ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: COLLINS PENNIE

September 24th, 2009

♫ Collins Pennie – Almost There

Meet Collins Pennie. This actor/singer/dancer/model is probably going to be best known for his upcoming role in the anticipated movie remake of ‘FAME’. The Brooklyn native, spent half of his childhood in numerous foster homes only to move out on his own at age of 15. Never giving up on his dreams, he is currently working on his music (one of his songs is located above) and budding acting career.

You’ve probably seen his face in some videos from Beyonce or Diddy and on the small screen on “As The World Turns” or “Law & Order” but according to him, the sky is the limit for his career.

Check out Collins’ official myspace for more info on his music & acting career. And look out for Collins this weekend when FAME is released to theaters.

Really Hot Work!!! It’s funny, as I said in a previous post, the SAME peeps who complain about the STATE of MUSIC are the same peeps who CAN’T or REFUSE to acknowledge someone who brings something NEW and FRESH!!!

SHAME on U… if this steps on your toes, then it’s U i speak of!! LMFAO @ the HATERZ!!!

Great job, bro… moving in the right direction!!!

what I say on an earlier post….underground….this song is nice on the ears…I’m so ready for ppl that we know nothing about take over in everything from the media..beauty…entertainment and fashion industry…and I pray to God that I’m in that bunch…there are so many talented people in this world that go unrecognized and or overshadowed by nonsense that it’s sad…but most of us are fighters for a reason…only God knows…so all any of us can do in anything that we are passionate about is to work hard to get what you want…literally to die trying until you make it…

I’m surprised no one realizes that’s the black dude from the remake of Prom Night. It came out like last yr. or the yr. before that. That’s where I remember him. Ronnie lol.

Yo haters fall da hell back like for real!! Half of ya’ll are probably the ones who be on here saying “OMG RnB needs to come back!” or “Somebody needs to do something different” and when they DO do something ya’ll buhinds knock it like WTF?!? just shut up and enjoy the music because in my opinion it sounds ALOT better then the garbage on the radio now….nice beat, good tone, and nice story around it…he got my support 100%. And he definately doing his thing if he can hold dancer, actor AND model under his belt while at the same time trying to bring back good music…thats whats up homie!!

And #13 i DEFINATELY agree with u on what u said…alot of people dont say anything about Chris Brown premature sounding woman beating a** they just focus on the fact that he’s cute and can dance which is cool but usher and ginuwine had the same exact qualities back in the day and at the same time had a voice to blow with rather it be an uptempo song or ballad….hate on it if ya want, but im just saying though…..

Ok, then let me get it of the way. Chris Brown and all of the R&B singers who are pitch correcting their vocals suck. Period. I’m sorry. Either you got it or you dont. If you cant sing a song without pitch correction and copy and paste tricks, you suck period. God forbid if this dude came out in 1998, before pitch correction was around.

There is nothing new or inovative about having a computer correct every single word on a song that you sing. Thats just sad. I give a pass to people like Mary J, Babyface, Toni Braxton or Mariah Carey (who all now use pitch correction)

They HAVE PROVED THAT THEY CAN MAKE GREAT MUSIC, without a fucking computer singing for them. This guys first “major” single, sound like T-pain rendition. Sorry

I agree with some of #30′s comments. It is pitch corrected TO DEATH! I’m all for pitch correction when it’s used properly. Some times you are feelin it and hit a nice run that happens to hit a few bad notes. Correct it and keep that emotion. No problem. But if you are using it to correct notes that anybody singing in the shower can do, that is not cool.

Yes, it is the “right now” sound or whatever, but not everybody is a fan of it. You might get a hot single with it today, but people won’t take you seriously if they’ve never heard you sing for real. Then where will you be once auto-tune is out? Nobody will check for you because they won’t think you can sing or were just a “fad” artist. It’s a catch 22.

That said, the song is just okay. It’d probably grown on me enough so that I didn’t change the radio when it came on, but I probably wouldn’t buy it.
