFinSTL

I”m still a little salty that the prince isn’t African American…I’m just saying. But this made me happy to see a live version that my younger cousins and all little girls can look up too.

Question? Does the have a real tiara or is it suppose to be like a makeshift one?

  13. WTFinSTL

*she* and Makeshift like…is that a crown of flowers, because I’mma be salty about that in a min too. Disney can’t have her have a real tiara huh? Just sayin. :)

  14. annie :o)

    awww, so cute! (:

  15. I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE

I love this ABOUT BLOODY TIME!!!! Anyway lets be honest how many black princesses could have a black prince anyway? The Black Princes are “all” checking for the Snow Whites and Sleeping Beauties so Disney has got that right

  16. KEEP IT 100

    @ I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE

    TRUE DAT!

  17. ♥¸.•*´¨`*•.¸♥•.¸♥¸SHEENA♥ ¸.•*´¨`*•.¸♥•.¸

I don’t need Disney to make a movie in order for my daughter to have someone to look up to. That’s what her mother is for. I’m the best role model she could ever have.

  18. theComplex

Aside from all the controversy… I can’t wait to see the movie for myself. I saw a Disney preview at Disney last year during a corporate meeting and was so excited! We literally got to see sketches!

The pic with the little girls says it all… what this is all about… letting ALL little girls have THEIR Disney Princess.

    Love it!

  19. well damn

well damn the prince should of been black too if thats the case

lion king was the closes thing to black as a disney film to me right in the heart of africa with them lions and shit : )

  20. well damn

and sheena for that u r truly a princcess =)

  21. well damn

black princes r checking for sleeping beauty allright, sleepin wit all the damn men sleep on sista

  22. Superwoman

I think once you past the age of 5 you shouldn’t do anymore princess movies

  23. ♥¸.•*´¨`*•.¸♥•.¸♥¸SHEENA♥ ¸.•*´¨`*•.¸♥•.¸

    @ Well Damn

    Awww thank you. :)

  24. ♥♥PEACHEZZZ♥♥

THE PIC WITH THE LITTLE GIRLS IS TOO CUTE!

  25. Buffyuna

This is amazing, but where is all this talk about the prince not being black coming from? He looks like every other “black” celebrity that is worshiped on this site. If Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Leona Lewis, Christina Milian, and other caramel to tanned skinned individuals can be considered black, then this toffee colored prince can be too. Compare him to the white characters and he does not fit. Compare him to the black characters and he blends in perfectly. He’s the same color as the villain who is supposed to be a black voodoo priest.

I cannot wait! I’ve been waitiing on this movie since 2006! my family and I have been having to throw my beautiful little niece, Jala’eh a Disney’s Princesses party w/o a representation of herself anywhere in sight!
There have been talks about this character since Hurricane Katrina. According to Disney, they loved New Orleans and our culture so much, that they felt compelled to give back and base this movie and it’s beautiful story here. I appreciate it, but I’ll have to do more research on what other “give back” projects have Disney participated in for New Orleans. I am so happy and proud and hope that the people of my city (along with myself) especially the beautiful Black girls see the beauty inside and out of themselves,
Finally Disney, you may have this one right

  27. Faith

I cannot wait to see this movie!!!!

  28. LULU

I’m soooooooooooooooo excited for this movie…such a long time coming!

  29. Brick973

i am extreemly happy 2 see that disney has finally got s blsck princess, this was way over do

  30. Supreme

The princess in the movie seems a big ghetto, but i guess

  31. Supreme

awwww the picture with the little girls doing the same pose is so adorable!!!

  32. backingbarack

they couldve picked a better human frog princess. this one looks broke down.

she needs a better makeup artist and a better wig.

  33. Brittany

I cant wait to see this movie, Im gonna take my nieces when it comes out. But its good that Disney is making a movie about an African American princess I guess they finally got the memo…. But on its opening weekend I predict that this movie will be a smash at the box office because us African American and even other minorities have been waiting to be included in this form of pop culture!

  34. Blkmarilyn

Can’t wait this is going to be adorable!

  35. San

For one I just want to say that Animals don’t have a race. The Animals in the Lion King are not black they are animals! Get real. Although if you’re talking about the music that is a different story, I too loved the African influence in the music.

Princess Tiana looks amazing in the trailers this movie will be great, cant wait to see not only the first African American Princess but shes also the First American Princess, up until now they’ve all been from Europe.

  36. say what

why is that of alot a young woman keep saying this is good for the kids to have someone to look up to, why do they need a character or a movie star to look up to
my daughter…. looks up to me and my mom and my aunties………… think about it!!!!!!!!!!

  37. K.O.

I wish when I was lil that I had this! I remember back than the closes Disney princess that I could identify with was Pocahontas, lol *smh. Sad but true!

  38. Please

I am REALLY NOT into this Movie , its very tacky and outright full of Bull , And to me its not a Good Movie .

    Wake Up ppl

  39. Please

the first African American Princess , Sound very Ghetto and that NOT COOL .

  40. Ms. Lady

I think this movie is going to be adorable weather or not your daughter looks up to animated characters or not, it is nice to know that when I take my daughter to see this movie at least the main character on the screen will look like her. A beautiful black princess.

  41. ****Kay Kay*****

I am looking forward to this!!!! It is about time Disney! Can’t wait to take my kids to see this.

  42. WillPwr

I loved Anika Noni Rose in HBOs “No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency” with Jill Scott. That girl deserves a Emmy or Golden Globe nomination—her part was priceless.

Does anyone know if the series is done?

  43. Tha Phoenix

U Dun no Ima be first in line to see this movie … and Im 18…

Love the fact that Disney finally got a black princess… damn time… and I love the dress…

    A+

    You Know You Love Me…

  44. MiSSSEXY

not trying to be mean…but is the “princess” suppose to be the “frog” cus she don’t look like a princess.

  45. hood_shit

  47. PYTMissyouMichael

@WillPwr I heard it was done which is sad but I’m not surprised :(

  48. just my opinion

you know princesses is outta style when they make a black one. I’m sorry but nobody cares about princesses and that is why they threw a black one in there.
