REMEMBERING AALIYAH….

8 years ago today (August 25th), Aaliyah Dana Haughton, Anthony Dodd, Eric Foreman, Scott Gallin, Keeth Wallace, Gina Smith, Douglas Kratz, Christopher Maldonado, and Luis Morales died tragically in a plane crash that shocked everyone. At the time of the tragic accident, Aaliyah was just 22 years-old.

So today, we decided to post up the ‘Miss You’ video for all the fans. We also posted her MTV Diary for those who haven’t seen it. Rest in Peace.

I love me some Aaliyah music! I cant believe its been 8 years since she passed, I still remember where I was and how I found out about her death. Im 19 so with her dying at 22 it just made me remember that you have to live each day to the fullest, try to reach your highest potential, and be a blessing in someones life.

But Aaliyah made timeless music that i know will always live on!

  11. Brittany

Great post CL! Aaliyah was definately one of my favorite entertainers growing up in the 90′s! She will always be remembered in my heart.

*******It would be nice if this post could remain positive, in memory & respect of Aaliyah. Take the negative energy somewhere else. Just saying that before it begins, because ya’ll know how this comment section can get.*********

RIP Aaliyah, this was my girl! Representing for those tomboy chicks and skinny girls back in the day, She was so blessed and was kind enough to bless us with her music. I could only imagine how HUGE she would be right now and how hype her music would be. I guess God was missing an Angel that day and decided to take one back, RIP Liyah. Love you <3

  44. Aries_BLU

It’s incredible that she’s been gone that long. I remember the night that; my older brother, older sister and I were watching mtv and they had the breaking news under the program. I remarked that I was scared, and my sis said I wasn’t scared, just surprised, but I think that I was scared of life taking anyone at any moment. Life is priceless, and you have to celebrate it everyday. I sitll have her One in a Million CD. And I’ll be wearing my Aaliyah shirt tomorrow.

  45. Dirty Diana

Hopefully she somewhere resting in peace. My childhood she was all i listened too. still do. not just on this day b/c she passed away. was just listening to ”More Than A Women The Other Day”. But i love ”Try Agai” forever and always. Go for your dreams, chase them. It’s not always about the money. B/c others artits are doing what they like. People always have to mention theirs bank account are bigger. Just believe in yourself. Life’s to short. Have faith. Respect people.

    R.I.P Aaliyah chick xx

  46. Classy:If U Seek Amy!

Aw, the original Babygirl. I miss Aaliyah so much.

She was one of the rare, gorgeous, popular, sexy female stars that everybody adored and never even wanted to hate on. I miss her music, style, dancing and videos like crazy.

She was an individual and at the top of her game when she passed. Who knows what level she would’ve been on by now??? But, there’s no higher level than the one she’s on now as one of God’s angels.

R.I.P Babygirl. You were so loved.

  47. Lanice

Live on Forever Aaliyah. You were truly a gift from God.

  48. Classy:If U Seek Amy!

@19 What you said about Aaliyah is exactly right and perfect. She was a charming blend of street and sweet w/o trying. Alot of artists today try to convey the same swag that was so natural to Aaliyah it had to be in apart of her DNA.

    Dang. What a loss.

  49. Avantgarde

    RIP Aaliyah, love u

i remember this day all so clearly…..

i just left l.a. for my second year of college and was staying with fam in a VERY small town. when i woke up the next morning, (the 26th, my birthday) my aunt told me that she had passed. i didn’t believe it at first but then when i whipped out my laptop and read it on all the websites, it crushed me. saddest birthday to date. i got to my dorm room that evening and played all her albums…

she’s truly missed. such a talented girl. it would’ve been incredible to see where her career could have taken her. and sometimes i wonder….would she have still been with dame dash? and would the roc still be as great as it was? i just wonder…you know. it’s all a ripple effect.

    but anywho….
    RIP Aaliyah.

  51. Kyla

Hmm .. feels longer than 8 years to me.
To be honest I don’t think I’ve ever ‘remembered’ she died on August 25.
I wasn’t the biggest Aaliyah fan – I only know like 9 of her songs but I love the 9 I do know. I still listen to Aaliyah – I have those 9 songs on my iPod and I was just ‘jammin’ to them a few days ago.
I was 10 when she died and I still rememeber the day – I went to my friends house who lived across the street from me and she came outside saying “Aaliyah died, Aaliyah died!” and she was crying, I thought she was crazy at the time. I still thought it was sad though cause she was so young!

She was and is still truly loved.

  52. HighCouture

R.I.P Aaliyah Sometimes I still cant believe she was taken away from us so soon.

  56. Syn'ceRe

HAHAHAHA I REMEMBER NICK CANNON AS A DRAG QUEEEN LOL!!!!!!!!

  57. Ladyssolady

Maaaan, its been 8 yrs! I was a dancer in the band in HS when we all heard, and we were on a trip, and everyone could not believe it. I always think of her & Dame Dash. I think they would’ve been married. Her star power was huge. Movies and music. I remember hearing a lot of roles being intended for her. Her appeal in music would’ve been on such a high level and affected so much going on now. I wonder where her brother is. They were extremely close.

  58. chantelle

Man I wasn’t a big aaliyah fan but I did enjoy her music. Its just heartbreaking bcuz she was so young and talented that she didn’t get to have more success as an artist. I cannot believe its been eight years! Time flies! And I agree that we cannot cry anymore about it bcuz she’s probably up there not wanting us to cry at all. Don’t cry and don’t feel bad if you’re not grieving still. We all owe it to aaliyah to celebrate her life by living ours. Head for success and never back down!

  59. scpyt2010

R.I.P ANGEL!!!!! YOU WERE TRULY ONE IN A MILLION!!!! XOXO
