‘ROUND THE WAY: Omarion Addresses Rumors ABOUT BEING DROPPED FROM YOUNG MONEY

August 20th, 2009

Twitter blew up on Wednesday night when a rumor got out that Omarion had been dropped from Lil Wayne’s Young Money record label for allegedly leaking his new song, “I Get It In” without the label’s consent.

Omarion just released this statement:

“I have a lot of respect and admiration for the genius of Lil ‘Wayne and the entire Young Money family. I asked to be released from the label to pursue other opportunities that were recently presented to me. Because of our relationship, Lil’ Wayne had no issue with us ending our business relationship and released me from the label. Lil’ Wayne and I have nothing but love for each other, there is no Beef. I also wanted to make it clear that my company nor did I, leak the song, “I Get It In” and I want to dispel any rumors that have surfaced. I appreciate my relationship with Young Money/ Cash Money and look forward to doing business in the future. There will be a major announcement regarding my career and my new album, “Ollusion” coming next week. Stay tuned…”

–Omarion

Dang, didn’t he JUST sign with them? In other words…

—-You can’t blame a artist for leaking a song. That’s the labels fault. There should
—-only be one copy of the master and only the producers (those putting up the
—-money) should control the master disc. Think of it like safe sex. The man should
—-not rely on the women to supply the condoms or say that she’s on the pill. She
—-could give him a condom with a tiny hole in it and all hell will break loose. Sorry
—-Young Money, but y’all should have guarded yo $#!T. The song leaked and so do
—-the condoms. That’s why I always carry industrial strength duct tape with me. lol!

I don’t believe every word omarion said. I don’t believe it. LOL. So far Drake is getting notice and soon to be big, new boyz then lil twist doing their thing but Omarion. The reason Omarion decided to leave is because of Bow Wow. That’s the reason why. That’s the reason he left Sony. He getting tired being followed by Bow Wow i can surely understand that. Omarion if you read this whatever you do. I wish you the best of luck and may god be with you. God Bless you Omarion. Just hold on tight and be patient, God will put you in a better home and better deal. Everything will be alright. God Bless.

I have really been out of the loop, I didn’t know Omarion or Bow Wow were signed to Lil Wayne’s label. I know Drake is hot right now, but I really don’t think that has anything to do with Lil Wayne. I actually think Drake signing with Young Money will hurt him more than help him. Omarion doesn’t fit on the label, so dropped or released is still a good look. Bow Wow has been done so…

His ass got dropped (again! first Columbia now YM) i know his contract was not that short. They had to have fired his ass, he can’t just ask to leave. Even if he asked to leave that mean that the labl did not value him cuz they would’ve hired lawyers and fought with him to stay in contract. Either it looks bad on him either u got dropped or the label did not care and thought u was not gonna make them any money in return!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Black music artists need to do better. They’re at the complete mercy of record labels and radio stations because not a damn one of them can manage their careers from point A (songwriting) to point B (the business side). White folks will bust their ass learning the craft and putting their money on the line by touring even the smallest venues, but black singers/rappers are just doing what they do in hope of a record deal. If you build up an audience, you’ll have more longevity than waiting for a record label to see you and pour millions of dollars into your career to hire the best producers, songwriters, video directors, etc. And being a producer/label CEO’s protegee is one of the worst positions to be in: look at Ashanti when Irv went bust, Amerie when she split with Rich Harrison, Janet when she stopped working with Jimmy Jam and Terry, and especially all the people who’ve come and gone under the tutelage of Clive Davis, Quincy Jones, Babyface and L.A. Reid (heaven knows what will happen to Rihanna if Jay-Z gets tired of her). Black people either need to band together a la Motown, or get their nose to the grind and go back to the basics.

I don’t know if I believe Omarion. You can’t trust what a lot of these artists say about unfortunante situations that happen in their career because many of them lie about it instead of being man or woman enough to fess up (Christina Milian, Teairra Mari) That does sound odd that he would leave Lil Waynes label after only being signed for a month! If he did get another deal, I’m sure it’s not big.

    Young MONEY

Omarion and BOW WOW are so DELUSIONAL.

Nobody cares if he was dropped or not. They don’t SELL and why anyone would run to be on Young Money in the first place is the real question. Wezzy is fun and everything but a business man??? NO. He is a druggie and he can’t even keep a tour date let alone wake up on time. LOL

Wayne can’t sell people like BOW WOW or Omarion.

Who is the distributor of this label, no shade, ’cause Drake proclaims them, but he’s not signed with them, nor is that Nikki Minage chick, so wtf is really going on? I think it was a dumb move on Omarion’s part to begin with. You go from a major record deal to some boot leg ish…please. I don’t believe he was dropped, you can’t be dropped from something that isn’t even remotely taking flight.
